God, I hope they do a new hydra. The current one is IMO awful (worse than the 6ed one I feel). Here's hoping for a lovely new plastic hydra so I can actually field one in my army.

I've been giving it some thought, and given that we are reasonably sure that there is a "big plastic monster" I would be surprised to hear that they didn't make it a combi-kit. According to eldargal, the model looked kind of like a hydra, so it would stand to reason that the kit might be a dual hydra/some other monster kit.
The current model is just as ugly as the old one... in fact the weird pose and (somehow) even uglier heads probably make it worse. The best Hydra model GW made was the warmaster one, they should have just up-scaled/re-worked it for WFB. That thing projected power and strength, the current one just looks like some prissy cat-snake with a few too many heads.
I doubt it'll get redone again, that would make three consecutive editions... wouldn't surprise me if the rules for it stay a bit OP though, in fact I'm pretty sure the model's ugliness is why it got such a good boost with the 7th ed book, pretty much its only selling point.

Maybe the Hydra has gone the way of the Empire Griffon, and the DE's has some evil twisted version of the Imperial Zoo where ther breed up different forms of Hydras.
@gorebad, that sounds cool, maybe they should throw it in the next book....

A combi-kit with the Hydra would be cool. Only, what other beast could be combined with that?
Oddly enough, I can only think of the Kraken. The Hydra's necks could double as tentacles' mid-sections.

Curses! You found me!
Doesn't have to be an existing monster, it could be a new one that just borrows slightly from existing sources. Like the Ghorgon.

Just kidding.
Probably some kind of sea monsters with a bunch of clam shells for hands![]()
I wouldn't be too suprised if they go for a hydra w a howda kit, beastmasters riding in style on their pimped out hydra..... Omg, its talons have spinners....
Honestly though, maybe it can also make a Cerberus.....

The ghorgon existed already though, I remember it from old bestiaries
If it's to be a monster that can be made from an hydra, though, I'd see them having some kind of big quadrupedal cold one. The current hydra certainly shares enough common design with cold ones for me to see a dual kit like that. Hydra with handlers as of now, or 4 legged CO with howda. I don't say I like the idea, but it's the most probable to me.
edit: something like my attachment.

Check the first post of the thread, CAD designs for new plastic kits have been spotted. Whether Woodie has seen them personally as well I can't say, obviously.
