Apologist, those are some nice new additions you've got coming. Hopefully that tank will give you some much needed heavy firepower. I hope you don't mind my saying so but your recent engagements seem to be lacking some punch.
You like your Heresy troopers don't you? They look very fitting indeed anyway!
Bob Hunk, all your Nurgle followers are very nice indeed, and the promise of further LED madness will keep me looking in.

Certainly do – I really like this growing range. I've pre-ordered the new upgrade pack along with a few more troopers, and I hear on the grapevine that Andy (the sculptor) is working on a squad support weapon. Looks like my veterans might get some bigger guns – and we all know what that means!Originally Posted by Jihad_Ragsta

Those round bases really add something to that stunning unit. Love the Old Keeper of Secrets as well. I think its a much nice Demon. I wish they had made it in Forgeworld scale.

Lamb's World 8th Company
Assembled everything that's been built in parade order, and have suddenly realised how much I need to paint!
I also built a command squad for the second platoon, which is now only missing a single guardsman and three heavy weapon teams (should I go for mortars or heavy bolters?). Here they are:
Lief
Torso (and arms) are from the FW Cadian tank crew; legs, shoulder pads and accessories are Elysian, and the head's from the Catachan command squad.
Vox officer
All Elysian, except for the Catachan head. His chin looks a little rough as I've adjusted the mouth to be shut (I wasn't too fond of the Billy-Bob teeth!)
Veteran
Since some of these veterans are from another Lamb's World regiment, this chap has the fatigues from his old group. Body, legs and left arm are from Cadian heavy weapon team; head is FW; shoulder pads Elysian; right arm is FW Chaos renegade and the backpack is from the Catachan command squad.
Bulldog Drummond
Standard miniature (that's a 20mm base!) from Hasslefree.
Specialist
Head's from the FW tank crew, rest is Elysian. Torso needs cleaning up, but I like the pose. He looks like a proper sci-fi soldier to me
Medicae
This chap's unconverted. He's from the Death Korps of Krieg Quartermaster set.

Purging Begins At Home
Bob Hunk’s Daemons vs Lucifer216’s Necrons in a 1000 point ‘Annihilation Mission’ battle report
Having had their lightning raids against key strategic assets on Shale thwarted by the impudence of the lesser races, the forces of Kethla the Enduring withdraw to their hidden base deep within the desert. Tactics are discussed and ancient precedence is sited before a new plan is agreed on. They will begin anew with a slow, methodical, ever expanding purge of the desert surrounding their base before reaching nearby Imperial outposts and finally First Dig itself.
But first they will need to contain the daemonic incursion that is rapidly gaining strength in the wild and deserted places of the Shale.
The Necron war host marches to war! Three Annihilation Barges hover behind a phalanx of Immortals and Warriors led by Kethla himself.
Reality tore itself apart and hideous Daemons stepped forth onto the material plane. A look of surprise (or as close to surprise as Daemons can muster) crossed the face of Lewdfiend Slaanesh, mighty Keeper of Secrets. Not only has his Slaaneshi contingent accidently arrived ahead of his Nurgle allies, but they were all wildly off target!
The Necrons punish the Daemons for their mistake. Lewdfiend Slaanesh is banished back to the warp by concentrated gauss and tesla fire before he can so much as lift a ring-encrusted finger. The Plaguebearers prove a lot more resilient and only lose one of their number. Vexed by the toughness of the pox-marked hides, Kethla silently ordered the Scarab swarm to sweep them away.
But the Scarabs also prove insufficient for the task of killing the Plaguebearers. They held out long enough for the Daemonettes to join the fray and a swirling melee erupts in the middle of the battlefield that soon sucks in the nearby Immortals.
The slow moving Immortals are no match for the blinding speed and razor sharp claws of the Daemonettes, whose fragile frames in turn succumb to the Scarab tide. The Plaguebearers continued to hold out, slowing wearing down the miniature constructs and buying enough time for their master Gatrog Nurgle and his foul pet Beasts to arrive from the warp.

