    Re: Tercio Creativo & 1650?

SERGUS - Yes, I am. The prices are high.

Its roughly a pound to a euro at the moment. Ignoring the postage entirely, theres more impressive sculpting out there at the moment for less.

Thats not to say I don't like the sculpts or think there bad - there lovely sculpts but it all feels like a bit of a wasted effort. Theres nothing here that screams 'buy this, its awesome'. The sculptor has a lot of talent, let him loose on something a lot more evocative.

Price wise.. I look at these, and look at what Red Box Games is putting out, and I can see that my £7 gets me something a lot more interesting from RBG then it does from Tercio at the moment. Thats not to say that in the future there won't be better figures, just that there are better options out there currently.

Then again, price isn't that important - if you like the figures, buy em. If you dont, then don't.

Tad harsh Gomez - While i cant Critasise Red Box and why would i ,as far as fantasy goes its the usual fare. Going on quality of sculpt alone then Enigma Minis would be winning . Malifaux is a mixed bag with regard to quality and scale, Tales of War while being better quality than Malifaux suffer even more from scale creep across the range. IMO of course . Pricewise although (like everyone else,i would like things to be as cheap as possible ) its an average price for single resin character mins these days .

    Thanks.

The Alguacil will be available next week, if the caster can send us the new releases with some of them ( I HOPE so )

Well, we can't change prices because the banks have changed the value of the money. We have to pay the caster, blisters, cards, bases... And all of it is in Euros. Anyway, we're paying 50% of the shipping costs to make it easier for clients.

I agree Red Box Games have GREAT stuff ( I love their miniatures ), but think that their miniatures are real 28 mm. and ours are "heroic" 28 mm. which means they're 35 mm. heigh.

Apart of that, RBG don't have to pay a painter, and maybe don't have to pay the cards, or have their own caster, or don't have distributors ( who receive most of the money )... There are a lot of things you have to think on.

    Re: Tercio Creativo & 1650?

I know the industry well enough to know the costs

Aside from that, looking at your distributors list its not particularly big (there all Spanish based) and whilst they might be taking a portion of direct sales there also promoting your game and your company - distributors are, these days, an integral part of the industry. Its swings and roundabouts, but its your choice to have distributors... if you don't like it or you think there taking money you should be getting, then don't have them

Red Box don't have to pay painters for two reasons. You get to see the original green (which you do) and because you get high end painters wanting to paint them. You'll get that as well in time, but the range isn't impressive enough to attract those people yet and that was my point - for what the price is, I don't see

Even at heroic scale, that takes it into competition with Malifaux, also doing Heroic 28mm (which I always though was 32 but hey, scale shots would help) who offer blisters and cards etc all for again, a cheaper price per figure.

Even when the euro was cheap, other companies were cheaper and theres where I see the problem. Again, I like the figures, but not enough to stump up that much cash per figure.

I haven't told you that I don't like distributors. We're talking about prices and I only told you that the distributors make the prices higher.

Again, I'm not talking about that. I was trying to make you see that RBG is cheaper for some reasons. The paint is one of them, as cards, but having their own caster could be another one.

Oh, and we show the greens too

I'd prefer to be compared with GW, which have bigger "heroic 28 mm." than Wyrd, but ok, if you wish XD The difference in prices with Wyrd isn't so high, and surely they have their own caster. And their paint... well, I think they're not paying the same as we are.

Apart of that, Wyrd had been selling for a long time, before starting to sell Malifaux. I think they were sure to get a lot of sells, and didn't have to put a bhigher price as to their first miniatures, because they could get the quantity they needed with a less price ( I don't know if I was clear with this ).

Again, when the Euro was cheaper, we had to pay in Euros too. Our production is in Spain. No matter if the Euro was better of worse in the other countries. We are Spanish sculptors, painters, and... well, the caster in French, but he lives in Spain too XD

This conversation is being really interesting.

    Re: Tercio Creativo & 1650?

Language break down starting to happen but... lets see how we go.

I haven't told you that I don't like distributors. We're talking about prices and I only told you that the distributors make the prices higher.
You implied that you weren't keen on distibutors by saying.."distributors ( who receive most of the money )", which seems to me to be blaming the distributors for the high price even though they are supporting the product in the first place.

