All armies seem to have some army wide rule that makes them 'special'. I don't think dark elves would be the exception.

While I agree, some of these rules are far less intrusive than others. For example, WoC are allowed to re-roll failed panic checks (if they are undivided) and Dwarves get -1 to their charge distance and some extra dispel dice. By contrast, giving every model in the army hatred seems excessive.

In addition I don't think the rule really makes as much sense from a fluff perspective as some other army wide rules, like Wood Elves being able to move and shoot without penalty or Skaven getting a leadership bonus from ranks. Hatred should be something reserved for the blood crazed fanatical units of khaine like witch elves, not given to the entire army. I would rather see a rule reflecting their cold and calculating nature than to cop out with: "Well, they seem really mad."

WoC have the eye of the gods and the marks system. Dwarves have the runes thing. I don't know if army wide hatred is excessive but these armies have quite good army rules.

I should have clarified, because I definitely wasn't disagreeing with you. I think army-wide rules are very characterful and I would be sad to see Dark Elves go with out one. I was just trying to emphasize the point that Hatred, as we agree, is a poor choice for DE.

WoC get their will of chaos rule even if they have a mark.

Nobody is doubting plastic Witch Elves are in the pipeline. Your rumour has been one of a number of sources corroborating this.

The only question is whether they will be released before late 2013..... and whether by the slightest of chances they will be released this month.

I don't think the Hatred is that bad but you've made some good points about it. They shouldn't 'hate' the enemy but rather they should 'disrespect' it.

You just wait Stonewyrm.. There's nutters about these forums arguing Unstable as a good rule for many thing that arn't dead. I believe it's even been mentioned as a 'fix' for Skaven Slaves. *oh dear..*

Seriously though: Surely Stubborn would be quite powerfull. So that would have to be inserted to the cost. And they'd lose the re-rolls to hit of course.

Just something off the top of my head. More aimed at pleasing the 'fluff' Lord Dan was talking about than trying to think of something balanced.

Like I said, personally I don't have a big gripe with the Hatred to be honest. Nor SoA. Or any other Army Specific traits for that matter..
