Painting a necron army in 24 hours... Iron Painter challenge

Well here is the background -

Im taking part in a 24 hour iron painter competition next month.

    Details here: http://www.arkhamgamingcentre.com/in...688&Itemid=489

I plan to paint a 1750 point necron army in one sitting...... I will be painting a number of units before and after the event in order to eventually reach 3000 points.

I want a paint scheme that is quick to do and looks at least good TT standard and isnt silver with a wash!

So I had these two guys lying around took tops 20 minutes to paint (excluding drying times)

painted with a combination of paints, washes and pigments. Im going to do light sourcing on the gun the eyes and the chest crest on the finish models -

the tubing will be a solid colour rather than as it appears in the test models

these are test models and the actual finished guys will be a little more refined - the verdi gris is hardly showing through on them and will be corrected on the next batch of test models ill do this weekend

bases will be a shade of grey with citadel dead grass and armypainter highland tufts.

this guy i gave a more metallic sheen to the finish

    thoughts and opinions welcome

I like the scheme. The cool blue and the rusty orange are complimentary without being loud and eye-straining.
As for the challenge, good luck and stock up on caffeine. Crons are about the only army that I can imagine painting in that amount of time.

just make sure you glue everything before you start painting! and be careful of mold lines. I can already spot one on the leg of your crons..

I like the paint scheme however if you are going for 24 hour contest why dont you spray paint everything metal then dip using the army painter products, wait to dry and then drybrush with silver! finally give them a coat of mat varnish and you are done!

    just an idea basically

yeah i know the mold lines - like i said i had a couple lying around so I was just testing the scheme , the army will be mold free!

Dipping not allowed in this event - but yes I'll airbrush the army a mixture of scorched brown and bronze as the base colour

+1 to AtmanAbecedarian, very sweet looking theme and not too boring for 24 hours of painting I guess. I'm excited about what awaits us in the end. What minis will you include in your army list?

Yours are very nice! but have a look at mine from my sig:

for infantry a base of liche purple, a zenith-ish spray of ice blue then another spray of space wolf grey (face+shoulders)
    green eyes roughly lit...

If you don't bother gluing the coloured fluff on the base they take no time to paint...

Vehicles are the same being masked to spray DA green + snot + scorpion and then demask. I think I'll use that green scheme for power weapons and shields from now on...

But I really like yours, I wonder what your vehicles'll look like...

I like what you have done with your army - great colour scheme - At the moment ive used the airbrush for the base colour only (bronze and scorched brown)

The rest of the models has been painted exclusively with washes and pigments so really quick to do (ill use a hair dryer in the challenge to help with drying times).

Vehicles - the metal bits will be in done rusty but ill contrast the rest of the vehicle in a blue marbly effect (same shade of blue ive used in the test models)

stage 2 washes applied (devlan, black and verdigris (enchanted + snot green and some white)

Next up will be the pigments - although im waiting on an order to come in with a copper pigment to see how it works instead of all the rust.

Those guys look great. They look like they've been left outside for 60 million years.
