Thanks very much, the battle was a lot of fun, both to play and to write-up.

So that's essentially it for the Soul of Shale campaign. Another planet falls to the enemies of man and the Imperium grudgingly draws its battle lines ever tighter in the Anton Australis sector. The log will remain open for the PCRC to post closing thoughts, final army pictures, etc. Plus if we later expand these armies then we'll probably also post further pictures here too.

The PCRC will soon be plotting a course for Frigia, a wind-blown world of ice hives and blizzards, beset from the outside by Tyranid swarms and inside by uprisings and heresy...

    Cracking final battle.

I pity the poor lone Guardsman. The Inquisitions going to just love him lol.

New Ice planet. As a Guard fan i have to ask, Does this mean the remaining Lambsworld Armoured units are in for a repaint ? or a totally new project ?

    Wiwer Lywd Grenadiers

While not all of the members are drawn from Lamb's World itself, the Grenadier special forces attached to the regiment were mostly made up of remnants from the Dogswatch 27th Regiment. These veterans were equipped with hardened carapace armour and heavy duty armour-penetrating las-rifles.

Both males and females are represented in the Wiwer Lywd, in a ratio roughly 70:30.

This guardsman is equipped with a Yoke-pattern B flamelance.

Don't worry, Dresden's got a few campaigns ahead of him just yet

Frigia for me will involve a new project, which may include the Chimeras, Valkyrie and various other bits I need to tidy from the Cupboard of Shame! However, at the moment I'm looking at an Eldar force.

You guys better post up a similar thread like this cause it`s been an awesome story to get a glimpse of

So Apologist with Eldar, which I agree with Pekel sounds amazing. What about the rest of the PCRC, any new army plans, who goes for nids?

Cavalcade of Decay - Final Thoughts

So after a long year of campaigning my army is finally complete. It comes to a over 2000 points, or just under 3000 when I add 'Gatrog Empowered'. It's almost exactly how I originally planned it, except with a Blight Drone instead of the second Nurgle daemon prince. I'm fairly pleased with how it performed in the campaign, winning exactly 50% of games, which was actually a bit better than I was hoping for. I did wonder at the start if I'd hamstrung myself with the theme, but Plaguebearers turned out to be nails. Of course it was the monstrous creatures who did most of the heavy lifting. I was particularly pleased with the survivability and damage output of Gatrog Nurgle (in both forms).

I do still have a half finished Nurgle daemon prince and a Slaaneshi Herald to add to the army, but I need a break from painting daemons now. They'll probably be finished when I next revisit this army - whenever that may be. But if Daemons do get the rumoured new codex in March that might be sooner rather than later. Just when I worked out how to use the army too! I really hope Nurgle's FNP and Breath of Chaos both stay in their current forms, as they are the things I find most useful.

More photos of the finished army can be seen here on the PCRC website.

I'll definitely be doing 'Nids. Lord Blood may be revisiting his too, or he may concentrate on his World Eater revamp, or possibly both. We'll link to the new blog in this thread when it starts, which will hopefully be later this week...

finding ourselves (the breakers of the seal) down by 1000pts with 3 days to go led to some frantic painic painting.
digging in my toy cupboard I found several unpainted models (from a bundle I got when I started the army) that I could add in to soak up a bundle of points. here they are:

    the incubi:

and Vitori, my haemonculus ancient, who hired the incubi as a personal bodyguard.

love the old rakarth model and it works well as a haemonculus armed with husk blade, soul trap and liquifier gun.

there is a raider for them to ride in but it is just another raider, so not very exciting.

I really like those Incubi, Lord Blood – the armour contrasts so well with the blades. A great restricted scheme that's nicely executed.

Yes indeed – in fact, it's up now. You can find Cold Feet on Frigia here [Clicky link].

In fact, you'd better get over there quickly – looks like Necron infiltrators have made it within the perimeter!