All the while the three Annihilation Barges circled the frantic combat, picking off any Daemons who strayed from the melee with giant arcs of tesla lightning.
Realising that the Great Unclean One would soon make short work of his minions, Kethla the Enduring stepped forward to meet him in a personal challenge – but not before his followers had softened up the Daemon with a volley of gauss fire!
Hefting his giant rusting blade above his head and chortling merrily, Gatrog smote Kethla with a series of mighty blows, scattering scraps of metal over a wide area. But the Necron Overlord was not so easily undone, and the power of his resurrection orb allowed him to self repair in the blink of an eye. The Greater Daemon chuckled and raised his blade again…
As the two commanders clashed, the Plaguebearers and the last remaining Beasts finally scattered the Scarab swarms before advancing on the Necron Warriors. The Daemons pull down several of the ancient constructs in an orgy of vicious glee, and the Warriors are scattered to the desert winds as they attempt to beat a hasty tactical retreat.
As the epic battle between Overlord and Greater Daemon continued the war of attrition starts to swing in Kethla’s favour. Although he is being smashed to the ground time and time again he was slowly wearing Gatrog down with a steady stream of blows from his war scythe.
Reluctant to interfere, the Plaguebearers attempt to chase down one of the Annhiliation Barges before realising that they cannot hurt it and seeking shelter in a nearby rock formation.
With a snarl of triumph a greatly weakened Gatrog finally smashes Kethla down for a fifth time and kicks enough components away from the resurrection orb to prevent the Overlord returning any time soon.
Turning around to look for his next victim, the Great Unclean One is hit full in the face by a massive tesla discharge from the three patiently waiting Barges. As the artificial lightning storm fades it is clear that the daemons have been all but banished from the field and the day belongs to the Necrons!
Necron Victory!

Thanks for your kind words. They're not quite finished yet, still need a purple wash. I agree about the old KoS, I think it's the only one of the old GDs that still holds up. Well, maybe the old LoC too at a pinch.

Apologist - I recommend heavy bolters over mortars as I think they improve the anti infantry ability of the jolly little infantry squads no end. And DE need to be smushed in short order (sorry, I just wanted to say 'smushed' more than anything else there).
And hurrah for manhounds! I thought the space pugs would make cool additions to Guard, greatstuff!
BobHunk - Congratulations on your marriageAnd those Slaneeshi look very nice. I was momentarily put off by the 'cotton' on your Keeper's base, but then I saw it was actually lit up in the battle report! Sweet
I was somewhat bemused that the Necrons won that last battle (sorry Lord Blood!). It looked like their infantry got totally minced...

why are you apologising to me?I was somewhat bemused that the Necrons won that last battle (sorry Lord Blood!). It looked like their infantry got totally minced...
I was watching the game as it was played, and have a horribly bitten tongue as a result (was under strict instructions not to backseat game).
But I have to agree, credit where credit is due, the daemons aquitted themselves admirably killing everything they could get their hands on.
there is no way that a slow and purposeful army with no guns is plausibly going to take down 3 fast skimmers.
if they do so its due to some extreme carelessness on the behalf of the skimmers.
being a daemon player myself (all khornate so no guns either!) the only way you have a chance against and army like this is if you have some fast units that can run them down and stop them shooting. or they make some stupid mistakes, like moving into charge range, or letting you box them into a corner.
I also have to say that whilst I really like the new "reanimation protocols" and think it is a vast improvement, due to being powerful but outplayable, "ever living" is pretty high up on my list of most annoying rules.
with a res orb the overlord can be such a nuisance!
the *%&$*£ just won't stay down!!
apart from using rare weapons that say "remove from play", which are genearally one shot and quite unreliable, there is virtually nothing you can do to counter it.
it seems that necron characters are designed to be a constant irritation.

Minor updates
I've been experimenting with some of the new range of paints (generally a positive experience), but have mainly been building and undercoating thing. Here's a great deal of the second platoon:
Platoon Command Squad
First squad, minus heavy weapon team
Second squad, minus heavy weapon team
The heavy weapons will, again, be mortars. The more I think about how Lamb's World armies would support themselves in the field, the more mortars make sense. Lamb's World being a rocky, mountainous place, it'd make sense to use heavy weapon which don't rely on direct line of sight. That way they can engage enemies behind bluffs etc.
Of course, since they're on Shale, the troops will have to learn to handle longer range stuff too!
