    Monstrous Arcana

The new warhammer forge look. I don't know if its SoM or open to normal WFB rules.

It's a work in progress with upto 53 monsters being added.

Each lore of magic gets an elemental, the lore of beasts one we have seen.

Skaven get a few new monsters like the hellpit destroyer etc etc

Their are entries for fimir warriors.

Serpent Men of Kuresh or similar.

    Dread Saurian an ethereal dinosaur

Lots of other names but the rules writer I was talking to stated its all work in progress and could change.

    Oh for chaos dwarves

Big armoured suites with fire demons trapped inside, the initial sketch has Japanese style demon face masks.
80 imperial guard stormtroopers for sale
11 chaos dwarf bull centaurs for sale

Edit: It sounds like a SoM supplement, hard to see how it could just be monsters otherwise.

Sounds moderately interesting - do non-chaos dwarfs get something this time?

Sounds like a canny book, shouldn't be too expensive, much like the apoc books FW have done

I guess that is not a bad way of describing it.
    It is a bestiary.
    A book full of monsters.
All laid out as scrolls of binding like in SoM
My sense of it was the Monsters in the book would have both a SoM style scroll of binding and if it was clearly for a particular army like a Skaven monster then the rules for using it with your Skaven army would be included.

Also I think the aim is to complete all the monsters in the book in a year ... so by next Gamesday ... not next December.

They are off to a good start by including in the book everything they have so far.

After this another 'Imperial Armour/Tamurkhan' style book detailing another epic clash between good and evil.

But NOT Chaos. The plans for the full series of Chaos books as originally imagined has been shelved.

Good, I always felt the four books idea would get old quite quickly. How often can you read about a Chaos army slaughtering all who oppose them?

That is really, really sad. It would be epic to see them. Chaos + clash with some other armies like elves, DE, Brett's etc. Any idea nwhy they shelved it? I thought Tumurkhan did well in sales. I bought one, would be cool to have all 4 chaos powers in a campaign series.

Supposedly GW got cold feet about the timeline advancing in the Tumurkhan book, Rick Priestley argued, they fired him and the book was hastily rewritten to its current form and its 3 companion books were scrapped.

That's not true. I don't remember hearing Rick ever mentioning that at all and he has been very open about what happened.

IMHO 4 books about Chaos Power vs Whatever in a row would be massively dull. I'm very glad that FW/WF took the same viewpoint.

I was to that there would be 55 monsters all of which would be released by December next year, though a few we have already seen, i.e carmine dragon, elemental of beasts, siege giant. There was a sketchbook with some really cool looking sketches in:

    Elemental of shadows
Wolf rats - saw the models of these
    Something-wolves look like awesome warewolvea
    Cd bull centaurs
    Swamp-hulk? I can't remember if this was it's name
Undead thing - maw worm? Corpse worm?
    Basilisk
Another skaven thing, not the brood horror - can't remember the name!

I should have written notes sorry!

Oh and venus flytrap like plants that can move, I know it sounds lame and comical but the sketch was cool and i to the designers who described it and it sounded awesome

These I have been waiting for since WH 3rd. Never had time to convert, now I won't have to. I am begining to really like the look of where FW are going - maybe they can help their parent company back on the path...

I realise it's early days for a lot of this stuff... but I don't suppose you could elaborate on the swamp hulk at all? With a fenbeast in the works to proxy as a gorger for the army this sounds like something I could use ...maybe as a giant?

Triffids? (The day of the Triffids by John Wyndham).

Maybe it will be better to stay with just three armies to get them nice and big. Any news on what dwarfs will get?

    Re: Monstrous Arcana

Great news. One thing I never understood is why GW kept themselves so limited in the wonderful creatures department. Especially when every now and then you would hear the words "we are a miniature company, not a wargame company", I was always baffled by the fact that their releases were always and only those for armies for which a book was released, or at least rules.

It's good to see them releasing some more wonderful (in the magical sense) stuff now, even if it is mostly FW (The Cockatrice being a wonderful exception).

Can't wait for those walking plants. I imagine the Super Mario plants.
