    Monster Mash Tournament

Wulf Jaeger, journeyman wizard of the amber order was appointed to take care of the sign ups for the battles for the title of Amber-heir of Kadon, his post was mainly due to the fact that many wizards suddenly learnt that they were needed in far off battlefields when the issue of paperwork was brought up and Wulf found himself with the poorest excuse. The wizard who planned the event was equally uninterested in paperwork it seemed, for how else could the event have been placed at Geheimnistag.

Sitting at his desk Wulf saw a robed man approach, as the man walked closer he saw that it was no living man but a mummified corpse, this contest was a tradition from the Amber order, not an open contest, never the less he saw that the wizard was powerful and felt it better to let his superiors deal with it.
"Name?" Wulf said with a trembling voice
    "IAMTHEMAN"
    "Wizard rank"
    "LICH PRIEST OF NEHEKARA"
"Very well, take your place in the cave and await the other contestants"
The Lich priest Iamtheman of Nehekara accepted and sat down.

The next contestant was even more disturbing, a chaos sorcerer named Bakigrum who claimed to be a siege specialist, Wulf thought he could play the new wizards against each other though and accepted him too. After which he started to pray to Taal.

The next wizard had taken the form of a gigantic rat and did not wish to show his true form but even Grey sear rattius winkle bottom was accepted, as was the mechanical Optimus Primal, the reptilian Tinii Hinii.

After this, two relatively normal entrants entered the contest, an elf who claimed to be a beast mistress, to have such an entrant was an honor and Wulf Jaeger felt truly embarrassed by the clientele. A halfling, a race known for their magical inadequacy, also entered, his name was Nigel and he was actually a member of the Empire (normally a demand to enter the contest).

An ogre beastbreeder and empire captain also entered, those weren't even wizards but Wulf just didn't care any more.

The final contestant was another reptilian thing.

    Wizards:
The Incredible Nigel (Three Wins) -Semi Finalist, can no longer be challenged
Lich Iamtheman (Three Wins) -Semi Finalist, can no longer be challenged
Bakigrum (One win) -Disqualified for Stalling
Grey seer Rattius (Two Wins) -Challenger
Optimus Primal (Three Wins) -Semi Finalist, can not be challenged
Tinii Hinii (Three Wins and one like) -Semi Finalist, can not be challenged
Alanion Loresmistress of the Beasts (Three Wins) -Semi Finalist, can not be challenged
Billy the rinox breeder (Two Wins)
Ludgwig the Mad (Two Wins) -Disqualified for Stalling
Hinii Tinii (Three wins) -Semi Finalist, can no longer be challenged

I will randomize a player who gets to be the challenger, after this people can either be "Eager" or "Curiously Absent". A player is Curiously absent until he says otherwise. The challenger makes no such choice. The challenger may at any time chose another wizard to challenge, if the challenged wizard is eager I randomize which size category they fight in but if the player is Curiously Absent said player may chose which category to fight in.
After this I roll for the fight and give some fluff, then the loser becomes the challenger and we continue the same procedure, once a player have acquired 3 victories they will continue to the semi finals. Once six players have won 3 victories each the rest have lost and the Semi finals (with new rules) start.

    Coming Soon: The Semi Finals

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"Optimus Primal was eager to fight, his opponent looked puny though, just a particularly small ball of flesh, Optimus Primal still prepared for the fight by taking the form of a gigantic cannon.
With some kind of sorcery the small ball of flesh grew, it grew twentyfold in size.
Optimus Primal fired a shot against it and closed in for an assault, the shot missed and in combat the creature seemed to rely on it's bad breath to keep his foes at bay, it was effective though and Optimus Primal could not bear the stench.
Then Nigel took a bite out of the gun, a big bite, Optimus Primal struck out in self defense and gave Nigel a small scar over his belly. This made Nigel mad, he screamed some curses at the mechanical monster and uprooted a tree which he used to smash Optimus Primal to bits, and then to smash does bits to scraps, and then to nail those scraps to the tree."

