That Death Kiwi has got the Evil Eye! Run for it!!!

You painted the eye really well, I must say...

'Death Kiwi' just has that hilarious ring to it... very good, very good.

@juicytomatoes: Thanks, I do not know if it came to it by comments or if it was named that way by Warplock Monkey, it is probably somewhere in his thread. It is his take on kiwi anatomy with an edge, there will be another sculpt eventualy and a male version as well.

I have been at it during all the spare time I could muster in the last few days and spiked my hand a few times, but my entry for the Tale of Terrain builders is done. I present "Boomshroom Garden":

I might add a bit to it in the last month if I have time to make it a bit more dense. I hope you enjoy the humerourly placed snotlings.

Teehee. Coolness. And Juicy, anyone who has played the game POWDER knows how deadly kiwis really are.

Ah yes the leafless tree of shame, I had no time to get anything on it. After having another look at the bridge done by N810 I will add some cotton to it to hide the few mould lines still on it.
It is a DIY set from Busch (H0 6803). They are quite large but the flock it came with never really worked that well for me (long time ago, hopefully improved). It is a lot of work since you need to to a few branches at a time to stop yourself from taking your work apart right away. I think you were even supposed to glue small branches to it beforehand. I did it once and it looked fine but way too much work and a bit brittle with the real dried twigs.
They are quit cheap though and the basic tree comes in three parts (lower trunk, upper trunk and a stand with roots). Well worth it for the plastics, you get five large trees at about 2,50€ a piece.

Real creative terrain. I really like the floating rock with the waterfall.

Thanks, here is a starter of the Vaettir painted to go with the floating rocks (one big one is still WIP):

    The Varriers:

    The Varbres:

    And the Vstonin:

The second Vstonin needs basing, these had to be done today to enter them in the painting contest on the Tor Gaming Forum.

The Vaettir/imps/bugs look very cute (and ferocious at the same time) :O

They remind me (a little) of Nibbler from Futurama.

The Vaettir look really good! I like the way you painted them. They look really poisonous!

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

@Sorry for the late reply, but thanks, it was fun do do something completely different.

I have three free days now, with unexpectedly nothing to do. Add the weekend and that is five days. So the plan is to get some NG finished.:

I finished all the green stuff work on these converted BfSP archers and command models and my first Mangler as well. The left over green stuff was used to get the wyvern further done, but here is a picture of the Mangler for now:

It will need a chain added after painting the two pieces but I am happy with my first model mostly sculpted by myself.

While doing these I will have to decide if I want to add dust and rust to my NG. That would mean reworking the rest of them a bit, but I think that could be done in a day or two with finally finishing the movement trays as well.
If all goes well I will finish another 40 NG I have and make a second Mangler, post it on my NG thread and close it.

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

I just hate painting NG, my paint scheme does not fit well with many, but I will get at least these done for now. In the meanwhile I finished taking pictures for the ToTB so here is my finished big rock:

Here I added a little waterfall again because it just looked like water had been eating away at the rock for ages. It should help a bit with the old and deserted look.

    Symbol of ownership

Close up of the water, I used cheap clear glue with a topping of clear window colour. During a test run I found out the glue dries with many bubbles and greenish. This is four thick layers of that to get some angry water going. Then some thinned blue wash. With the window colour circles were drawn twice to make it swirl with the whirlwind. After drying it has a slight concave shape, which is even better, because it gives the look of the water being sucked up. I am quite happy with the result.

I made it like a ruin, because this way it can have many purposes. The space within is large enough for a huge marker.
And here is a group shot of my Vaettir terrain set so far:

Looking at these you could easily use them as substitute trees/forest as well.

The NG are almost done, but I have two tales to finish things for. This one is just done, quite happy with it:

What are the Mangler Squig doing to the Night Gobbo? Nice terrain and halfling housewife.

To be plain, he is breaking wind and the bang is making the other giant Squig go for cover. I am aware it is rather childish, but at least one real child had a good chuckle over this sculpt, good enough for me.

Here are two side shots of the model painted so far:

Yes, it's a bit childish, but I think it fits the Night Goblins perfectly.
Made me smile, too. Well done!

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

This week many updates as I am off duty and want to get things back on track. So I started by cleaning my workspace of dust and getting some more space on the wall to put my painted miniatures in.

But I also finished green stuffing my wyverns by adding saddles and other stuff, here the savage one:

    The boss his wyvern:

And a free wyvern for some wyvern hunting, I think two mounted versions is enough and I quite liked the look, he now has two digits on the wing as well.
The Question I asked myself is how this creature can be relatively fast, so I turned it into a hopping chicken:

Tomorrow I hope to finish the NG paint job and to get some work done on my shaman tower.

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

@EmperorNorton: Hmmm, no orcs before the gobbos are done, so I started with the free wyvern with a "azhagmorglum" paint scheme, pictures tomorrow (later today).

    No Gobbos finished.

First I need a piece for the Tale of Terrain Builders to finish that Tale successfully. I continued on the gobbo tower by making some holes in the eyes, and adding a second layer. Currently it does not scream shaman to me but rather watch tower, let's see where this goes.

And this came up as well today, I call it "bird of prey". The frame I started reminded me so of a Klingon bird of prey, so this one will have some Klingon ridges. It is of course a new Squig for a second Mangler base, so far I have just the inner mouth done. This will become a step by step as I sculpt only twice a day.

First make a armature and bulk it out where needed with cheaper materials. I started with the mouth, because like painting I work from the inside out. Mostly I roll a sausage and add it to push it into shape, here inside and then gums.

View from above to show the shape mentioned before.

Step two, drill holes for the teeth which I use toothpicks ends for. The teeth are positioned in a way not to hurt anyone. I left the last few out before sculpting the tongue before putting them into place. Then I just added the left over green stuff to the frame to bulk it out. I prefer to leave things to cure because I have this knack to undo my work. So the rule here for me is to add a bit and leave it.

No more forecasts but regular updates this week are a given.

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

Proof of my wyvern painting, this is just basic colours applied:

But I did basically finish this beauty, now to make some water splashes:

And I bulked out the legs of my birdy this morning:

And just added a tail as well, with the basic body done I will start to build up detail with many, many thin rolls of green stuff tomorrow:

And because it needed an update as well, I added a bit to my Quar tractor. Also a magnet to keep the main body able to turn but firmly put on top.

Re: My hobby by Little Joe

Well progress has been slow. Experimenting for the splashes, looking for technical parts to add using the "rule of cool" to the tractor and giving thoughts to as how to get the tracks into mud. Long sentence, I know but it was fun nevertheless.

Solution for the tractor: a base, after looking online I decided to make one myself by cutting up a 50mm wround base. Taking out my new white Milliput and trying it out I can say forget about the cheap yellow version. This one is far better to sand, smoother to sculpt with a wet tool and feels nice and smooth. Well worth the extra cash. I glued the corners to a piece of cardboard and with a wet steel ruler got the round shape easy enough by pulling it upwards parallel to the rim, this morning I worked out a few quirks mainly at the bottom or by me cutting not straight and here you go:

With the rest of the green stuff I added some detail to one leg and started the upper lip of my giant squig #3:

Now I am off to the kitchen to prepare a meal for some friends for our weekly eating & gaming evening.
