Dee's Chaos Army of Intended Mammoth Proportions

Right well I have a project log on this army on a few sites now so I thought I would share it with the wonderful denizens of Warseer

Pictures of the army and work done so far at located in this thread....sorry I can't be buggered wading through 100's of pictures in my photobucket account

    http://www.miniwargaming.com/forum/v...=57752&start=0

The idea behind the army is a display army of about 2000 points for each god (roughly - I hate being restricted) and then 2000 points of unaffilated stuff like, forsaken, hellcannons etc etc and then a greater demon to sit behind the army in the display cabinet. I have also been asked to display this in Warhammer World.

I can just about scrape 2000 points if I take my chosen as regular warriors but so I felt it was time to add some more core before I start on more big stuff like the Forgeworld Toad Dragon, although that will take the planned nurgle stuff over the 2000 but then you can never have enough hairy, bloated and diseased psychos in my opinion.

So I started work on 20 warriors, they are armed with hand weapons, shields and polearms (halberds - which is too restrictive in my opinion). Halberds are made from brass rod, warrior axe/hammer heads, bits of plasticard tube sharpened into a point and the hand that was originally holding the hand weapon. I have given some right handed shields and some holding the halberds with 2 hands so there is a little variety in the unit. I have also resculpted all the fur on the warriors, just to give them a slightly different look to normal run of the mill warriors, and personally I prefer how it has turned out....far less cartoony.

Have some WIP pictures of the Warriors.

    Working up the metal.

Metal ready for finer detaling like rust drips etc

    Horns done.

and thats where we are at.

Now that's how I dreamed of my Games Day Sorcerer would look

I have seen your stuff knocking around the net before Dee, extremely impressive. I don't think I have the words to describe how good the GUO is, how long did it take you?

    @ Roostmanuva

Thanks, hope you enjoy what I have planned

    @ restlesswargamer

Thanks mate. The GUO was also my Golden Demon entry that was swapped by Alan Merritt for a new release model after being chosen by all the other judges as one of the final three....so much for democracy

    @ Evil Hypnotist

Took few weeks mate, not actually sure exactly, it was a GD entry so a lot of love went into it, read above for that little more info though. And I am sure you will see my stuff floating about mate I post enough of it

    @ mdiscala

    Thanks matey

    @ Thalenchar

    Cheers mate

    @ Monkey

Hello buddy long time no see. Been on warseer for a while mate posting various bits and bobs

    *EDIT*

    @ Meraklis

I only use my airbrush basecoat and varnish at the moment I am far too useless with it for anything else at the moment although I do intend to remedy that soon. I am assuming when you say whats my set up you are referring to my airbrush setup? and to that question I have a cheap and cheerful Revel Airbrush for donkey work but I also have a proper expensive one a mate gave me (as it have "to Richy With Love Kelly" engraved on the side and he had split up with the chick) but not sure what make it is have only used it once when I was airbrushing the vegetation on my catachan display base for golden demon and it worked a treat.

    @ Glenning

    Thank matey

    @ Martijn

airbrushing the basecoats took 10mins for a nice super smooth coat. Next up is either the BSB (the jugger in the background :P ) or possibly I am going to start work on the Nurgle Warshrine, which is currently forming in my mind.

Painting is beautiful, such nice blended colours, wish i had the patience to go to the level of detail you seem to have on your models, had a browse through your other gallery some really nice stuff, i really liked the marauder horsemen, i'll have to have a full browse through of the gallery can't wait to see more

Can I ask why you scuplted over the fur on the Warriors?

Great miniatures all round on these very inspirational.

Re: Dee's Chaos Army of Mammoth Intended Proportions

To put it simply, the armor is stunningly great. For me, it is exactly how Chaos warriors are supposed to look. I wish I could do metals half as well.

Also, I like the 'batch' approach you seem to be taking. But to to so many at once without the loss of quality... that's skill, my man.

Re: Dee's Chaos Army of Mammoth Intended Proportions

    @ Superdan21

Thanks a lot. Its a labour of love my friend I like to intimidate my opponent before a dice is ever rolled Have to say though the level of detail on your own Empire army isn't too shabby either matey....when I started WFB 3 years ago I had two choices that leaped out at me, Empire or Chaos, so I have soft spot for Empire

    @ RTGamer

Two words mate....Comicbook Fur....or is that three? I don't really like the look of fur on warriors so i re-sculpt it. if you have a look at this snap fit chaos warrior I painted to define painting standards for my commission painting (which I sadly had to knock on the head recently due to time wasters) I did the same, gives it a more realistic fur look in my opinion.

    @ Sully

Thanks mate, I am getting mucho praise for the armour on a lot of sites I post on. And like you it's how I see Nurgle Chaos Warriors also, luckily I can usually paint what I have in my mind
