Kroot in the Underhive Rules (2.6 WIP)

    Howdy all.

Some friends and I have been working on some rules to use Kroot within the world of Necromunda. Its WIP at the moment but almost finished. We are looking for feedback and playtests if anyone is interested in checking it out

    Enjoy.

So please download, playtest, read, review and let me know what everyone thinks.

One thing that we have been wondering about currently (but its not in the document yet) is maybe a chart for the beast handlers recruting new Beasts into the Kindred.

Since finding beasts within the hive would be a bit harder than in the wastes, we are thinking it might be an idea to add a chart for the Handlers to go "Hunting" sorta similar to the one within the Ork rule set.

    eg:
"If you wish to aquire a new beast for the gang within the Underhive you must send one Beast handler "hunting" He must miss the next game in order to do so. Roll 1D6 after the next game to find out what he has managed to find.

1-3 Nothing found - if he chooses to miss another game to continue the hunt add +1 to the next dice roll at the end of the next game. The Beast handler who performed the Hunt gains 1D6 experiance for his efforts.

4-5 Medium beast found - The gang may recruit a single medium beast at the appropriate cost. The Beast handler who performed the Hunt gains 2D6 experiance for his efforts.

6+ Large beast found - The Gang may recruit a singe Large beast at the appropriate cost. The Beast handler who performed the Hunt gains 3D6 experiance for his efforts.

    Thoughts?

Well, without the ability to playtest currently, it looks pretty good overall. Definitely something I'll want to try out when I get the chance.

A few small things, some are about game mechanics, some are just textual:

Under "Feeding the Kindred", it looks like you have a typo. In one place you put the feeding cost at 2 credits, and later on you make it 3. 3 would be more appropriate IMO.

Under "Crossbow", the "something or other" should be "bolt" (the crossbow equivalent of an arrow is a bolt).

Under the "Spear" special rules, you don't specify whether the spear is unavailable as a HTH weapon for the rest of the game, or merely the rest of that turn (ie. can it be retrieved?).

Under "Kroot Gun", some minor grammatical errors.

Under "Spear Gun/Bolt Thrower", it says that if the model is re-loading, it cannot fight in close combat. This is a bit vague. Should probably specify that the model is automatically hit if charged in CC. Alternately, the model can fight in CC if charged, but has to spend an additional turn re-loading. My personal preference is the latter; but both make sense.

Under "Ancestor Worship / Mark of the Favoured Child", instead of an unmodifiable armour save, I'd make it a simple Inv save.
    Armies:
Eldar - Craftworld Badb LanFari [2500+ points]

Eldar - The All Singing, All Dancing, All Harlequin Army of Sparkly Doom [2500+ points, unpainted]
Dark Eldar - The Kabal of the Stygian Abyss [building and painting]
The Devoured (Chaos Eldar) [codex in development - beta]

Thanks for the reply lunch Thanks for the pickups.

The feeing of the kindreds should be 2 each. Same as the scavvies and ratskin gangs that start outlaw gangs. Kroot are not that fussy about what they eat. If its meat they will eat it (provided its not chaos tainted or nid flesh).

The crossbow description was copy pasted from the ratskin rule set I know they fire bolts but thats how its described in the necro rules.

Yeah the spear cant be retreved once thrown. Ill add a note about that in the next version.

Again the rule for the bolt thrower is a copy of the Spear gun from the Scavvie rule set. The 2nd interpritation is the correct one. The idea is that you have to spend a turn doing NOTHING in order to re-load it. If something interupts you then you have to start over. Ill put in a clarification.

Well it basicly is an Invulnerable save. But my understanding is that in Necromunda is there there is no such thing as an invulnerable save. The unmodifyable save wording is just the way of describing it in the terms of the game rules.

    Sounds about right.

Yeah, there were a lot of unclear or ambiguously-worded rules in the official rulebooks that could benefit from some tweaking.

Forgot about that bit. The rulebook definitely needs some updating.

Loving these rules. I'll be putting a gang together in the next couple weeks.
