    Orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs

I've been working on a orcs and goblins army for a few weeks now, and thought to myself why not start another blog. It helps keep me motivated and I'm going to need that if I ever want to finish this army.

Behold, the big box full of orcs and goblins:

    And some more random bits

I got my hands on the 7th edition box set (the one with the OnG army book) for about 70 euro's and a vet at my local store wanted to get rid of his Orcs so that was the start of this collection. Add a few more night goblins, a big spider and some other random models and I'm off to a propah start. Also there are some classic models in here, which came from the vets collection.

I've already painted some models which I'll be showing off in this and the upcoming posts. The lightning wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, so I may me redoing these photo's sometime soon.

15 wolf riders including full command:

Night goblins including a big boss:

    Re: Orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs

A very classic wolf chariot, I was told this particular model was from 1988 so that makes it slightly older than me. Still loads of fun to paint tough.

A goblin shaman, the first mini I painted for this army. I really like how the skin turned out and I used that on all the other goblins.

Boar boyz, now these are some ace models. I did some freehands on these which sadly don't really show in the pictures. Their poses are a bit wonky right now because I haven't decided if I want to glue them on or not.

    Re: Orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs

The first arrer boyz. Didn't really like that these models have sleeves sculpted on them, I like the one with the bare arms the best.

Two random models, which were already painted. I just gave these a quick highlight and cleaned up the bases a bit.

And that's it for now. I'll probably paint some more arrer boyz after this, since they are the smallest unit in the army and thus I can finish them a bit quicker.

Any comments and feedback are welcome

Looks like you've got a lot of painting to do. I agree that the arrer boyz are not great models, they're much too big for their bases and somehow orcs with sleeves is wrong. Some of your free hand work is visible on your boar boyz and it looks good.

I was like "yeeeee, more Orcs", when I read the headline, and I must say, your plog rly lives up to the title so far Some really nice stuff here. I like the banner as well - there's some "motion" in the logo, making it very suitable for the cavalry imo. Gj!

    Those arrer boys - are they plastic or metal? I'd rly like some of those models, but my local store hasn't got any, and I cba to buy 3 metal boys at a time, from the GW homepage. Hugging ebay atm ~~;;

Keep it up! Looking forward to more updats

So, I know it's been a while since the last update. I have finally started working on the big spider and it's base. It's coming along nicely if I say so myself. I also finished five black orcs. Pictures will be incoming soon, hopefully tonight. I think I'll do the spider riders after this to finish up another easy unit, hopefully there won't be such a large gap between getting stuff painted this time

Hope you didn't have to wait to long .

The spider has turned out rather nicely in my opinion. I still need to undercoat the howdah so that will come later, but it looks quite nice without it. I did muck up the pose somehow while building it, so it doesn't quite fit like it should.
I chose green as a basis because it's easier to paint than reds, since I would have to do loads of mixes to get the darker undercoat I wanted. The belly is a softer colour to show that it's somewhat more vulnerable.

And an unobstructed look at the base:

I also updated a boar chariot (it was already painted) to somewhat higher standards. I just need to re undercoat the crew (they were beyond saving) so I can complete it. The base also needs to be flocked like the rest of the army.

And the black orcs, which are a pain in the rear to rank up.
I chose to do them with red armour so they fit in with the rest of the army which all have red details of some description.

Nice muted tones on these. The red armour on the Black Orcs stands out very well against the overall scheme.

    Re: Orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs

Thanks for all the positive comments so far I should have some spider riders finished this week, all the basic colours have been painted so I just need to highlight and clean them up. I might upload some pics tonight, otherwise it will probably be friday or saturday.

1)I started with a Orkhide shade basecoat.
    2) Heavy drybrush with dark angels green.
    3) Lighter drybrush of Catachan green
    4) Even lighter (just a bit of paint on the brush) drybrush with Gretchin green
    5) barely any paint on the brush highlight with camo green (not entirely sure since the pictures on the website are slightly different, but it's a little lighter than gretchin green).
    6) On the really high spots I used some minimal bleached bone. Around the eyes I used a bit of goblin and scorpion green.

    Hope that helps

    Re: Orcs, orcs, orcs, orcs

Yeah, I've let this blog go to waste for far to long. Good thing I suddenly got bit by the (squig) painting bug then. I'm currently painting some more models from this army so expect to see more stuff in the near future. For now I've got the following stuff finished.

One unit of spider riders, these were done a couple of months ago but I never bothered with updating the log. The spiders were done in the same
way as the big one. Looking at the pics I should probably do a more noticeable highlight on the feathers, apart from that these are finished.

    And a closer view

I've also gone back to the big spider in order to finish the howdah and the goblins on top of it. I'm not going to use the middle bit since it's busy enough as is.

Another unfinished project that I completed was the first ork chariot. The crew has been completed and I changed the bases to match the rest of the army. I've got another one of these that's ready for painting. So far it seems like most of the army is mounted, there are more footsloggers to come though.

This is the stuff that still needs painting, not pictured are the ancient mono pose gobbos and some other older stuff such as metal boar boys. I've also finished the orc shaman from the army deal (the one which was released a couple of years ago), but the pictures turned out to be quite crap, so I'll take some new ones for the next update.

If you want to see anything in particular just give me a shout. Oh, and any and all feedback is of course welcome. Now, to get my hands on some more warmachines...

Looks great! The colour on the spider is wonderfull.

A tip, though it might come a little late as you just updated it... Chariots look best when mounted on a 50x100 chariot base. I did that with all of mine, and it just looks way better than just those 2 cavalry bases.
