@Feefait It was a bit of a letdown but they got their chance in the 1k battle
Thanks for all the nice comments, been basing and painting with the wife (who did the firebelly).
Brets coming up this weekend. I'll see if I can sneak another game in.

awesome report vs the warriors! i love seeing ogres in action, and boy was it good to see those chosen get stomped into paste lol. just a couple of minor notes-
1. on the ironblaster shot into the warriors, cannonballs never hit more than one model per rank, so only 3 warriors from that unit would have been hit rather than 5.
2. the other trickster's shard would cease to work while the slaughtermaster was transformed, this is explicitly stated in the spell's rules. the FAQ that you referenced clarifies that while items and equipment stop working, special rules do not.
neither made a big difference so no harm done but just figured it was good to know. awesome games, can't wait for more!

Haha nice, it's more fun if it isn't so easy :P
Continuing on brother_maynard's post, what might have had a impact on that last fight was how you overran (wrongly). Overrunning into a unit counts as a charge, so you have to maximize your frontage and you're not allowed to reform during the charge - hence you may not switch over your chimeara to the other side of your irongut unit. Since the chimaera does NOT have the same foot print as the ironguts (ironguts are 40mm x 40mm while chimeara I believe is minimum monster base, ie 50mm x 50mm) you're not allowed to "make way" into the irongut unit. He's simply stuck there on the end and so wouldn't get to attack.
Probably wouldn't matter much anyway since you pretty much crushed him, but good to know for future games
Nice report as always.

Once a mage transforms is it no longer considered a character-? Are not characters always allowed to make way if they are not in combat-?

You're right that he's a character tsuke but no, characters are not always allowed to make way, they must have a compatible footprint to do so. Good catch Druglord
Saw the report against the Dark Elves, and I have to say that I was disappointed with what I saw there. Your little trick when you charged the sorceress with the gnoblars so your ironguts could make their charge against the warriors was both bad mannered if the charge distance was too far and you moved them wrong. First off, looking at it your gnoblars. They were stood at an angle not even facing the sorceress after the charge move was made. They just seem to have moved towards some invisible object just to clear the way for your ironguts. How this is really done, is that you pivot towards the desire target and move them there after. You may only wheel once after the initial pivot to clear any obstacle, however, if the charge is too short, you just move straight up towards the intended target, alas the ironguts would have been blocked. Secondly, did you even measure the distance to make sure that the charge was even possible? If not, the result of the game would have been a massacre for the dark elves since you would be disqualified.
Be grateful that your opponent didn't smack you in the head with the rule book, I hear they can deal some massive blunt damage![]()

WHFB Armies: Skaven - Dark Elves - Orcs n' Goblins
@brother_maynard For part 1, the ironblaster was in the flank of both units, and so each unit's files counted as ranks per pg 113 BRB.
Part 2, we ended up 4+ing the rule interpretation since we didn't have access to the faq. However, reading the language again, I agree that all his magic items would cease to function.
@TheDrugLordX BRB pg 100 and I completely agree with you. I think in this case, either the mountain chimera pops tight to the north of the unit or the south of the unit, either case he is not in base contact with the nurgle chaos warriors. However, if he pops to the north, then the overrun into the chosen (supposing the nurgle warriors break from combat) would have functioned effectively the same. I think there is a good chance the nurgle warriors break from combat; After all his attacks and before the bruiser, ironguts, and stomps (and no chimera), he was down by 2 after impacts, flank, rank, and charge.
@jloop My opponent and I were very slowly and closely watching that maneuver and I am certain that we played it by the book. The gnoblars moved exactly as if they were going to complete the charge and they were certainly within their 16in charge range. I agree that they look a little "askew" in the pic as the outer-leftmost gnoblar should have been on a collision course for the center of the sorceress's base. I'd guess that this was due to the movement tray being rotated accidentally underneath the ironguts tray as they ran by (but really who knows). I am disappointed that you would rush to accuse me of cheating and offended by "Secondly, did you even measure the distance to make sure that the charge was even possible?". I am happy to discuss rules errors and poor strategy, but I expect you to give me and the other players the benefit of the doubt that every move was made in good faith and agreed upon by both players.
indeed, for some reason it escaped me that the shot was coming from the flank. as someone who does their own video battle reports, i find it extremely annoying when someone corrects me and are themselves wrong, so i apologize for doing this to you. anyway like i said, great game, subscribed and waiting for more!

I'm a bit relieved that the tournament is done and I can set that list aside... for good.
The last 3 lists have been interesting. Twice with lore of Heavens and once with two units of maneaters![]()
Hey M8. Just a comment on the game vs the Bretts. When the gnoblers broke on the hill they would not have caused the IB to panic. Gnoblers don't cause any panic by being destroyed, breaking or fleeing through friendly units. But other than that really enjoyed the report and watching it go back and forth. Live by the sickle-die by the sickle.....![]()

Curse me for forgetting Beneath Contempt! Boy would those 170 points helped, not even to mention the rounds of shooting. Plus, since the other sabretusk only fled because of the gnoblars fleeing through, he could have stuck around and run interference on the left flank. Gah!
+1 for you Mid`ean.