    Turn by turn game guide:
    Rolls for category: Middleweight
Use ranged turn: Hellcannon misses but it scatters 2 to far.
Turn 1: As both have the same move I dice of and the Hellcannon gets the charge, it matters little though for the Giant decides to Yell and Bawl.
Turn 2: Another Yell and Bawl from the giant and nothing happends.
Turn 3: The giants chomps and deals 3 wounds, the Hellcannon strikes back for 1 wound.
Turn 4: Another round of Yell and Bawl
Turn 5: The Giant gets "Thump with Club", the hellcannon fails it's initiative test and is dealt 9 wounds (7 more than needed). Nigel wins.

    New Challenger: Optimus Primal

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"Optimus Primal wanted revenge and challenged the so called siege specialist who transformed himself into a massive armoured giant. In response Optimus Primal took the form of a tank. The giant roared but so did the tanks cannon and it ripped a whole in the giants armour, enraged the giant charged and stunned Optimus with a headbutt, and another headbutt, and another headbutt, and another headbutt, feeling confident the giant then tried to break the legs of his opponent, there was however one thing he didn't count on, tanks don't have legs. The tank ran over the giant and crushed it. Optimus Primal was satisfied as he had gained revenge (on someone else) for his previous loss."

Shooting turn, a perfect cannonshot deals 3 wounds on the Siege Giant
First combat phase, giant headbutts and steam tanks can't use his special attack.
Second combat phase, giant headbutts and steam tanks can't use his special attack.
Third combat phase, giant headbutts and steam tanks can't use his special attack.
Fourth combat phase, giant headbutts and steam tanks can't use his special attack.
Fifth combat phase, giant attempts legbreaker but fails his strength test while the steamtank succeeds. The steamtank spends two steampoints to grind and causes three wounds.

    New challenger: Bakigrum

"Hinii-Tinii was eager to fight and prove his worth, he met the siege giant that had been defeated by a tank last battle. Taking the form of a Coatl he spewed ineffective magical flames at the giant before charging it. The giant attempted a legbreaker still not understanding that he must do so against an opponent with legs for it to have an effect. The Coatl striked back and grievously wounded the giant. The giant spitted blood and headbutted the coatl bringing it down on the ground, he sealed the deal by putting a massive pick in the feathered serpents heart.

    Turn by turn game guide:
    Shoot, fire fails to wound.
Turn 1: Dragon charges, the giant makes a legbreaker and rolls a one while the dragon rolls a 6, the giant deals no wounds. Dragon strikes back and deals 4W. Giant holds.
Turn 2: Giant 'eadbutts, dragon holds.
Turn 3: Giant smashes with pick, dragon fails Initiative test, giant deals 6 wounds, the exact amount needed to kill the dragon.

    New challenger: Hinii-Tinii

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"The big feathered jungle creature had decided to take his frustration out on Optimus Primal, neither fire nor cannon could bring the foe down and so they met in combat. The tank grinded and the serpent teared but one could soon see that the serpent had the upper hand, then the damaged tanks engine exploded and the vehicle became a sitting duck, ripped asunder by the mighty Hinii-Tinii.

    Turn by turn:
Shoot: the cannonball lands just short of the dragon (flies 2, bounces 2) and the fire fails to wound.
Turn 1: Steamtank builds 5 steampoints, dragon charges and deals 4 wounds but one is saved by the tanks armour. The tank grinds back, 12 hits, 4 wounds, one save.
Turn 2: The tank builds up four steam. The dragon manages to deal 5 wounds. The tank only deals 2 back.
Turn 3: The tank tries to build up one steam but fails and takes a wound, the dragon deals 2 wounds, the tank is dead.

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"Revenge!" Optimus Primal thought as his gun form once again fired against Nigels massive body, but unlike last time he wasn't even close. Optimus Primal was furious at his own inaccuracy and charged the gigantic halfling who simply took the big log he was holding and with a single strike bashed Optimus Primal to smithereens.

