    Wolfram 1st Armoured Division

I'm making this a project log to avoid cluttering the Imperial Foot Soldier thread with minor updates.

The basic theme of the army is that it's based on late WW2 German units (both Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS), who had an eclectic collection of uniforms and camouflage patterns towards the end.

A few things to note before I start:
    a) I no longer play the game. This means I won't necessarily make my models fit the rules of the IG Codex, more like what I think they would be carrying.

    b) Although the title implies a large number of tanks, I won't be making that many vehicles (or troops for that matter). Most the ones I do make will end up as part of mini-dioramas or the like.

    c) I finish models at a speed that makes Continental Drift seems dizzying.......

I posted pictures of the first guy in the Foot Soldiers thread. Here's some new pics in better lighting (edit:just noticed one of the 'bits' on the front of his helmet has fallen off...****! ):

I can't believe no-one posted in this thread!

I love this model! Reminds me a little of the British Para's in A Bridge Too Far!

As sais before, has a real para look to it, very nice. Are all the models Inc commanders going to have the same?

    Thanks for the replies.

The para look wasn't entirely intentional, but I like it, so the idea I had was that I'd do some that were even more para-inspired. They would have a more beaten-up look to them, so it would look like they were airborne troops that were holding out until the tanks could relieve them.

The mechanized/armoured troops should look more obviously German-inspired from now on.

    I posted the almost-ready-to-paint commander in M,P & T General a while back:

Unfortunately, right now, I'm being buried by work and study so I haven't really touched the models since then. I'll try and make some progress sometime soon, but right now I've got no painting mojo.

    Sorry about that guys..

Second guy looks much more WWII german to me. How will you do the vehicles ? GW or kit-bash with 1/48 kits ? Scratchbuilt ? Just curious.

    Troopers look ace !

So now that exams are out of the way I've made a little bit of progress (emphasis on little!).

Almost done with the officer chap - still some details and tidy-ups to do:

Also decided on how the basic troopers should look for the mechanised units:

And started on a officer belonging to the airbourne troops they're supposed to be coming to the aid of:

His trousers need to be darkened a bit, but looks okay so far I think.

As for vehicles, I've not decided yet. Really don't like standard IG vehicles, so I'll be doing some sort of kit bash with 1/48 or even 1/35 (got an old Tamiya Panther kit lying around - might steal the wheels). Probably I'll lengthen a Chimera hull and probably do something with a FW Gryphonne Vanquisher turret.

The comander conversion looks brilliant! Also I like how you've shaven the Cadian helmets down to look more German; great idea. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more!

    Thanks!

Officer is done (I'll stop myself being too fussy over him before I go insane), save for the varnishing:

Very WIP pics of the next guy to be converted:

This is a nod to the fact that the Germans used to run holding their guns in one hand only. Hopefully I can get the Necromunda lasgun to look a bit more like an StG44.
Also- old, unfinished paint jobs FTL.....

Shout if you see any glaring problems with the pose or anything else.

Like that running trooper. Only problem i can spot would be him parting with his gun or base onroute to the next game.

    Great work !

    Thanks!

I'll try and pin everything together on that running trooper as securely as I can.

    Re: Wolfram 1st Armoured Division

Got a bit more time to work on this now that the semester is over.

Finished painting one of the guys I put up as WIP and also made an attempt at pea-dot camo:

Don't think it works that well in 28mm scale and it was time consuming to paint but I think it looks okay.

Also working on a 3 man heavy stubber team since I figure trying to haul heavy bolters in and out of vehicles would be slightly silly.
