My Plog of 11.000 pts Skaven Army

Hi there you folks,
I was doubting about it, but I do think I need to start a PloG for my Skaven army.
Despite the fact that I know that it will take at least 2 years before I finished it.
For your esteemed Warseerers it means that I ask a lot of patience because I really will not regularly post in this topic.

Let me start by telling you that I currently have a total of 11,000 points Skaven models.
99% unpainted.
I have made a very good buy on Marktplaats (a Dutch version of Ebay).
For an average of € 1.00 per metal model, I have bought a few hundred in one deal.

I also bought The Island of Blood box, and purchased separately quite a number of models and regiments.
So the time of collecting is over now........... (I thought until I saw the new Skaven models Forge World produced this month, no .... not yet purchased, but the temptation is very great. <

Efin, I'll show you what it is to be painted.

Wow, that is quet the project. Where to start? Wind globadiers or boneripper? I say start with the Slaves. Having an enormous unit of those is fun!

What you name Throt is Thanquol (you have one later in the thread).
The Assassin is Sniktch (same there).
Queek and the grey seer is correct.
Skrolk is also right, but he has the back banner of the model under him, which is actually an old Warlock Engineer (though I use mine as a BSB).

I don't know about the odd one, probably a conversion.

Now get painting! With that many I think you should start with core models, if you start with characters you'll never get the infantry painted...

FBI I do agree with you hordes of slaves must be fun.

Thank you Mrtn, this is very helpfull, the odd one is indeed some kind of conversion I will swap the back banner of the Warlock Engineer to Skrolk. But first as suggested I will start with the core units.

As a matter of fact, I bought the Island of Blood box a few months before I purchased the bunch of metal models.
And with that box I did exactly what you guys recommend: start with the core units, otherwise you will never got them done….

For the color scheme I choose for the earthly yellows combined with the soft browns more or less like the examples of the Clan Skurvy, just for the colors not for the fluf.

For the fluf I´m more looking to the Clan Krizzor, which once was a poor and unremarkable clan. Dwelt deep within the monster-infested region know as the Dark Lands.

On my shelf there was also, for more than 4 years a box with clanrats, the earlier models.
That´s what I started with this summer.

the pictures, may suggest that the models are a little bit shiny, be sure, that´s just the light in the picture, in real life they are not shiny

I also did Skreet as a reward after 60 rats…….
I kept the yellow in the model by using it for the rock on which he is standing binding it to the units in this way, while he still can have an outstanding color of his own.


I´m now working on a horde of 50 slaves, from the plastic Harlequin models with time outs for painting a Rat Ogre.

I will update, when significant, the first post of this thread by marking the finished units and the wip units.

Best of luck with even getting this stuff assembled. You need more troops for the army, though - since most of your models are characters. You're not able to field a decent army yet though. But you do have plenty of flexibility on where to go with the force. Painting looks good and effective (which are both useful characteristics on a force this size)!

thanks grhino for your attention and compliments. Yes you are right the cleaning and assembly will be a enormous job. but then the rewardfull painting can begin.

the titel of my plog is perhaps somewhat misleading, it is indeed not a legal playable army of 11,000pts But it´s an Army Collection of 11,000 pts.

this is what I can put up as a legal army:
Lords 1.995 (up to 25%)
Heroes 1.650 (up to 25%)
Core 2.411 (25% or more)
Special 1.352 (up to 50% max 3 doubles)
Rare 575 (up to 25% max 2 doubles)

Total 7.983
