Re: 301st Mechanised Corps - Scratch Built Armoured Company

I get mine from a local shop and get a discount at times :P Tho recently I've gotten a few packs from Station-Road-Baseboards on ebay, which works out at a good price, and great serivce.

I'm in Northern Ireland so it'd be fine for the rest of the UK as well.

Thanks Tinners for the info. Can you tell me what thickness of plasticard do you use for the superstructure of the vehicles? Many thanks in advance

Generally 1mm for superstructures, then everything below that for detailing. 2mm at times for doing track units, etc.

hey tinny, how the hell do you get your builds so neat and uniform? your scratch builds are amidst the best i've seen, and with such mass uniformity to defies belief.

do you use some form of template? there are several models of yours i'd love to be able to use for my blood pact, especially your old basalisks from the last scratch build log.

Nah I dont use templates. What I'll do is cut out the first hull side for example, then trace that onto plasticard, and cut away. Dont draw it out first or any complex things like that.

I take it you mean the russ based ones? They are simple enough to make. And at some point I may try and do templates. Tho I havent a clue how!

    Cheers tho.

best way i think is just to measure up the various sizes of the card, produce an a4 page with those shapes on in 1:1 scale. or you could draw them out onto pieces of paper, scan them in, print them out and see if it turns out right

oh, have a 5 star rating.

Yep, definitely needs more Ragnaroks (joke).

You have awesome skills, vision and attention-to-detail.
Not jealous, but you are truly gifted in hobby ability.
When I grow up (lol), I'd be honoured to have model making skills which are even a 1/5 as good as yourself.
To me, my current building and converting efforts just end up looking like the aftermath of glue explosions in various bitz boxes :-(

Just to ask: What is the grey substance you use for the general shape of the turrets?
I can't work out what it is, but is it something similar to the pink/blue insulation foam?

And yeh I need more :P This will be a full force org chart, which is what I was going for.

The turrets are plasticard covered in Mr Surfacer(http://www.swannysmodels.com/Surfacer.html) to give a cast iron texture to them.

So random question, I'm planning on casting a few of these for personal use, but would anyone be interested in purchasing them? For say £40/$60 as they'd be limited run?

Anyway, I'm making up a sprue of Krieg Style engine filters and accessories to cast up for my own tanks to add detail to them, will get a pic up tonight!

Stowage piles. This isn't all the tanks, but I didnt have enough GS to finish the rest. I decided to do it before adding rivets etc, to save me a lot of work, ie hiding details with stowage to save me adding them.
