Good work overall. YOur wraiths are great, and that vampire on steed is wonderful !

I like also your Grom conversion, the addition of that little joker goblin is cool and funny. Where did you get him (I know it's a GW's model, but from what set/game does it come?)

@azhagmorglum - Cheers Mate. I'm pretty sure the Goblin Jester is from Warhammer Quest, an expansion maybe.
I picked him up of ebay he is full of character!!

I have had a little test paint on some of the dreaded mantic skellies and I think I'm gonna continue down this route rather than the more traditional bone colour.
Any way here is a very boring wip photo.

I must say that is possibly the first time I've seen the Mantic skeletons up close, thanks for putting up the photo, it's not "boring" at all. I was curious about the design, having seen their ghouls and being absolutely smitten by the amount of detail and overall quality and I can see the skeletons are on the same high level. I'm very interested in your proceedings with them.

I think it would be cool to try out the boys on the cold ones. I don't know the size differences though. Great work on the vampire knights.

Yes, the jester is Gubbinz from Warhammer Quest.

I think boys on cold ones should work, are they not about the same size as saurus warriors, and those ride cold ones.

Nice knights by the way, that was a true slaughter fest.

    Top notch stuff dude

The painting on the skeletons is a great idea. I like the ghost look. I wont be doing anything similar, but it really is a nice idea

The blood knights are brilliant! I might copy that idea I really like their look, compared to the usual blood knight models.

    Overall: Lovely blog mate

Ok I finally have an update! Its been a long time coming but just could not get motivated to paint those mantic skellies.

Anyways I will reply to the comments then for some pics.

@ sully I'm glad you liked the wip shot. Like you said these guys are detailed but I just can't bring myself to like them

@mdiscala Defo gonna give the lustria Orc army a go. Just need to wait till after Xmas so I can afford it. Glad you like the knights.

@little joe A slaughter fest indeed

@Morten C Thanks for the comment. Massive fan of your log. Thanks for the encouragement it sure helps!

@azhagmorglum I managed to get "gubbinz" in a job lot. I have since seen him sell for quite alot. Good luck in your hunt.

Re: My first attempt tofp-Vampire Counts

Ok here are a few photos, bear in mind these skellies took about 5 minutes each to paint.

The keen eyed who have followed the log may notice that they have stolen the zombies movement tray this will be remedied in the coming days.

Also here is group shot of everything I have completed so far in the tale of the fantasy painters.

As always really appreiciate any comments it really helps!

really like your paintjobs! I have to admit I am not a fan of the whole other system zombies and skeles. But i like the idea of using the graveguard as cairns, but one quick question. Would they be wearing steel coloured armour?

Re: My first attempt tofp-Vampire Counts

    Thanks for the comments guys.

@Jkz Bothe the techniques you have asked about are very easy and take very little time. The Etheral effects are just the light grey foundation base coat with thrakka wash and the same foundation dry brushed over the top. The blood is just tamiya clear red, the darker bits have black or purple mixed in.

@Cragum - I think you are right and don't think they would be wearing "real" armour but I wanted to add gore and this was an easy way of doing that.

I have got an update for the log but it is mostly greenskins though, a bit of a cop out for this months tale entry just 3 boring bases of spirit hosts. I haven't had much time this month, what with christmas and getting married its been hectic to say the least!!

Will upload pictures when I finish work later this evening.

Re: My first attempt tofp-Vampire Counts

Here is this months entry for the tale.

Bit of cop out and not very exciting but I had a hectic december as previously said getting married and christmas took its toll on my already limited painting time.

I havent been totally idle though and have also been touching up some very old orcs I made before the lovely new boar boyz were released. Here is a few pics of them.

Couldn't get a good group shot and they are still wip. I'm tempted to start another log for them as I am getting green fever again. I got these boyz for xmas and was very excited!

I think I have the pictures I've uploaded may be too big I will try to rectify this tomorrow as I am to tired tonight!

*Edit* so I've resized my pics in photobucket to 1/2 size but when I try to upload them they are MASSIVE still can anyone offer me any insight into this problem?

Your army has really grown since I last checked it. Obviously the tale of fantasy painters is really helping to motivate you.

The Blood Knights looks superb, really brutal looking and gory.

Great use of the mantic miniatures too and great painting all round.

Looking forward to what comes next whether it be dead or green
Marius Leitdorf is not dead, I bumped into him in Tesco last week.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

    @movin_pics Thanks mate
@The Yak Thank you mate should be a small update of the green variety soon.
@LocaLicious Cheers the tale has been a great motivation for me and has really helped me get some of the more mundane things painted (looking at you skellies).

The next update I do will be more than likely be something savage orc related, as I have started to assemble these last night whilst watching the first episode of sky 1s treasure island (which was pretty good fun).

Do you think I should start a new blog for the orcs? as I cannot change the title here, or should I just leave it all together here under the vampire count title?