I was trying to make you see that RBG is cheaper for some reasons. The paint is one of them, as cards, but having their own caster could be another one.
I originally said TC charge the same price - RBG aren't cheaper. Its just a superior sculpt. Regarding casting I don't know. I think Tre is running a one man operation, so its highly unlikely that his casting is in house.

The difference in prices with Wyrd isn't so high, and surely they have their own caster. And their paint... well, I think they're not paying the same as we are.
Lets take two very similar figures. The Govenors proxy from the Guild faction from Malifaux (RRP £5), and the Padre Calixto (£8). Writing off the cards as both games have them, and writing off everything else, because to be frank I don't care how much you've paid to have your model painted for yourself (I'm buying the model for me after all), theres not very much difference. Granted, theres marginally more detail on the TC priest but the Proxy has more character so again, a draw.

Lets shave off a pound of the little bit of extra sculpting, and for the expense of outsourcing - thats still a noticeable percent difference in a figure which isn't significantly better.

As I said before, there are other companies charging the same, but doing better. Fancy cards for a game I'll probably never play, and a paint job which is for advertising purposes (the bill for which shouldn't be footed by the customer), can't justify an almost 50% difference from the competition.

Apart of that, Wyrd had been selling for a long time, before starting to sell Malifaux. I think they were sure to get a lot of sells, and didn't have to put a bhigher price as to their first miniatures, because they could get the quantity they needed with a less price ( I don't know if I was clear with this ).
    Kinda.. I think..

They got a lot of sales early on because they targetted a specific market first. The game followed. By creating a painting community first it let the range be a lot more fluid and encouraged the growth which has made them massive.
If you mean quantity of sculpts for the right price, well.. no. They had sculpts from across the industry (there list of sculptors in book one reads like a whos-who of the miniature world) and paid a lot for them.
If you mean for the figures themselves well again, no. They started small like yourselves - you don't just casting thousands of a figure in the hope that it'll sell.

    Oh, and this...
Oh, and we show the greens too
Did you miss the bit where I said that you show the greens.. I did say that you did.. I should have made it clear that if your finding the cost of painting the miniature crippling, wait till the community fills that hole.

Again, like I said, I like the sculpts. There the kind of thing I'd happily whack on an order from Coolmini or maelstrom, but not at that price.

That new guy is lovely, but again, nothing amazing and thats the issue - there should really be a graph of quality to price somewhere. If the model is high enough quality and interesting, you can ask for a kidney and you'd happily get it. But when its nothing that sets it apart from the other stuff thats out there... what do you want me to say?

    Re: Tercio Creativo & 1650?

I wasn't blaming about the distributors. I was explaining to you that the distributors receive most of the money. They get their comission and the shops get theirs. That's all ( some people can't believe that distributors get 60-70 % of the money, and I was trying to explain it ). In fact, if you have a distributor, you have to put a higher price because the distributor get most of the money and, of course, you're not going to work freely.

In conclusion, ALL this conversation is about this: You don't want to pay that price. Ok, I accept it, but I hope I was clear explaining that this price is not our whim. It's the necessary price. I don't know how other companies as GW can charge 15 € por a single resin miniature ( with lots of casting fails ), I only can say that we have to charge 8 € ( 7,95, for being exact ) for it. I could use more examples of companies with similar or worst miniatures which charge the same or much more money, but I think that'd be demagogy.

The rest of this conversation is about personal tastes. Personally, I love Red Box Games stuff, but I have seen only 1 or 2 miniatures from Malifaux that I would buy.

    P.S. You made a mistake there. 7,95 € = £ 6,97 ( more or less £ 7, not £ 8 ).

Sergus, these all look AMAZING! Keep up the excellent work! Or, should I say: ¡Continuar a hacer un excelente trabajo, vale!

PS Keep the Alguacil available! I'm sure many others like myself got interested because of that particular mini. That, and the limited two-man and terrain/counter kit you had (Plaza Fuerte?) should be basic products of your store I'd love to have the original kitbwith the pieces of ruin terrain!

It's available since a few weeks ago. And it's interesting you talk about the terrain, because we're thinking about doing new pieces.

Really nice models there. I love the lady pirate (and I don't really like pirates at all) and the halberd guy. Nice, "solid" looking models.

Not sure about the Malifaux comparisons, but then again I'm not at all a fan of Malifaux models.
