Video Report - 2000pt Sisters of Battle Vs Tau Empire

    *edit* Link fixed!
Alright, I got a new camera (little Flip camera, before I couldn't get one anymore), and put together a report on Seize ground, 2000pts with Spearhead Deployment.

WH40k Battle Report: Sisters of Battle Vs. Tau Empire

Was a good game, albeit a bit long one... I sorta blame all the terrain, but it made it a heck of an interesting game, imo. Was nice to get a chance to play a game at home... even though I love my FLGS.

    Thanks for watching!

I'd love to give it a glance, but the link isn't working for me.

Remove the http bit at the start and the link will work for you.

The actual url is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_NwNwXe_EE as such. I haven't watched yet. Should be a good watch though

Is the word of "some guy" with a fancy hair do and a big hat enough to make you go kill somebody?

Just watched it. Was a really good match and could really see how it unfolded. Some good moments and in the end it looked pretty solid for the sisters. You could see by Tau turn 4 I think how the match was going to go assuming that you didn't role 1's throughout the rest of the match.

I think the main saving grace for the sisters against the Tau was the amount of terrain. Without that then I think the sisters may have been picked of on the way to each objecetive.

Hey there, I fixed the link! Sorry about that!

Yeah, Dustin told me that while we both wanted a lot of terrain (we left the bit of narrative out of this BR, due to length of it), because we had a slight background to the game... but he even mentioned that the specific piece of terrain that hindered him the most was the black building that my Retributioners were in... Mainly because I had such a broad view on the upper floor, but the only stuff he had that could see them and had range, were the broadsides and that would have been wasted high-powered shots.

It was suggested to me, by someone else on dakkadakka, that I should have scouted, but I'm not sure, as I think it would have left them wide open to be shot up (and they would have been prime targets considering their firepower).

I agree with you about the scouting. Unless you have enough cover to stop LoS with Tau I have found you die very quickly no matter who you are due to the way 90% of people play the Tau. CoD is one of the hardest for Tau to play because allot of other armies can advance without worrying about being shot.

The only difference I probably would have done is bring all the vehicles on the right of the board together and rush the tau from that side. This would have meant you could have had all 3 objectives that side and then used the cover to advance the units to the far left side.

This was apparent at end of turn 4 where you lost a few units to his hammerhead.

The only other issue I think you had was because of where you placed your exorcists. I think you could have placed one behind the building to the left. It would have meant that you could move one either direction and he would have to pick one way for his hammerhead to move with some support units.

It is all well and good me saying this on the sideline after the event but just something I was thinking as I watched the video and maybe would have given the edge over the Tau sooner.

I have lost to the Tau enough to know how to play them. Unfortunatly I mostly end up playing on very terrain limited boards.

Good battle report. That turn one left me wondering how you were going to recover. But I see that a lot where turn 1 or 2 seems terrible but you pull a win out. I would have laughed if your tankshock killed shadowsun

Haha, yeah, we determined that the only way that tank would not have stopped in it's tracks, was to not get a glancing or penetrating hit... and since he only needed to roll a 5 on two dice, it was fairly assured, lol.

But yeah, his Shadowsun and my sisters tend to go round and round... this is the first time shadowsun has actually escaped me though. lol

He and I will schedule a rematch with less terrain, and his foreknowledge of my dominion's trickery... it will prob be a different game completely!
