So how did you got into designing tanks from plasticard?
How did you start? and What do you propose to someone who wants to learn that too
I left 40k for a long time, and saw some papercraft tanks one day, tried to build one, failed, and thought well, this isnt very strong. So looked into getting some plasticard to try something, ended up making an ork tank based on an epic vehicle. It..wasnt great. So I kept making orky vehicles, which are a great place to start, as they aren't perfect, and can hide a lot.
Practice making boxes, etc. As really, thats all a tank is. Also, Rivets. Rivets will make a scratchbuilt tank look 40K.
Design wise, the my version Ragnarok has went through 4 variants. I love the fluff of the tank, and loved parts of the epic model, but didn't like the open tracks. So I made one based on a Chimera. Shortly after this GW released the Vostoyans, and there was an article about making your own Ragnarok on the GW site. This spawn the 2nd version, it was similar to it, but with my own twist. I made about 10 of these I believe. In the end I didn't like how HUGE they were, so went about making smaller ones. Which is the start of this thread/topic/log. The hull and turrets have been changed slightly, so we are on design #4 now.
