Thread: Necrons awaken!

    Re: Necrons awaken!

Beautiful walker! I honestly can't get enough of your blue... it works so damn well with the rusty metal. Imotekh is looking good as well, I particular like the cloak... I'm sure highlighting each little bit must have took ages but it makes the model feel very distinctive. Glad to see you're still churning out models!

    Monolith!

As you can see the model is full of small imperfections but honestly this model gave me such a hard time that I have completely given up on the idea of spending any more time on it.

The reason is quite simple. The guy who sold me this model did a very poor job in assembling it and used enormous amounts of super glue to put it together. This meant that I had to file the extra glue from the sides of the monolith and also use as much green stuff as I could in order to close the big gaps on the model...

Despite my hardest efforts the model still required a lot of filling and sanding but I got so tired that I simply started painting it. I wouldnt say it looks bad but its not up to my usual levels of painting so I guess one day I will get back to it and repair the small imperfections.

Any way, I hope you like it!

Next up is a group of 3 wraiths!

Imhotep complete ; I should really use a green glaze on the staff to bring the highlights together!

The Wraith Cryptek conversion is inspired, if i ever start a Necron army i'll be shamefully stealing the idea.

Thank you! Hopefully some time soon I will get some time to put everything on a table and take some pictures!

cheers! The orbs are very easy. I started with Dark Angels Green , then a layer of Snot Green (covering 80% of the orb), then scorpion Green (60%) and a final highlight of scorpion green mixed with bleached bone in the centre of the orb. To smooth out the many layers I simply covered the whole orb with the new green glaze.

    Re: Necrons awaken!

    2 questions:
    1) Do you plan on painting a ghost ark or doomsday ark? I think that it would look fantastic if it turns out similar to the stalker or wraiths.
    2) How do you paint your blue/turquise? It looks really nice.

Your army looks fantastic, keep up the good work.

    Re: Necrons awaken!

thank you for your kind words!

1- I actually have a ghost ark almost complete. I need to paint the gauss flayers and the model will be done. However my motivation level is really low at the momment...

2- My turquoise is very simple actually:
    - paint hawk turquoise
    - drybrush with a mix of hawk turquoise + bleached bone
    - drybrush with bleached bone
    - wash with watered down graveyard earth
    - wash with watered down scorched earth only in the crevesses.

Thats it! its actually much faster than it sounds!

A good looking army you have so far! Truth be told, your take on the Nihilak-scheme looks way better than the one featured in WD
