    Community Ed. or Living Rulebook

Hi there, so myself and some friends are thinking of getting in to Necromunda, and to start learning the rules ready for a campaign next year. However, my question to you is, do people prefer the Community Edition Rules (many thanks to AnthonyCase for a great set of rules) or the 'Living' (kind of!) Rulebook on the GW site?

After having a read through (never played a game as yet), I much prefer the Community Ed. rules, they just seem more streamlined- oh, that, and I want a Drum-fed Autogun!
Have people had serious game-time using the Comm. Ed. rules and, if so, how mch better, if at all, do they work than the GW rules?

    Cheers folks,

My (somewhat historical) rules opinion and experience....

Bearing in mind I'm still currently painting / converting / building scenery for my re-interest in necro, this is from where I played before.

The living rulebook is fine, as long as you also apply common sense with your opponent.
The community ed rules are more playable, and as you say, streamlined.

When I start playing again, I'm going to keep both rulesets nearby, and just see what we agree on on the day!

The Community Edition rules are just so much better to play. Far less rules interpretation, reduced need for situational rules lawyering, fleshed out house weapon lists, skill changes and balancing etc etc.

There's a lot of CE fans over at Yakromunda and Anthony Case posts there for CE changess and suggestions

we've been playing the Community Edition. There have been a lot of changes over the summer, which was a little bit annoying, but the finished (fingers crossed) set of rules are top notch.

Outlander gangs are still a problem though. I'd ignore them, they cause more trouble than they're worth.

Gitburna why do you say there is a problem with the outlanders? I can't find anything Especially wrong with them.

OK, sorry it took so long to reply!

The problem with Outlander gangs - if you are using the Community Edition rules - is that they don't seem to plug in quite right (as the CE hasn't updated them and has no plans to on account of the amount of work it would take) so you are still using the Fanatic Games era rules with the "newer" CE ruleset.

I suppose having played several months of CE now, if we wanted to play with Outlaw gangs we would be able to make a good go of things - having got used to the way the game works, and none of us in our gaming group are of the inclination to "push the rules as far as they will go" I guess if you are comfortable with it then give it a whirl! Our scavvie player played 3 or 4 games and slaughtered all who came before him - it did take me a while to figure out how the house weapon list interacted with the outlaw trading post but once that was established then things seemed fine!
