single tusks are worth taking even if they never kill a single miniature. they earn their points back during deployment when you place a tusk down and the enemy places a unit. gives you a strong advantage for a meagre cost in points. if the skinks shoot the tusks then great a whole unit just shot a single miniature instead of shooting units of ogres or monsters where the damage could be more significant. i know which id be happier taking wounds with. dont increase the size of the units its just giving the enemy more kills.
the great thing about tusks is they are just enough of a threat to warrent shooting a unit at them, left unchecked they are fast enough to get at warmachines and mages aswell as seriously hold up units or block charges etc. one of the best distraction units in the game IMO and has stats which are impressive for the points.
im new to warhammer 8th myself, long time veteran of the game but only just getting back into the new edition with ogres, really like to hear some thoughts on the use of the firebelly. how are you kitting it out.
my thoughts are using it as a support caster to my slaughtermaster general rather than a second butcher with the ruby ring of ruin (MOAR FIRE!) and a dispel scroll. also had thoughts of using one on a flying carpet for a very mobile burninator..albeit quite a vaulnerable one.
