These are really good! Maybe I should consider starting a 40K army again, just to face these guys
Unfortunately my work off late is nowhere near this stuff (did manage over 130 models in 2 weeks though!), but you really make me want to pick up my Brets again.
Great looking Wyches. Nice and crisp.![]()

Amazing. How long does it take for you to paint one?
Also thanks for the painting recipie!
My eyes hurs, but I didn't get any 3d...
But the painting and converting is nice.
Which legs is it for the Hekatrix?
I'm guessing it comes off the black dragon kit?

Just amazing, very nice work indeed! Makes me want to blow the dust of my 40k stuff as well. It''s been too long since I played your dark eldar.
@stonetroll: Yea a tough trade-off between quality and quantity. With my Dark Elves I managed to do two units quick and dirty but I wasn't to happy with the end results. So I went back to more detailed painting, the problem that arises then is weather I can get an army painted faster than GW can release new models. For now I only paint models I really like and that are so new they will likely not be replaced any time soon. With a bit of luck I'll have a fully painted army eventually. For now I'll have to do with 5 half painted armies.![]()
@Serpent: Thanks!
@Spyral: I don't know exactly, and honestly I think I'd rather not know (Just like its better to never type /played in WoW). The five warriors took me the better part of a weekend. Considering this is a new colourscheme and I'm still experimenting with colours here and there I think I can do it a bit faster eventually.
@SpeedFreek: This might help, How to watch cross eye stereoscopic images.. And make sure your mouse pointer isn't over the image.
@Okuto and SpeedFreek: The hecatrix uses the regular legs from the wych kit. I cut away everything above the knees and below ribs and replaced it with greenstuf. In addition I did some cutting at the backpack so the phantom grenade launchers are closer to her back to give here a more balanced feel.
@Scythe, indeed its been a while, and you actually have all your (horde) armies painted.
HOLY S**T!! Those 3D pics are FU**ING AWESOME!!! How did you do that?
Thanks for the link with the explanation, now it really works, wow.
I was able to see in immediately, a bit difficult to get a really focused view but the trick is to just relax. Very nice idea and oh yeah of course, very nice painting :-)

I wish I had read the explanation on viewing those 3d pics before staring at them cross-eyed until i got a headache.
They are however awesome, any tips on taking good enough pics to accurately create a 3d image like that?
I added the tutorial on how to watch cross eyed stereoscopic images to my initial post, to save some people a headache.
Making the pictures isn't that difficult actually. I use a low to mid range digital camera. Make a picture like you would normally do of your mini, after that shift your camera a few cm (2-3) to the left or right while still pointing it at your mini. Make sure your camera remains level and at the same distance, you can use a tripod or whatever you can find on your desk for stability.
Then take any program in which you can combine two images into one and arrange them side by side. Leftmost on the right side and rightmost to the left side for cross eyed reverse this order for parallel view (preference is personal afaik).
Some of the Work in Progress
I already explained I wanted to upgrade the old raiders to something that fits the new style of the Dark Eldar. While the new raiders are better models than what I'll be able to convert in a reasonable amount of time I just don't like the pleasureboat/pirate ship style.
Armed with some crew and lances from the new raider kit (love those bits sites), some plasticard and green stuff I was able to create this raider.
This is a prototype, I'm not entirely fond of the bar supporting the DL, its not eldar enough so its going to be fixed that in the final version. The guy in the back is controlling the ship by some power/data feeds trough his back and a holo display in front (looks like he's warming his hands above an electric heater).
While I consider myself a decent painter I'm still rather new to airbrushing. The prow for example came out to bright. But I'm only halfway trough the painting process so time enough to fix stuff.
(p.s. The right corner of the prow broke of a quite some time ago during transport, I kept it somewhere safe so I wouldn't lose it, guess what..)
The nice part about this design is that after doing the initial round of trial and error I now have a set of templates with which I can upgrade the other raiders relatively fast.
That's enough about the raider now, might take a while before I get back at that.
Now to the Medusae, while the GW model is nice, they could have done so much more with the alien parasite theme. (Smilies count to the image limit to, wtf?!)

Wonderful color choices, helped along with such beautiful blending and smooth transitional highlights.
Excellent models, just really beautiful work.
and the 3-d pics make the Plog that much more exciting! Cheers, and give us more soon please!![]()
"In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, ....and I wouldn't have it any other way."
Excellent log! Your painting is beautiful and the background is great as well. You have really pulled off the colorful, yet dark look.
That hecatrix conversion is my favorite. I'll have to take a stab at it myself. I am really excited about the Medusa you are sculpting. Keep up the fantastic work!
Wonderful army, it really catches the spirit of DE imo, I'll be following intently!![]()
I really like the orange - I think it's exactly the right shade of 'bright' and doesn't need darkening at all.
IMHO, it's 'intense' and 'sinister' - everything that a DE scheme should be - I wouldn't change it, but it's your army.
Very good scultping too - I'd like to be able to make something like that one day - my attempts at sculpting end up looking like chaos spawns (in a bad way).
