Superb work on the monolith. This is quite possibly one of your best models to date. The turquoise has come out really well and as always your metallics are flawless.

    Thanks very much guys

Right, I am severely in need of some urgent opinions, please help me guys!

I've painted up a unit of Necron Warriors, they're all done, then I got to putting in the rods and a not sure if they work, please give me your opinion, the other option is to shade them like the piping at the front, but I'm worried that it may be too uch of the same thing (I can't test as I don't have any spare rods!).

Your thoughts would be really welcome, as I need to take pictures toorrow orning to put in the auction on ebay.

    Here's the pictures with/without:

Cheers, again thoughts would be much appreciated!

I think the rods work. Also for auctionwise, I feel it would encourage more bids due to the fact that most existing armies have the basic rods so would fit more with peoples own collections.

Thanks very much, that's a very good point, I'm still completely torn!

I've had a couple of responses on other forums, opinion seems split 50/50 so a few more responses would be really great guys

    Edit:

As this is such a good point I've listed them with the normal rods with the option for people to choose the option to have the rods painted, here's a pic of the squad:

Nice one Byron. One of these days your gonna have to do a step by step with pics of your Necrons so we can see how you get the affect on the metalics and with the glow.

There's nothing too fancy in anything I do bud, just a few layers and then some cheaty techniques! (pigments <3) If I get asked to do some of these in the future in this scheme I'll do one for you, you won't catch me putting together some without being paid though, horrible kit to construct!

This blod definitely feels neglected now; it's been quite a while since I paid the round bases any attention!

This was remedied by 20 BA terminators, I'll get some better pictures on monday: they still need eyes and base rims sorting.

    Hi bud, yeah I did.

Base: Calthan brown + Scorched Brown

Heavy drybrush previous mix + vomit

    Previous mix +bleached

Heavily watered mix with a vallejo pigment (burnt siena)

    Wait to dry.

You're better off doing a couple of watery pigments, you can always add more, if you use too much you'll obliterate the hard work you put in beforehand

    hope that helps

I've had 4 barges arrive (one command, sans head honcho on top), I'll be starting them early next week, as I've said they'll be in the hawk turquoise scheme: watch this space!

    Re: Byronic's 40k painting blog

Hi guys, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on which of the new releases I should paint up to put on eBay, as I've mentioned before my 40k knowledge game-wise is at the very best severely limited!

I am aware that thunderwolf cav are very good in the game but that's about it, the new tyranids look very cool, but do you think they would sell well, do people already have old versions of the models etc?

    Basically;
Which of the new space wolves/tyranids releases do you think are the most popular in the game?
If there's one of these is there a particular equipent set-up that is more powerful and will sell better (both for the units/characters)
Is there a specific unit size that's very good?

Your knowledge would be really really helpful!

    Cheers,

    Byron

A magnatized Hive tyrant should go down well. Magnetize all the options so that you can choose weapon loadout and if possible the head and arms for the swarmlord and you are bound to be on to a winner. Behemoth seems to be quite a popular force for Tyranids so something in that scheme might go well.
