Ladies and Gents, I bid you welcome to my workshop of horrors!
I have recently started out as a freelance painter for the (for now at least) only professional commission painter in Denmark, 9K painting.

This have given me the possibility to earn a bit of money on my hobby which is great.


Enough rambling.

I give you.... The dreaded Blight Drone!






The model is still WIP, and the paint scheme is based on the one on the FW website, with a bit more contrast between the flesh and armored parts.


I'm also working on another big model, but I wont tell you what it is yet. All I'll say is that it's from Forge World and give you these teaser clues:

Very much liking your blight drone - yellows over green work really well.
I never knew that the drone had all that ripped-up skin on the underside - wow, you've done a darn fine job on this.

Good luck with your forthcoming Brass Scorpion, by the way (does I get cookies? - lol).
If it's even half as good as the drone, it will be amazing!

OT- Great idea tho, your painting style is pretty damn good. It's nice to make some extra dosh doing something you love isn't it. I could never be a commision painter, im way to lazy...just ask my Warhound on my desk who's been sitting there for 6 or 7 months without a head and missing one weapon arm....


Then again I have been painting up models for Force on Force. =o]

A bit of progress, the daemon engine walks !

It's a huge kit and I have pinned everything and built it in sub assemblies for ease of painting. So here's the pics, still need to pin the claws.

But for now, here's the progress on the dreadknight:


The model is nearly finished, just some basic details like lenses and eyes needed. The customer wanted it to look like the GW one but with space for some artistic freedom, and I think I got it okay. Unfortunately thw model was fully assembled and based when I got it, which made it a bit harder to paint and meant I had to break off the shin guard and the shield for ease of painting, but I got it to work

Thanks dude, and the best part is that it took very little effort to get this result The brass scorpion is soon up for paint, just need to pin the huge claws and give it a modest green stuff repair of some miscast areas (which there were not many of btw) and a few hoses that was broken

That blight drone is amazing! is it dheneb stone and a purple wash for the "skin" or what, totally love it and id love to see a full nurgle army done to that standard, the dreadknights looking really crisp and clean aswell and i cant wait to see the scorpion when you've done it!

Thanks a lot No the skin is actually Tallarn flesh and white in about a 1:2 ratio and then washed with a mix of purple ink and airbrush thinner and a second wash with Baal red wash. Then it's highlighted by adding even more white to the skin tone mix.

I'd love to do a nurgle army to this standard once, but I have a lot of other stuff to do first unfortunately

Brass scorpion update:

I decided to go with a skull pattern since I couldn't get the mottled pattern from the fw display model to work, and honestly I think it's a bit ugly and boring. So I decided to play around with some custom stencilling and did a skull pattern instead

What do you guys think ??

Loving the skull motifs, subtle enough for the unexperienced viewer, but showing for those with the eye for detail!

Were they done just with a piece of paper? Please share your secrets

Uhh knowledge is power you know But yeah it's a paper stencil covered in ordinary clear tape before cutting it so it could endure the strain from the paint. On a more defined motif I'd have opted for doing a stencil in maskingtape so the edges would stay sharp and defined, but for this job I had to use the same motif over and over again and it had to act as a pattern and not a defined insignia so the plastic coated paper stencil worked really well.