    Turn by turn game guide:
Shooting turn: The hellcannon scatters 10.
Turn 1: The hellcannon charges, the giant gets bash with club, the hellcannon fails it's initiative test and the giant deals 6 wounds, the hellcannon only has 5.

    Challenger: Still Optimus Primal

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

Roaring with primal fury Optimus Primal fired a shot against the large stonestatue that lumbered his way, the shot glanced it but proved useless but then again so did the fiery roar of the stone kitten. In close combat the cat started wrecking him, it looked grim for Optimus but a transforming robot from outer space is not one who gives up, he launched himself against the cat and it was a battle of the titans, who will win?.....The Sphinx.

    Turn by turn battle guide:
Shoot: The hellcannon scatters and while it is a hit the hole is not over the sphinx and it does not wound, the fiery roar also fails to wound.
Turn 1: The sphinx gets the charge, it hits with three attacks, deals two wounds and one is saved. The cannon gets 2 hits but neither wounds.
Turn 2: The sphinx makes three hits but one is poisoned, neither normal hit wounds but the poisoned hit is not saved. The cannon only gets one hit in and it fails to wound.
Turn 3:The sphinx misses with all it's attacks. The cannon strikes back with two hits and one wound, the sphinx does not suffer from being unstable as it's a proper Nehekaran construct.
Turn 4: The sphinx gets one hit but fails to wound, the cannon does however repeat last round with two hits and one wound.
Turn 5: The sphinx misses all it's attacks, the cannon on the other hand hits with four attacks but fails to deal a single wound.
Turn 6: The sphinx makes four hits, one with poison, the sphinx deals one additional wound and neither is saved. The cannon makes two hits but neither wounds.
Turn 7: The Sphinx makes three hits and one of them is poisoned, neither hit wounds and the cannon saves the poisoned attack. The cannon makes two hits but neither wounds.
Turn 8: The sphinx makes three hits and two of them are poisoned, the last hit also wounds and no saves are made, as they have the same I the cannon gets to strike back before he dies, he makes two hits and deals one wound. The Sphinx wins.

The challenger is still Optimus Primal

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

To fight his reptilian foe Optimus Primal took the form of a tank while his opponent took the form of a feather-wearing snake. Optimus Primal fired a shot, but unfortunately someone had crammed down a pentagramcovered voodoodoll carrying an upside down horseshoe between one of Optimus Primals cogs and he misfired causing a huge pain in what would be his knee in his normal form. Then the snake charged, it lay an epic smackdown on Optimus and although he did cause some damage back the sparrowwyrm defeated him.

    Turn by turn guide:
Shoot: Tank fires cannon, misfire, 3 wounds. Dragonfire deals no damage.
Turn 1: Dragon charges. Dragon deals 5 wounds. The tank builds up 3 steam and grinds for 5 hits and 3 wounds.
Turn 2: Steamtank tries to build one steam and fails, taking one wound. Dragon deals 4 wounds, the tank envies doornails for their vitality.

Still the same challenger: Optimus Primal

Optimus Primal felt confident, he had lost the last titanic clashes to his luck was bound to have changed. With a wounding shot from the cannon and a proper grinding of the beast he learnt that it had.

    Turn by turn game guide:
Shoot: Steamtank fires it's cannon, hits and wounds but only deals one wound.
Turn 1: The Thundertusk gets the charge, 4 Impact hits, 2 wounds, one is saved. The Steamtank in turn grinds with 5SP, it deals 6 wounds and the stonehorn is dead.

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"Nigel was bigger than ever before and he dwarfed the stonehorn as if the ogre beast was little more than a petrified dog, Nigel charged and headbutted the stony hide dazing the beast. He followed this by an intimidation attempt which fell to deaf ears (probably due to the fact that the stonehorns ears where still ringing from the previous assault). Nigel then lifts the stonehorn and hugs it to death, crushing it to gravel.

