    Mutant warband of Tzeentech

    It all began years ago.

But right now, ve're all zat are left.

Zere might be a plan, there might be a story ahead, but right now, we just need to survive.

Just six of uz left now:

    Experiment DS-X9

I'ze nezer heard him talk. Sometims, when he's full and happy, he might hum a little and during a fight I've heard him buzz, but actual werds, nezer.
The professor uzed to call him 'zer guard dog'. I don't think he sleeps – I've not zeen under hiz bandagez, but I think the wiring procesz did someting to his brain. I'dz rather stand behind him in a fight, put it zat way.

    Steef Rat.

Heez a smart guy. Built zat gun out of what we could grab before ze castle fell. Look up in zee big picture. He'z ze one hiding behind ze wall, staying well behind DSX9. Like I zaid, smart guy. I getz worried zat hiz body might be unstable - his face and the zun don't like each ozzer. If ze melting get'z too bad, maybe we'll have to do a leetle corrective zurgery. Have to find a donor firzt.

    Warpig

Heeze not the sharpest tool in zer shed. I zink the proffessor always intended him to haz wingz, but never got further zen zee tail. Still, he waz alwayz zer favoured one – got zer best bonez to gnaw, help the proffesor getting bodiez. He ezen got to throw zee the switch once!
Still, zat waz den. Now, eeze still az dumb az a rock, hungry az zer rest of us and hazen't ezen got my good lookz to make up for it.

    Jaegerkin

Zee proffessor called me 'a good first step'. I uzed to help him lay parts out on zee slab and do zome of the stitching for him. Zat was zer good old dayz. I've got zer ozzer gun in zee gang. Itz an old hunting shotrifle we used to uze to clean up the dungeon afterwards. It might not shoot az fast as Steef's contraption, but we tendz to get the zame number dead. My leetle knife is rezerved for zurgery, so tends to get zome use after a fight, depending how many are still breathing.

    Old Bird Man Bill.

It started wiz zer playing cards. After a few rounds of Weir, he uzed to shuffle zee pack and tell fortunez wiz zem. After a while, zer fortunes got weirder and more accurate. We stopped asking, but he would still spread zee cardz sometimes. It waz weird but we'ze all got our quirkz.
Zen, when zer mob attacked zee castle, we were trapped fighting zeese big guyz in black armour. Zer waz only two of zem, but zey fought like demonz. One chopped Billz arm off, and turned to finish me off. Zomething grew out Bill'z shoulder and wavered in zee air for a few seconds, rippling wiz colourz. Then Bill punched straight through zer guyz armour.

I wouldn't mind so much, but zer guy had taken Billz head off wiz his return stroke. He wearz zer bird mask now so we know where to talk to.

    Moordenaar
Zee professor always said zis was hiz one true succezz. He never makes a sound, not even when hurt. He dances through battle, throwing fireballs faster zen me and steef can shoot put together. At least, I zink zey are fireballs, although zey sometimes look more like eyez. Those hookz on his back let him climb anyzing, normally we only know he’ze turned up for a fight when ze glowing orbz start flying from some strange place. Ee dozen’t eat, drink or sleep wiz us, nor ever take off zat mask. I’ze seen him meditating before, hanging from a beam in a deserted house, and he and Old Bird Man haz some sort of understanding, but I’ze no idea what zer two of zem are planning. We’ze just trying to survive right?

Before I start putting primer down, I'm looking for some pretty harsh critisim.

Anything that's disliked or you think I could do better?

It's difficult to tell how orky they are going to end up looking without colours. The little potted biographies are great though.

hmm. took a good look at the half painted models last night.

apart from the fact visiting children has disarmed DS-X9, Warpig looks way to much like an ork (ironic, considering it's not actually a normal ork body I used)

adjustments to the two of them will happen

I look forward to painted models. Hopefully that will de-orkify them. Orks just have such an identifiable look.

    Creative use of bits!

    What rules will they use?

    orks

it's a 40k/necromunda bash that a friend cooked up. 60pt army, no minimum restrictions (except no vehicles). Each model counts as it's own unit.
Nearly everything follows 40k rules, except damage and special weapons which use necormunda tables.

Might be able to twist his arm into running an Inquistor campaign in 28mm as well.

I am seriously considering swapping out Warpig for a pair of Beholders (grots), and I'd also like to make a Tzeentech equivalent of a Dethkopta and a Stormboy. Maybe I'll just keep working on them so I have a roster to pick from....

This is looking like a lot of fun! I like the story you tell with each of the guys. At first, I thought this might be some ork/Tzeentch hybrid army. Ze narrator haz a bit a zat ork talk goinz on. But looking at it all together it definately has a mutant warband look.
    Looking forward to the painting

    Re: Mutant warband of Tzeentech

I really like these guys. I'm going to do an army of Mutants for Fantasy (And maybe some for 40K as well, depending on a few things.) and I have some ideas about an army like this using more Human looking mutants. I was thinking that the "doctor" could be Fabius Bile, and the Mutants were part of an army he created to defend his fortress. When the Black Legion show up to kill Fabius Bile's cloning of Horus, the Castle is destroyed, and now the surviving mutants have to fend off a world of Grotesques, half-man machines, and other Mutant Bands. It would be kinda cool to add some more Human looking mutants, representing the regular Heretic Guard brought up by the Black Legion to fight with them. Just some food for thought. Or is it Thought for food?

Alexos - that's definitely what I intended the fluff the mean. definitely. Just as planned. ahem.

the most orky of the bunch, and an ork:
pardon the darkness of the image, I'd have to wait until the weekend to see daylight.

There is a subtle difference (Warpigs snout, DSX9's waist and tail), but they could probably be repainted and fielded with my orks no problem.

the others got the arms cut down slightly to make them more human proportionate - not sure what I could do here.

Swap the weapons out for something equally crude, barbaric but not orky?

Give Warpig wings? (he was originally going to be a flying monkey)

    Redo DSX9's loin cloth?

Mmmmh, they still seems too ork-ish to me, but I like the concept.
This is the war-ravaged world of Warhammer, and there's only WAR!... and hammers.

as in I was just making it up as I went along, and bizarrely you seem to have been able to fit it straight into one of the main story arcs of 40K!

as a minion of Tzeentech, what else can I say?
