for landspeeder storm to be of any use, Black Templars should have scout squads. there is no such thing , not in the current codex OR in the fluff. scouts are part of the equivalent of the tactical squad.
the reason veterans can infiltrate is, ALL old SM codices had veterans with infiltrate. like all old SM terminators had furious charge, etc. learn to decipher what was BT niche from the start and what is just part of old codex design, ppls. its like people have forgoten 3rd/4th edition days :P
"in the current BT codex, we dont have Piranhas; we have landspeeders. we dont have Crisis suits units; we have msu terminator squads with dual cyclone missiles with tankhunters. thats very different!... why are you laughing? we are SO into cc!"
Nice shark, pretty shark.
I certainly hope they don't get the Stormraven. Not because OMG SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE, but because the Stormraven is a gunship. Do the Templars seem particularly shooty to any of you? I mean, if they have the option of ripping the guns off of something so they can cram more angry balls of power armored fury into the hull, will they?
Yes. Yes they will.
The Templars want a dropship, not a gunship.
That said, a dropship would still sell a lot of Stormraven kits, as that would be the easiest way to build one until the real kit is released.

I think veterans should keep that to keep them unique. That said as I pointed out a couple pages ago you thought holo fields were phil kelly's when gav came up with them in 3rd its a couple of pages back if you missed it.
edit: 1) I was wrong in this post gav didn't come up with it see below 2) joking around here too

Im definately putting my money down on a Storm Raven, and honestly It does fit the BT theme, because its an assault gun ship that delivers assault marines and terminators...Very BT.
Iron Clad would be cool, but Im really hoping for a Chaplain Dread. Thats the only dread I'm really interested in.
Also hoping that Sword Brethren have similar rules to Wolf Guard with the ability to attach to other squads. That always struck me as more of a BT thing than a SW thing. Especially considereing Initiates and such do not have a dedicated Sergeant and adopt an Ad-hoc style of organisation. Sword Brethren would probably join an Initiate squad for certain battles as his skill at arms and potential battle experience would be usefull to say the least.
I am a little worried about Phill Kelly doing the codex though. He is a good fluff writer to be sure but I often find he omits rules and wargear that a unit should obviously have. Mandrakes anyone?...even Incubi, a dedicated combat unit without assault grenades. That has got to be one of the biggest pet peeves in GW history and I dont know why. He really has no concept of points costs either, most of the time units are either horribly over/under-costed.
That isn't saying that he is a bad codex writer, I did like both the Dark Eldar and SW dexes, but there are obvious issues with both. Ward tends to over-do things but at least he goes out of his way to include all the rules and wargear a unit should obviously have, and also allows one to take a fluffy army in terms of having a specific theme, which I find Phill Kelly does not do well at, for example in the Warriors of Chaos army book its almost impossible make a "decent" mono-god army, which I hate.
But I digress, I don't want this to turn into another Ward/Kelly/Cruddence hate thread, when I obviously have a decent amount of respect for all of the writers down at the GW.

So I suppose a Tank Hunters Venerable Rifleman Dread will not be an option... =(. Too sad.
The Storm Raven is a flying Land Raider. It should stay GK and BA only. What we need for other chapters is a flying Rhino. Bare-bones flying transport, carries 10 models (or 5 terminators or jump troops) or 1 dreadnought (not both), no frills. For weapons, limit it to a stormbolter or two, with an upgrade to add a razorback turret.
Sword Brethren are currently a mix of normal and Terminator veterans, as separate units. I expect this to change somewhat. Either the Sword Brethren will merge the unit, like Wolf Guard, or the units will split, with PA/AA vets being named one thing and Sword Brethren being the terminators only (or vice versa)

Seriously don't get this desire to see the SR in the Black Templar codex malarkey either. BTs may get another type of skimmer but GW have already noted that the SR is strictly a BA/GK only thing for the moment.
i don't either but don't hold your breath, many vanilla players were peeved when the raven came out...Seriously don't get this desire to see the SR in the Black Templar codex malarkey either. )
just give them another type of landraider or make them dedicated transports perhaps?
now here is one question that should be asked...
is there any indication of the BT getting the BG/BP/CCW+ grenades combo? i wouldn't be suprised if they did... it should make them apart from the other marines much like Space wolves... i.e being half decent in assault
though i wouldn't expect the furious charge termies to last either- they got nerfed in other marine books...
expect bt to be the landraider spam army
Yeah I don't think any army should be able to spam AR 14......
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.
They can already, they can be taken as designate transports in the current Codex, but LR spam is very cost prohibitive.

looking for new plastic space marine backpacks w/ banner poles. the old kind. PM me
On one hand, this makes me worry that there will mean even more melta-equivalent spam in armies.
On the other hand, there have been rumors of nerfing vehicles / making them easier to hit, so maybe this won't be as big of a deal.
It does sound appropriate though. I hope the codex allows for infantry hordes - that's always what I think of with BT.
