I liked the Baldur's Gate reference. Not even sure it was intentional... "Stand aside citizen!"

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

As an evil bow-using blacksmith I'm torn between funky vampire powers and crafting Crossbows

Also, Dragonbone weapons! Finally! (even though a mod got there first) - playing an assassin character I have little use for Dragon bones - I crafted both full sets of armour then gave them to companions

I might start a new game and play the Dawnguard content early, facing some of the later challenges with Vampire powers should be interesting

I'm surprised they haven't patched the bucket trick out already. It's funny but very silly xD

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Dragonbone weapons? I must have missed that addition to the list of dawn guard stuff, I've hundreds of dragon bones and scales stashed in riverwood even after making loads of armour etc. will be nice to finally have a use for them.... maybe even craft myself a weapon better than voldenrung

It was in one of the developer interviews from e3. Hopefully the dragonbone bow beats the daedric one or whatever the unique one I'm using from the dark brotherhood questline is. If I'm not getting crossbows I'm damn well getting something new.

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Having now read the full dawnguard additions list I have to say I'm really excited! Around 26th June for Xbox and 30(+) days later for pc & ps3. Price around $20 apparently which represents decent value I guess (as I'll play twice, once for & once against vamps) as we currently pay around £2-3 just for different outfits/weapons for games that don't add any longevity really. All reports so far indicate 15+ hours for main quest line plus faction specific side quests, items & homes.

Have to say I find it odd that mounted combat is limited to traditional weapons and combat magic isn't allowed??? Seems a strange choice, though not one that will bother me as I'm not in any way a magical type character

Pleased to see they've also expanded to bestiary of enemies as well as new dragons (and new shouts!).

Overall colour me excited for this DLC..... and the next one after!

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

There's a pretty sweet file in the Steam Workshop for Dragonbone weapons. They look great imo and aren't overpowered either! Only works on PC though, I guess...

On Dawnguard: Sure looks interesting, looking forward to it. And hell yeah, Crossbows!!

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

I'm a little disappointed that it seems as though we're not seeing Solstheim (yet...?), as back when certain codes were revealed through a patch (crossbows, 'Snow Prince' etc) I had thought that Dawnguard would involve Solstheim in some way. That aside though, I'm really looking forward to it.
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

IIRC Dawnguard is the first of 2 (or more) DLC expansions for Skyrim, so perhaps it will feature in a later one? I do recall a dev chatting about finding out a great deal more about snow elves & the falmer so I'm guessing it will be with that expansion.

Although.... isn't Solstheim an island? It does mention in the Dawnguard info that if you become a vampire lord you get a new "house" which is a tower on an island.

Solstheim is an island, but it's to the north-east of Skyrim - Castle Volkihar is confirmed to be in the north/west.

That's interesting news about the Snow Elves, can you remember where you heard it - if possible, can you provide a link?

    Re: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

Solstheim is a nordic land, by all means, but it's a rural, wild, an werewolf burdened land. I can see them Tribunal-ying it as DLC...but not adding it to the main game.