    Turn by turn guide:
Turn 1: Bonegrinder Giant charges, Stonehorn strikes, 2 hits but no wounds. Giant 'eadbutts.
Turn 2: Stonehorn is dazed and don't get to strike. Giant yells and bawls, the stonehorn needs to roll a 3 to stand and the dice come up 2 and 1, he stands.
Turn 3: Stonehorn once again gets two hits but no wounds. The Bonegrinder grapples the stonehorn and bearhugs it, killing it instantly.

Nigel has now acquired three wins and is the first semi-finalist. The tricky halfling sees a lucrative opportunity to work as a bookie while waiting and will allow bets and make a system for betting.

    Challenger: Team Rinox

Wrong place, the status thread is where you place your challenges and enter your status. Regardless here are the results:

The loremistress took the frightening form of a stardragon and saw her opponent, a stonehorn with stony hide. She exhaled gouts of flame scorching the hide of her foe and then charged the stonehorn and ripped a chunk of it's stone hard flesh out, the beast slowly turned and strike back with a ferocity rarely seen. This made the cowardly elfgirl flee.

    Turn by turn guide:
Shoot: Stardragon wounds Stonehorn and it is not saved.
Turn 1: Stardragon charges, it makes four hits and two wounds. The Stonehorn is extraordinarily lucky though and scores 4 hits, all whom wound and no-one is saved. The dragon loses the fight by 1 and follows this up by rolling a pair of sixes for it's breaktest.

The skink transformed himself into a mighty carnosaur as he saw his opponents scaly hide. The dragon countered by engulfing him in flames which almost caused the carnosaur to panic and flee until he remembered that it was a suffered casualty not a suffered wound that was needed to take a panic test. In close combat the carnosaur turned the tables and sent the cowardly elf running for her mother.

    Turn by turn guide:
    Rolls: Middleweight, Sundragon vs Carnosaur
Shoot: Dragon fire deals one wound, Carnosaur takes a panic test and flees, I remember that it's casualties and not wounds that is needed to force panic tests so I go back and go to closecombat turn 1.
Turn 1: Dragon charges, the sundragon makes 2 hits and one wound, the carnosaur answers with four hits and three wounds, the dragon takes a breaktest and rolls 8. Carnosaur wins.

Tinii Hinii prepared for battle and his five skink friends jumped on to his back, then the little skink transformed into a mighty Stegadon complete with Howdah and blowpipes and saw his opposition in the form of a big bad dragon. After an ineffective firefight the Dragon launched itself on the slow to react stegadon, the skinks were quick to throw javelins and other harmless objects on the dragon while it ripped out parts of Tinii Hinii and ate the skink alive. To have any sport the highelf took her own form to fight the crew and showed them the pimphand of Uluthuan.

    Turn by turn guide:
Shoot: Blowpipes send 11 shots, 2 hits and neither is poisoned, no wounds. The dragonfire is equally useless.
Turn 1: Dragon charges. Skinks attack first, two hits, no wounds. Dragon strikes, four hits, four wounds. Stegadon retaliate, 1 hit, 1 wound. Stegadon aces Ld test.
Turn 2: Skinks attack, one hit, no wounds. Dragon attacks, 4 hits, 2 wounds, Ancient Stegadon is no more.

Tinii Hinii was prepared, the rhinoxbreeding maneater threw himself into the ring and made some shows with his guns. Tapping into the winds of magic the skinkpriest took the form of a frightening Fenbeast and slowly shambled towards the ogre. The maneater fired two shots into Tinii Hinii but his new regenerating body quickly shrugged them off. Then the maneater charged, and cut off one of the Fenbeasts arm, which immediately grew back and returned the favor. Enraged the maneater used his superior reflexes to quickly cut off the head of the fenbeast, that too grew back and the fenbeast grabbed the maneater and threw him out of the ring to cruelly impale him one of the razor sharp stalagmites in the cave, shambling after the slowthinking beast then ripped off each limb and then the head, just to be sure it didn't regenerate it all.

