Looking awesome. Weathering and Camo on Tau really allow you to use some painting techniques that are difficult to pull off on any army except Guard. I'd be excited to play this on the table!

Hi guys !
I havent' update this thread for ages, as I was working on my WHFB empire army and some other SM goodness.
But here are some of the last Tau minis painted by me :
First are some commission work for a friend of mine, with an winter urban warfare theme :
- finished firewarriors :
- more firewarriors :
- WIP of a remora drone :
- and more FW goodness with a nearly finished barracuda :
And for my own army, here are some armoured support, still WIP (and test minis for my brand new airbrush) :
As always, C&C welcome !

That's nifty work, very well done... although the Skyray looks like it's benn through the wringer... twice.
The arctic scheme is very, very good indeed, I'd appreciate some paint recipes, please. Also, how do you paint the orange "tau-technical" markings to look so uniform?
Thanks!

I dont know if I prefer your own codex style painted camouflage or the commission you did for your friend... Both results however are extremely well painted and I have to congratulate you for your amazing painting... You dont cease to impress me!
keep producing great results!

Hi!
I'm very happy to see your Tau back! The blue and white snow scheme is just wonderful on those figs. The heavy weathered Skyray rocks too!
While I enjoy your scheme (very nice weathering and contrasts), I love the winter Tau. Great Camo on the birds and I dig the 'soft' tones of your paint style. Was all the urban camo freehand? Or blended with help from an airbrush?
Some good looking models here, i particularly like your fire warriors and the colour scheme you have chosen.

For the painting recipes of the urban/winter warfare scheme :
- white :
1st layer of foundation light grey (don't know the actual name)
diluted codex grey in all the recess
then I repaint all the armour plates with a 50/50 mix of light grey and white
highlights in a mix of 75% white + 25% light grey
extreme highlights on the edges with pure white.
- blue/grey :
base in "union blue" from Andrea Miniatures (but might work with some GW shadow grey)
the I add just a few coat of diluted fenris grey in all the lower parts
diluted black in all the panel lines
highlights are done with a 50/50 mix of union blue + space wolf grey
extreme highlights on the edges with pure SW grey.
- orange markings : they are just freehands done with the GW foundation orange.
For the winter camo, the infantry, drones and XV-suits will be done using only paintbrush, but all the vehicles (tanks, flyers, piranhas,...) ar done with an airbrush, then reworked with paintbrush (for details, markings,...).
And here are some updates :
- XV25 stealth team done (I have a 2nd XV25 and a XV15 team to paint) :
- sniper drones team (drones still WIP) :
Stay tuned, as I have more tau on the desk atm ! ^^

Very good paint scheme and subtile weathering as usual. I definitively like you work!
First, let me say awesome looking Tau army my friend!
I've always been a huge fan of the Tau (in fact, it was my first 40k army). Their look and feel is so appealing and I'm hoping that a new codex will be made not too far away in the future, so that I can start a new army of them.
Your paint scheme is really superb, both for your own army and the commission one. I like your weathering, it's not too over the top and neat. Your subtle use of camouflage is also very good. Consider me subscribedWhat unit are you currently working on?
Hmmm...I want to play tau now... Absolutely stunning! How do you paint the white so deliciously???

2nd highlight with a mix of 25% astronomican and 75% white
extreme highlight with pure white on all the edges

cool color schems for the vespids![]()
Good to see an update my friend! I really like your vespids. Not too fond of the bright blue scheme that 'eavy metal has made. Yours is alot more natural and realistic (if you can say that about aliens ^^).
Good work on the highlights on the weaponcrystals as well! Now I wonder, is your next unit that you're working on for your own army or the comission? Would sure like to see some more battlesuits for your own army![]()
@ZeeB :
My next unit is for one of my own army, but for my IG ! ^^
For my Taus, I think you'll have to wait for a moment, as I'm trying to finish some IG for a 40k week-end soon. And for commission work, I'll have to paint some battlesuits and vehicles soon.
But be assured my Taus will come back in a few weeks, as I have more battlesuits to paint, and of course more firewarriors or "exotic" units.
