Re: Forgeworld getting a finecast make-over?

There's a few, I wanted to buy some Eldar aspect warriors. In finecast. The quality was too awful so I got back to my local store. After having opened nearly ten boxes, we haven't find only one decent box. It's the last time I buy Finecast. What a pity to hear Forgeworld is going the same way. Do you think GW is going to take most of their ranges to plastic? Because I'm not so far from giving up. GW price policy was already unadmitable, but at the less you had beautiful miniatures that made you forgiving it...

And oh my, the whinging about air bubbles; have any of you ever ordered from FW before?
Yep, sure have. I'm currently up to my 13th £250+ order with FW, and I can count on 1 hand how many models or pieces I've had to ask for replacement due to poor casting. I'm very hesitant to place anyfurther orders (and there's a lot I want to buy) now that FW are using finecast resin because I've had a lot of models replaced by GW, even as many as 4/5 attempts to receive acceptable replacements.

I would like FW to openly state in writing in a model's description that it's made with Finecast Resin, so people can then decide whether or not to add it to their cart....seems fair to me.

I would be very hesitant as well if I was you.

I've not had to return a single Finecast mini, and my experience with FW has been generally positive. My point was to illustrate that, prior to Finecast the 'net grognards all said the exact same things about Forgeworld, and that perhaps people should calm the hell down and examine things rationally rather than swearing off FW for life based on the rumour that they may use Finecast resin -but not the Finecast process save for those handful of test minis), especially given that many of those doing the swearing haven't even bought a Finecast mini themselves but are basing their dislike purely on secondhand info.

I understand how frustrating it is when you get a run of poor miniatures, it happened to me a few years back with GW metals, and a good friend of mine has never bought from Forgeworld without having to exchange the initial shipment due to casting defects, but the way people default to RABBLERABBLERABBLEFinecrapFailcast! in every single ******* thread on the topic annoys me.

This is fair enough comment and I agree mostly. I know I've had conversations with some people who crap on about how poor finecast is, only to find they've had 1 miscast and it was replaced with an excellent mini so they don't have a right to bitch about it to every man and his dog like they are doing.

However I also know plenty of people who like me have had many examples of absolute crap Finecast miscasts (about a dozen minis for me), so I am rightfully wary of continuing to have my time and effort wasted on it. The money doesn't matter so much because in the end that is always refunded, well for the mini itself, not my time and effort which is ludicriously expensive

Forge World has long been a bastion of good quality for me, and I had been relieved that they weren't 'doing' Finecast Resin, which is no longer the case unfortunately, so I think that from now on I will ring my orders through to them and ask what's made of finecast resin, and I will probably not order it.

The casts are good. They have their own line and mixture. But it is close to GW but firmer.

Hmm, I'll watch this thread a bit longer before I decide to invest in a Legion of Azgorh army. Wouldn't want it to ruin me mentally in addition to ruin me money-wise.

But I'm confident that FW will continue to be awesome.
