Star Wars 30mm stormtroopers, Boba fett...

    There finally here

    http://www.knightmodels.com/product.php?id_product=50

    The Boba Fett too...

    http://www.knightmodels.com/product.php?id_product=70

A bit pricey but.. there perfect. I mean, there exact copies of the movie storm troopers and the price per figure is only about a fiver so.. yeah, for that quality, its a reasonable price.

Heres hoping they do clone troopers next

EDIT: Actually, being honest, I'd like some battle droids and Binks next. They rock in the clone wars series

Wow, this was totally off my radar - nice minis though and really not terribly expensive (Boba Fett's a little steep, but not unreasonable).

More bounty hunters would be cool, or someone to fight them, be it the heroes from the movies or just some generic good-guy "troopers".

Who besides the basic Rebel footsoldiers (blue shirts, vests, and eggshell helmets) would be good enemies for stormtroopers?
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

    Those are really quite cool.

I wonder, are there any star ward model kits for vehicles and such that might match these in scale?

    Droids! Lotsa droids! Roger roger

They are pricey but there pretty accurate representations, so it seems alright to me. Just over a tenner for a proper Boba Fett? Sold.

EDIT: Might have to do these for the next tale of skirmish painters...

Yeah I was actually surprised at how cheap the stormtroopers are, I'd expect more. They come to ~$7 USD a pop, which isn't bad for 30mm metal/resin figs.

I really like the poses on them too.

Wonderful thing is these "legit" so don't we need to run and buy them quickly before the IP Police rains shell on the company!

I can see myself getting the a couple of ST sets, but if they come with Clones Troopers and their various armour options... I will certainly go broke.

We make the games we want with the fluff we prefer and the models we own, as much as we please.

So they have a license to produce these?

Re: Star Wars 30mm stormtroopers, Boba fett...

That's what it says on their webpage--albeit in Spanish, but trust me... it says so!

If they didn't, I guess they would not be putting out so many 30mm and 72mmm figures and busts out knowing they could get busted.

How does this affects FFG's license, well... they may have one that allows the to put out starship minis, boardgames (obvious, and quite boring these days with these guys) and role playing books... but maybe they declined pursuing the anthropomorphic minis game. A thing which seriously makes me put my most shocked face, but... it's possible with Lucas' not-so-recent habit of raking in the cash from every single licensing option he gets at every opportunity he stumbles upon.

I mean, how many unsavoury candies and "buildo'rama" miniature crappola games we've seen?

    All of this.

It's possible the license for a "miniatures game" is separate from the license for "display miniatures". It wouldn't be unprecedented - look at how both Mongoos Publishing and Foundry Miniatures make 28mm Judge Dredd miniatures. It might mean that any miniatures from FFG will only be available in sets like the Dust miniatures, so no individual miniatures sales.

I picked up the initial four releases - Han, Jedi Luke, Anakin and Obi-Wan. They're very nice, and I really should get round to painting them up.

I must admit to being pleased they did Stormtroopers, and not Clone troopers as their first "troops" set. I never did like the look of the prequel stuff compared to the original.

These new models are multi-part, too:

The only thing is ... I have an entire platoon of the WotC plastic Stormtroopers. I might need to replace them all, now. Hopefully the officers and special weapons turn up soon. I'd really like a Stormtrooper team with an E-Web, but they seem to be replicating stuff from the movies, so it'll likely be a Snowtrooper team.

Whoa, hadn't realized how extensive their 30mm range is! Seriously tempted to get some minis...

Personally I would have prefered clone troopers - the variations are much broader by simply repainting the armour - a storm trooper on the other hand, is always white.

Go on Whitwort.. then I won't feel so bad when I buy a load

Maelstrom have been selling Knight Models for a few months. I picked up the Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) mini and am quite impressed with the detail especially for the size. Painting it and doing it some justice however......

I'll definitely be picking up some Stormtroopers.

Definatly. definatly love these. Still holding out to see what Fantasy Flight comes up with though, simply because a whole army at those prices would be crippling. I wish Knight Models every success, however. Anything to encourage more proper Star Wars miniatures.

They look good! The temptation to build an army is high.

Could this balloon into models for lotso f things in SW at this scale and perhaps a game?

They have done 70mm for years for marvel, you have probably seen their stuff for sale in comic stores. They picked up the starwars line about a year ago. The 30mm are still display models since knight makes no effort to create rules. I just wish they would make some 30mm marvel. The storm troopers are multi-pose.

What's to stop you from using the three rules sets that are available right now, and that used to be official when they came out?

They are display pieces only if you just put them in the cupboard and never take them out...

To me, this a great quality miniatures for my games.
