Thanks for the heads up Loki, went to look for the At43 stuff, sadly couldnt find any but did come away with a WWII Atlantic wall bunker and two smaller machine gun bunkers so all set!

Little bedtime reading yesterday for me, I agree the actual game mechanics look simply outstanding, hopefully have a game in the next couple of weeks, really looking forward to it. Will probably post a few battle reports with pictures on my website, will keep you updated

    Some great looking minis BulldogUK.

Looking to get into Tactics then Warfare myself, and loving some of the minis that FFG are putting out. Not too sure on some of the Allied walkers though - they look like a Transformer caught half way between tank and robot ! Have you had a chance to get any of the Sino-Soviet minis yet ? I'm unsure about the Helicopters on FFG's site, but then they don't seem to do a good job of showing off any of their minis on that site.

Hi Bartali, Soviet gear should be released very soon I think as FFG just released a peak at the rules on the website, will be grabbing a box soon as they are released and getting stuck in!

I actually like the helos, they are sort of noticable but with a weird dust twist to it all. I was tinkering with grabbing a few Brewster Buffalo WWII aircraft to make into Allied air support as they have the same 'cartoon stumpy' look about them. Finally found the time to read through the rulebook btw, wow just wow, I really am looking forward to having a game, the game mechanics, on paper at least, look sweet

Really awesome paint jobs on these minis, BulldogUK. I've been a fan of all your various logs and am constantly amazed at the subtle transitions in shade and colour you achieve with the airbrush. I've been using one for a about six months now and can't get close to it, so very jell, as the youth of today would say
Could I pick your brains about what paints you use? Which brand of thinner?

Taken the plunge and ordered the revised core set from Wayland.

Where are you ordering your Dust minis from? Most UK sites seem to have poor stock levels. Wayland showed the core set as 'good level of stock' however my order is shown as 'awaiting stock'

I very nearly took the plunge too after seeing wayland's promotional code, however it didn't apply as the box set wasn't in stock. i'll have to be a bit more patient and see if I can pick it up elsewhere.

Loving this thread, done any work on the new soviet range? I think that's the faction I'm going to run with, who doesn't like soviet aircraft

I'm considering buying future stuff from the states on ebay. Cost+Shipping from the states doesn't add up to much more than cost+shipping from here in the UK, and at least you know they're going to have it in stock.

    Re: Dust...a pleasant break!

My fault entirely Fluffy! Welcome to the slippery slope! Btw, I generally use Tamiya paint and thinners in the airbrush and finish by brush blending with the usual acrylics such as GW and Miniature paint brands

Anyhow, not so much an update but more of an expansion of original forces to bring things in line with the Warfare rules

Action Jackson gets his own Platoon of Red Devils!

Markus also gets his own troop of Apes!

I have 3 boxes of Zombies incoming so I can build up teh Platoon size force and a bunch of the new SSU miniatures arriving soon so hopefully a more substantial update ASAP

Btw, finally played my first Warfare game. 4 Players, objective based, just short of 200pts per side, 5 turn limit, 2 hours gameplay, VERY narrow victory came down to the last actions of the turn, bloody awesome we all agreed, frankly I doubt I will play 40k again, I have found my perfect game <big thumbs up>

We are all looking forward to a another game next week when hopefully I will create a battle log

    Re: Dust...a pleasant break!

Btw, I modified the Red Devils slightly just to make them look a little more interesting. Nothing major, just a matter of slicing through the shoulders or wrists and re-positioning them, half hour to do them all and no fannying about with filler or owt..simples!

Their left shoulder pads are also colour coded to easily identify the seperate squads when in a mass platoon formation

To keep the Apes and future zombies looking more 'horde-ish' I will probably just colour one of the 'rivets' on the base to signify the different squads and keep the zombies all in blue overalls, I just prefer the look of the mass force and of course I am really lazy

    Nice job Bulldog.

To make a difference in the "horde" troops, have you considered a painted/tatooed swastika or ritter kreuz like in the comic books? FFG did away with all nazi iconography, but the original work by Parente makes a liberal use of them. Who knows, maybe zombification is what happened to all those party members that disappeared?

Bit 'o Battlefield bling added. Some 'glowy' destruction markers made from tealights (the electric ones)! and some pillow stuffing, these look brilliant flickering away on the tabletop and literally took minutes to make

    Re: Dust...a pleasant break!

Figured may as well knock one up now while I had the stuff out mate!

Here is a collection of stuff that might come in handy, I have seen a few different ways of doing things, cotton balls, white glue, etc, But this is just the simple way I do things, nice, quick and easy

ps. Don't forget the TEA! Most important thing when stepping into a new project!

Tease the pilllow stuffing into a rough shape, don't worry too much at the moment, once the varnish is on you can scrunch it around a little more

Using the hot glue gun secure the smoke plume around the base of the tea light, try to keep it flush with the bottom and don't obscure the switch or battery compartment
After this I find it a good idea to spray the whole thing with a good coat of varnish, any will do, I used gloss as it's what I had to hand, hairspray would probably have the same effect of stiffening the whole thing up and making it a little more robust

That's pretty much all there is to it! After the varnish has dried it will be close to the consistency of candyfloss, you can re-shape it a little until your happy then spray it in a dark grey colour, use black towards the top of the plume and in the creases.
Now go blow something up, turn on the tea light and mark your victory in twinkling glory!

Beautiful... but you can make them a little smaller if you're going to bring them along at events. Cotton balls glued by spots work fine.
