The Dragonback wars - Greenskins and undead creatures..

    Hello fellow warseer's!

So, I have decided to expand my modeling to this page as well as da warpath, as I've started spending quite some time in here.

This blog will contain the creation of three armies for a campaign called the Dragonback wars. It actually haven't godt much to do with dragons, but the battles will be located around Dragonback mountain i the Badlands. The three armies will be O&G, VC and Brets. So far I've only build on the greenskin army, but that's about to change.

The greenskin army has been growing for nearly one and a half year now, so it's starting to include most of the orc entries. It still needs a lot of the goblins though, and I'm planning on makin 6 of each troll race, so far I've only created 6 stone trolls.

But i Figured it would only be good to start out with some greenskin army shots. They're not very good, cauz there isn't really space for an army in a photo tent, but I hope you can get some atmosphere out of it. It's very nordic mythology inspired.

I will not be posting any further pics of stuff that I have alredy created, unless it's be request from a fellow user, as all WIPs and individual shots are alredy located in my Da Warpath BLOG

    Hope you like them

This is looking rly promissing indeed I'm looking forward to see how this project exspands!
It's fun for me to see so many non-GW models (I'm not too familiar with other brands)
Are the VC and Brets going to be a mix up as well, or?

Best of luck with the project!

Wow nice looking force. Excellent work all around. The Arachnarok in particular stands out really well.

Thanks both of you Actually it was the plan to only make greenskins and Brets, but that was when i hoped Brets would be next in line for a new book, or more precise: some new knight models. I have been looking at gamezone's knights, but they aren't really what I'm looking for either. And then i heard the rumor for new VC, and I really love skeleton warriors and necromancers, so I'm looking forward to starting on that Actually i was planning on having finished the greenskin army by now, but then i started sculpturing the trolls, and it was so entertaining, that I just have to do more

As for the models, i have nothing against GW, and i love most of their VC models, and all of the bretonnian peasants. The reason for all the different orc models, is that i don't like GW's greenskins. But a rarely just paint up models, I convert and create bits myself, and i hope to make the other armies look really cool

all in all, it should be three very different armies, and I am looking forward to have enough models to start the smaller battles. The plan is to start the games at mordheim scale, and then, as the VC and Brets army grow, scale up to warhammer sizes, and end of with big games, but that's wayyy out in the future

    Cheers!

    Thanks mate.

Well, it's a big mix, but i think there are most models from Ral paratha. But there is also a lot of reaper minies, old viking forge orcs, fictive miniatures orcs and i made 20 out of stormvermins/ungors and greenstuff

Thanks mrtn. The trolls are my favorites at the moment, and they really were a joy to model. I hadn't got much experience with greenstuff before making the trolls, so it was a real victory They are based on the trolls from the movie "The troll hunter".

After I have painted goblins and warmachines (or maybe at the same time) I plan on making additional 6 common trolls and 6 river trolls.

Wow! Fantastic army! My favourite I've seen on the forums I think and I don't even like orcs normally! Love the giant smurf like giant, the trolls and the shaman with the frost effect!

I can't wait to see what you do with the bretonnians!

Not much to do with dragons except for that honking Great Spined Dragon, eh?! That and rest look great! Clearly the result of a lot of work by a very skilled hand. And as was mentioned there is a ton of variety in here. Really cohesive though, at the same time.

Don't know if I've seen an army of mostly these Bob Olley orcs before. Not a huge Olley fan but these are some of my favorites from him. The barefoot berserker ones especially, which I have 3 of. Was thinking about using them as ogres for my 25mm d&d.

Who are the trolls by? They have a great fairy-tale quality.

I am a follower of your bretonnian blog as well. I stalk all the bretonnian blogs i can, just to get inspiration, and I'm sucker for peasants, so i enjoy following it!

Oh yeahr, there almost had to be one dragon, right And they variety is really great for me. It does take really long time to paint, but if I have to paint the same model over and over, I just quit, so it's the lesser of two evils And I love the end result

They're also big enough to be savage orc big 'uns in my army, so they should do fine as ogres in 25mm. They're from Ral partha. They make the best orcs IMO. And the level of texture detail is amazing, compared to a GW plastic model.

I made the trolls out of greenstuff The fluff is inspired by nordic mythology and the look is inspired by the "the troll hunter"-movie, Dragons and daemons roleplaying game and some some drawing i found on the internet. I made a tutorial Here!
