Just picked up Spartan Games' Firestorm Armada and went with the Sorylians. Here's what I've got so far:
Halberd Class Heavy Cruiser
Bombard Class Gunship
Progress to date. Hoping to tackle some frigates next.

Oooh Soryllian stuff, nice!
Could you resize the pics so they aren't so humungous? They look pretty good though, thats a nice paint scheme you're going for.
For some reason that gunship reminds me of the Junkyard Dawg from Homeworld...

Great looking models. Do you by any chance have a BFG ship for scale? I always wondered how they looked together. Anyway, good start and I look forward to seeing more of your work soon![]()

Unfortunately I do not. I can tell you that the average medium-sized FSA vessel is about 3 inches long; frigates tend toward 2" but battleships (and soon dreadnoughts and leviathans) can be quite long - the Sorylian one is 5.5" - the Dindrenzi one is even larger. One thing I like about the game is the big models.
This guy has a good blog (mostly Sorylian) with a Chaos battleship next to a Sorylian cruiser and battleship - it looks to be somewhere in the middle: http://buckaroo13.blogspot.com/2010/...a-big-boy.html
Soon, I'll have two frigates and a cruiser up.

A pair of Scythe Class Frigates escort a Skyhammer Class Cruiser.
Next up will probably be another batch just like this one, but that will come after the first post in my Infinity blog - check it out in the meantime, and I welcome critiques here! I'm still really shaky on OSL techniques for the engine. I can't get the fading right. My main engine color is Enchanted Blue. I do the center white, then the peripheral engines that color, and mix 50:50 blue and white for the engine highlights and surrounding metal. What I cannot get is the fading of the blue onto the main ship color, Bleached Bone. I know I'm supposed to water is down, but it gets runny and pools away from the light source or leaves 'rings' in the main ship color. Right now I'm just doing a little bit of streaks of Enchanted up the sides of the engine, but I'm not quite happy with it...

Mate, that is awesome! How did you maintain your sanity from doing all those panel lines?! This is an awesome centre piece for your fleet, great work.

That is the one bad thing about these large ships is they do start to feel a little same-y, both on the same ship and across them.

All I have left is one remaining frigate that will be a escort for the battleship and a second gunship.

I've never come across this game before but those ships are really cool. The paint scheme is really effective too, that battleship is awesome
