Good looking skavens there man. The weathering is quite good, and the freehand is simple but pretty effective. The unit will look great once together.

Those clanrats look really nice. The weathering on the armour and weapons works very well as does the limited pallette.
Good job

Finished models look great. Good use of weathering.

Intresting colour scheme, I like that veridgris type blue with the goldish cloth.
I second that. Teal is not a color usually seen on skaven, thumbs up for being 'adventurous' with your color scheme.

Hi mate, I really like your work so far, the models look really unified (limited palettes can be a good thing!) - the teal colour you're using for the mushrooms, clothes and verdigris effect ties everything together really well. It's also a colour you don't see painted very often so extra points to you for an unusual choice!
I especially love the mushrooms, I don't think they need any white spots, personally!
Your bases are great too, what are you using, resin slate from a basing kit or real stone??
Hello again Warseer!
Sorry for the lack of updates. Real life ganked me with a wicked 10 hit combo and I have been neglecting my poor ratmen the last few weeks.
On the plus side my travels around the country have put me into the vicinity of some hobby stores which allowed me to pick up some basing materials and a bit of an impulse buy: a Doomwheel
Gonna struggle to not paint it right away but I'm with-holding it until I've made more progress on the foot troops.
Have just finished the second rank of 5 for the clanrat unit, the sun is behind some clouds at the moment but I couldn't wait till tomorrow so shot them anyway.
Changed up the facial skin/hair markings for these ones, I like this look better.
Have also completed the bases of the first five so here is a shot of all of them ranked up.
Thanks again for all the support guys, appreciate the kind words.

Glad you like it! Was my first time trying out weathering metallics, it’s not perfect but I like the effect.

Thanks man, I'm trying to balance painting to the best of my abilities with so many models to paint. In a unit of 40 wondering if I should do 3 highlight levels of a colour or the 5 I want to do is a fine line between results and sanity ha-ha.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, started to wonder if I wasn’t limiting myself a bit too much lol

Appreciate the comments fella's. Was worried at first that the scheme was too far off the skaven "norm" but my misgivings are starting to fade as it has grown on me enough.

Thanks for the comments Alex, Teal and orange are my favourite colours to paint so unless I watch myself some more orange might sneak in besides the rust and eyes.
Sorry for going against your advice but my friend convinced me the mushrooms needed dots. Think they turned out alright, I've taken to calling them Nightcaps in my head as they look a bit like stars in the night sky (too much pipe while painting?)
The bases are real stone. It’s an actual slate tile that I "recovered" from a building site. Just smashed it up into smaller sections.
The wood on the bases is also real, they are root sections of weeds cleaned out during my gardening mission’s hehe.
Next up is the Command rank of the clanrat unit. A small break before the last 5 clanrats for this unit.
Drop me a comment and let me know what you think, they are all appreciated![]()
Very nice clanrats mate, it's good to see them in something other than the regular drab browns and reds. Kudos for putting so much effort into your bases as well, they really finish the models off nicely

I'm loving your colour scheme. It's really original, defiantly not something I'd have thought of. The bases are really effective aswell.
I like how you painted their faces. lovely. Keep it up!
Great rust effect on the weapons there! What I also like about these is they look genuinely evil and disgusting (in a good way!) - way too many people do great paint jobs that only succeed in making the little blighters look fluffy and cute!
Great job!
Really nice quality on the skavens manIt's very high painting standard for skavens and it looks awesome
Keep it up!![]()
Hello again Warseer.
Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated. Been on a rather extended painting break but recently picked up my brush again and got some work done on my skaven.
Have completed the last rank
As well as the Command rank with banner, quite happy with how it came out
Here are some pictures of the first 20 completed clanrats all ranked up.
Also here is a WIP of something I wanted to make, inspired by a user on this forum named Mr.Saturday. How many of you can guess what it is? Will prob end up in one of my slave unit fillers.

Love your rats, the verdigris on the armour is a very nice touch. But seriously, that fimir slaver is fantastic. The sculpting on the head is great. I demand you paint him instantly.
(Oh, and the mushrooms. Love the mushrooms.)
Great painting, great bases! I'll be following this =)!

Thanks for the kind words guys. Have started work on an old Mordheim Eshin Rat Ogre not entirely stoked on how the skin tone is coming out but ill wait till the highlights are layered on before judging myself too harshly.
Seems I better move the Firmir up in the painting schedule![]()
Hey Gonzilla,
Very nice metal, rust and blue color you picked there. Any chance of reveiling a bit of your color secret?
Keep up the good work!