    Turn by turn guide:
Pre-game: Rolls and gets featherweight, Maneater vs Fenbeast
Shoot: Maneater shoots, one miss and one hit, no wound.
Turn 1: Maneater charges, bull charge makes no wound, 3 hits 2 of them are poisoned, the third also wounds but all three are regenerated. The Fenbeast strikes back, 2 hits, 2 wounds. The ogre loses the fight with one but holds.
Turn 2: Maneater strikes, 5 hits, no poison, 3 wounds, all regenerated. The fenbeast strikes, 3 hits, 3 wounds, no maneater left.

Billy and his rhinoxen were furious, how could that fenbeast just have killed him. No matter, he had a secret weapon, a thundertusk. To his amazement the tiny lizard had a secret weapon of his own and transformed into a huge lizard with howdah and everything. The lizard then proceeded to kick and scare the living **** out of his thundertusk in a display that shows why thundertusks are a thing of ages past and Stegadons are the no1 Omnivores of Lustria.

    Turn by turn gameguide:
Shoot: Bow misses, javelins makes two hits one of them are poisoned, the other javelin fails to wound but the Thundertusk could not save the poisoned javelin. The Thundertusk returns fire but rolls a misfire.
Turn 1: Stegadon wins dice of to charge and makes three impact hits and two of those wound. The Thundertusk strikes back and rolls nothing but ones and twos. The skinks then makes two hits and one wound, the thundertusks thick fur fails and no save is done. The Steggie then makes two hits and one wound. With a total loss of 5 the thundertusk needs snakeeyes to stay and he doesn't get them, which might be as well as he's on his last wound.

Billy may have lost most of the battles he had fought but a tiny little rat could not do much. He was just twirling his whiskers and laughing like a ma...Oh my god what is that! By the maw did that rat just transform himself into a massive...thing. He sent his Thundertusk but it got bodyslammed to death and then the abomination that once was a rat ripped the head of Billy.

    Turn by turn game guide:
Shoot: The sphere glances the abomination but makes no wound with it's lowly S3.
Turn 1: The thundertusk charges, it makes two hits, one of them wound but it is regenerated. The Abomination makes an avalanche of flesh, the Thundertusk succeeds his initiative test but still suffers 4W by the additional effect of 2d6 hits against a base to base unit. Then the hellpit stomps it to death. The Thundertusk is allowed a stomp to redeem itself but only makes two wounds, one of which is regenerated.

    Challenger: Billy the Rhinox breeder

    Re: Monster Mash Tournament

"Ludwig was furious, his cannon had failed to wound the hideous beast and now it charged head on. Ludwig answered this by driving straight into the beast with his tank and an earthshattering collision echoed far around. When the smoke set the stonehorn lay dead, another roadkill for LUDWIGS FRICKIN TANK Mk2, Ludwig later went on to make a wonderful barbecue of the beast which it is said made even Billy forgive the slaughter of his favorite beast.

    Turn by turn guide:
Shoot turn: Cannon hits but fails to wound.
Turn 1: Stonehorn charges, it makes 9 impacthits, 7 of them wounds (divine rolls) but the tank answers the divine rolls by saving six of those wounds.
The Steamtank manages to generate 5 steampoints and continues the extreme rolling by grinding in 15 hits, 8 of them wounds and as the Stonehorn can't save against that strength it is dead.

    Seventeenth fight
    Challenger: Billy the Rhinox Breeder

"Ludwig!" Wulf Jaeger shouted, "Ludwig!", no answer. Wulf ran down the cave asking his challenger, Billy the Rhinox Breeder, where Ludwig had gone. He was told the engineer had gone down to Altdorf for victory beer since his last win and hadn't return.
Not wishing to stay in the unsettling company (What company isn't for an amber wizard?) he just went ahead and disqualified Ludwig with the words "he wasn't even a wizard".
Pointing at the closest challenger he shouted "Primal! Your challenge."

    Eighteenth challenger: Optimus Primal
