In short, when you succesfully cast a spell from the Lore - the wizard or any one friendly model within 12" recovers one wound lost earlier in the battle.

Hmm, I like the idea of the Hexwraiths and the two new engines, I just don't like the models very much. Still, if you wanted to use them it wouldn't be very hard to come up with suitable conversions for them so it shouldn't really be a problem.

    Re: Vampire Counts

Thank you very much for the pictures.

The Wight King is absolutely stunning for a plastic character.
The special characters look great, but since they are Finecast I'll probably do without them.

The Black Knights however will definitely find their way into my collection. Not sure about the second option from that kit, the Hexwraiths look silly to me, but that may be to blame on the paintjob.

Since I'm not a fan of GW's Ghouls, making them bigger in the Ghoul Brethren does nothing for me. The Vargheists aren't really to my liking either.

The Coven Throne/Mortis Engine is incredible. That thing blows me away.

And a very Happy Christmas to you too. Thanks ZAlpha
IMHO as an initial first impression, the coven throne/engine looks fantastic, black knights look good and the giant ghouls look worse then their smaller siblings. Obviously with the characters being finecast there's pretty much no hope that the actual product will look even remotely as good as those shown in the photos.
    Finecast models purchased 9
Finecast models returned due to very poor quality 9
    Finecast = 100% epic fail

It looks like Kemmler might be in the book as well. Just look at the quote under Krell.

    Re: Vampire Counts

Krell looks like a real beast, buffed up and everything. Shame all the vampires have the "My mouth is open because I like to shout" face but oh well. Not suprised they chose the ghost/ethereal motif for the new models. It's a good difference from TK and their constructs. Thank you very much for these pics!!

Very nice. One thing that looks odd is the size of the base for the Black Couch (Mortis Engine). It looks so top heavy. Surprising considering GWs recent love of overly huge bases (Arachnarok/Terrorgheist)

I think you meat the Coven throne/Mortis engine.

I agree. it looks like a chariot base to me which is small compered to the model.

    Re: Vampire Counts

I like the Von Carstein upgrade kit as well, and i truly hope that it comes in other bloodlines as well for a truly unique army... Oh and now we know what the hellwraith is ;o)

    Re: Vampire Counts

The fluff under Krell gives the impressing that Heinrich Kemmler will be making an appearance. At least his model is being made into finecast, makes me wonder about him being added to the book.

Haven't had time to read the whole issue yet. (my own copy hasn't arrive in the mailbox)

From a quick flip thru... (though some may not be accurate - don't get too excited)

The Coven thing is a chariot mount for your Vampire (it IS on a chariot base, in case some people wonder), with two pallid handmaiden who has always strike first...and creepy ethereal things that has 2D6 attacks. (maybe move as ethereal as well, not sure)

However, I think it is quite expensive (seeing about 6xx points at the Battle Report for this entry (cost include the Vamp, indeed)

Also, if I'm not mistaken... before the first enemy model could try to strike your Vampire, they must roll a D6 and add their LD, compare to your roll (add Ld as well) and suffer penalties depending on the difference of the outcome.

Crypt Horrors are nice with S4 T5 3A and 3W each.... regeneration, poisoned attack. Pretty much like beefed up Ghouls.

And since they are Monstrous Infantry, they will put loads of poisoned attacks as well as Stomp.

    That's all I can remember...

    Cheers,
    ZAlpha
