New WE Treeman

I heard today that GW have supposedly already made a plastic treeman for the new Wood elves, but that VC, Empire, DE and Dwarfs will supposedly get new books before the WE's.

The treeman, however was said to be on the new monster base and about as tall as the Ogre Thundertusk's banner, and that it stylewise is more living brushwood-forest thingy than an actual anthromorphic tree. Anyway take with a grain of salt as always.

That sounds like a release similar to the Zombiedragon/Terrorgheist is possible.

Do any birdies know if this model is getting released appreciably before the new book, and if the rules will get a White Dwarf update?

A subtle tweek here and there could make the wait a whole lot easier

Well, if it ends up being like the zombie dragon/terrorgheist, which came out in August. And i believe i read that vampires are looking like they'll be out in february. So that would mean if it comes out before the book, it could be a sign that the book comes out 6 months later. I'd guess then that it could be released january at the earliest, or a month before whatever book comes after vampires, just like the Zombie Dragon came out a month before Ogres.

I also heard about a big plastic tree. When I heard about this the way it was described it sounded so big I assumed it was a scenery piece. I was quite surprised when Hastings told me it was a treeman. But then 'the oak of ages' was mentioned so that may have thrown me slightly.

Me too. But considering how the current one is hated by most, while being already more tree than man compared to the previous ones, I suspect a lot of "it sucksorz I hates GW so unfair".
I like the current one, and by the sound of it I suspect I'll like the new one too

I am of the "I like the Treeman" camp. But I welcome a new Treeman all the same, seeing as I already have this one anyways! Good thing it's still a ways off, means I don't have to dust off my Woodies just yet.

I don't think we'll be seeing a new WE book next year. GW's has a schedule for it already and they aren't one of the armies on it. Also due to the timing of the WFB releases next year I doubt we'll see one in Jan/Feb 2013.

New Treeman would be cool too, you can never have too many massive monsters. Interesting that they bothered Finecasting the current Treeman.

The size difference makes me wonder what I'd do with the Treemen I already have should it be the latter.

But anyway, I've heard maybe Brets/WE next year. I'm just a second-hand source for that however. So unless anyone feels like spilling some baked beans any rampant speculation is pretty much like sticking a finger in the air and trying to judge which way the wind is blowing.

That is a mystery indeed. Also goes for the treekin.

I assume the new treeman will be some sort of "Elder Treeman" or "Treebeast" or "Giant Hippie Spirit" etc. or that the current treeman will be relegated to something in-between that and the treekin in the new book.

I hope he's not sculpted by Trish and that it therefore fits the style of the Dryads better.

I'm having a hard time envisioning "brushwood forest"-style. I keep getting the picture of a giant fenbeast in my head, sort of.

WE and Bretonnians are NOT amongst them.
I have been trying to hint as much for many months now. (... actually well over a year since the wind changed).
I am not sticking my finger in the air and GW are not sticking to the previous release order any more.
You can not look at what happened last edition and predict what they will do next.
