I just received my Orcs from their sale and am pretty pleased with the level of casting detail on them. For the price, obviously.

My feeling with that Ashigaru figure is that, while the pose is stiff, it has some flair and would look good ranked up. The Samurai seems a little too reliant on detail that I don't expect to transfer well.

    Yep he looks alright.

The perry stuff is far better, but we'll have to see what the prices are like - if its not much more expensive to go metal...

The ashigaru look quite nice, and I've always wanted to do a massive samurai army. I'm optimistic.

I have a bunch of the Perry samurai stuff. And I will be picking up some of the wargamesfactory stuff in a heart beat.

Wargamesfactory Ashigaru are listed at £16.5 for 30 models.
    Perrys' Ashigaru - £6.6 for 6 models. (x5 = £32,5)

That is about half the price compared to the Perry range.

    Plastic Samurai (Wargames Factory)

    Say whaaaat?

    Wargames Factory Plastic Samurai

Unlike some of the other wargames factory kits which suffer from disproportionate limbs and lego hand syndrome, these models actually look really great. They'll also be putting out plastic yari/matchlock ashigaru. Box art and preorders available on thewarstore.com:

Scroll down about halfway through the products.

    Re: Plastic Samurai (Wargames Factory)

Nice to see some assembled, the detail is noticeably better than most of their previous kits! Whereas most of their earlier efforts have been lacking in facial detail in particular, I feel like these guys turned out quite well.

    Thanks for posting!
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

No problem, I've been waiting for these guys for some time. If I'm not mistaken I believe this is the work of a new sculptor referred to on their site as "Kevin".

They look decent, but I wouldn't trust them.
The detail on their amazons is washed out in places while it's really nice and sharp in others. Probably the last kit of theirs that I have bought, unless they start getting fantastic reviews.

Good point EN. I noticed their pictures all seemed to be from angles that conceal their typical WGF flaws in the hands and side-details.

For $16, however, I'll probably pick up a box just to see how they are.

They are a perennially frustrating range. You'd think that what they have is perfect and it can't be that hard to get figs out that are comparable to what everyone else does. But their figs are always just that little bit... lacking.

Still, they do really good sales from time to time and wargamers used to tolerate a LOT worse in terms of figs so I am willing to put up with it to allow me to have armies I wouldn't otherwise have.

Hardly a ringing endorsement, I know.

Thanks for the head's up. I had missed the "pre-order status" on the Warstore.

I would love it if the boxes are available for The Warstore's Black Friday sale. The rest of WGF's listed minies will be. Then there's the Perry Minies. Did I mention the Warlord Game's goodies?

BLACK FRIDAY SALE at the Warstore. Soon, just days away.

Apparently today (19 Nov.) was the release date. This page has a couple of shots of painted models.

Not too shabby! Overall I like the look of the assembled figures pretty well.

I know at least one item I'm getting from the War Store next Friday...

For me, a lot of the fun will be using the extra samurai heads, arms and bling on other models, such as the shock troopers.

One of the great results of the number of plastic 28mm out there is being able to do minor effort carving, scraping, drilling, etc "converting" to make up all kinds of "different" models/minies/armies.

I just wish the variety of plastic minies had hit the shelves decades sooner than now.

Might check this out, as an alternative to GW Empire models
