Smile Elves Vs. Undead - Fiances first game.

OK, so after watching a few games my fiancé decided she wants to play a game, we are using stand in models of the elf army plus the unit of elven spearmen she is painting up and it kicks in at just over 1000 points. I made a list using what I have plus a stand in balefire catapult to get the same total. the lists are as follows...

    Elves
Spearmen regiment including command 135 pts,
Spearmen regiment including command 135 pts,
Seaguard regiment including command 225 pts,
    Bowmen troop 90 pts,
    Bowmen troop 90 pts,
    Scout troop 80 pts,
    Bolt thrower 70 pts,
    Bolt thrower 70 pts,
Mage on horse (mage queen stats at +10 points and speed 9) 130 pts.
    Total 1025 pts

    Undead
Revenant regiment including command 130 pts,
Revenant regiment including command 130 pts,
Skeleton regiment, phalanx, rats/dogs, including command 160 pts,
    Wraith troop 125 pts,
    Wraith troop 125 pts,
    Zombie half regiment 50 pts,
    Ghoul troop 45 pts,
    Balefire Catapult 70 pts,
    Balefire Catapult 70 pts,
    Revenant King 120 pts.
    Total 1025 pts

I believe the elves have a ranged advantage and possibly a melee advantage with the spearmen and seaguard units. we will see how it goes and post a result maybe a short battle report on here afterwards

Had you wanted comments on the lists, or were you just letting us know

I think you should simplify your army a little by removing some of the variety from your units. At the moment you have a bit of everything. While that makes sense in someone's second or third game, I@m not sure it is here.
She has 5 different types of unit, including characters.
You have 7, which is just a little bit much. You could drop the zombies, or the ghouls or both to make it simpler for her to learn the mechanics of the game, rather than the stats and units.
    Project Log:

    Currently: Ghostly Brettonians and Mordheim

well, zombies, skeletons, revenants and ghouls are all melee units that shamble. easy to get the hang of Her army has shooting, combat and a character. She has watched a few games so has a basic grasp of the rules, just wants to try playing an actual game and my army is fine, she knows how it works, just wants to see the elves as she is painting up an elf spear unit in pink atm lol. comments on the lists is cool, I think I added so I could do a battle report after and people could see how it went. Game ws postponed last night due to illness, but should be taking place this evening after babies bath time lol.

Well, good luck! My lady friend gave warhammer a try and thought it far too complicated. Kings of War was right up her alley. It is much more approachable, and I hope it goes well for you.
