Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update time

Just spent yesterday building my last object marker for "capture & control" mission

This will be the Iron Warrior who is honour to carry the Banner of my 5th Grand Company into battle (well if capture & control is rolled up for mission). The banner will be added once that is fully built. Current working on the banner as I need to add plasticard/styrene Iron Warrior icon on there before I start any painting work.
But the model seen in the photo. I'll be aim on painting him later today to get up to the wash stage.

Here my Object Marker for the d3+2 mission

Since the last update, I've replace two of these Marker as I was not happy with the once they replace. Then Icons are base on the four chaos gods & the undivided icon, from the Chaos Marine upgread spure, Bloodletter & Chaos Marauder.

I've also got my 3rd unit finish. There still some bits I would like to add on the painting side of things. With the unit being sub theme of Chaos Marines slow going down the path of khorne. I want to try add some blood splatter, like in the Space Marine computer game

But here few photos I taken of the unit so far

Right now my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company 1500pts force is fully built. After a few min ago, I only got one model who still in bare plastic being the Champion for the 3rd squad. But I've commented I'm waiting for Forge World to release that Minatour Chaplain model to use the skull helmet.

So right now as the army stands I still got

    - 4x Terminators to paint
    - 2x Rhinos, one is currently being painted this week for my 2nd unit of Iron Warriors
    - Object Marker
    - Champion, as soon as FW release that Chaplain model shown on there newsletter.

After this I'll be looking to add a further 250pts to my Iron Warriors. A few local tournament are 1750pts. I tend to make a 1500pts force & then add 250pts onto this so when gaming that my local GW store or club I can easy swap between the two points levals.
For the extra 250pts, I will be adding two more Obliterators for the fire support & as said I've alway like the models, background & it from a friend conversion for his Thasound Sons. After makeing the four Obliterators for this Iron Warriors force, I am really looking forward.
Then I'll also add a unit of five Chaos Space Marines, I think with the points (trying to rememeber) they will have a Plasma Gun & a Icon. This unit role mainly to look after objects or in kill points help support where ever it is needed.

Finial - Look like my Iron Warriors will get there third game since start the Mk6 force. I think it will be against Space Wolves that 1500pts.

Also on Sat I'll be aim to get another photo of the whole army when I am that my local GW store.

*Edit* Just after this post, I've just put a order to Forge World for this

    http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhamme...T-WEAPONS.html

Just some stuff toward my Banner & other conversion.

May I ask you where you take these plate armour loinclothes from you use on so many of your models? They look really cool and match the rest of the servo armours pretty good.

You can get the armour loincloths from the Orks kit
    http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/ca...Id=prod1730003

It also where I use the normal loin cloth from & the armour plate you see on the Obliterators conversion. Same with the pockets I use though out my IW force, you get some of them in this box set as well. Hope that helps

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update

First up, my order from Forge World arrive today. The Renegade Militia Icon & Assault Weapon pack.

    http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhamme...T-WEAPONS.html

I'll be useing some bits from the Icons & the torn apart body for my Capture & Control object marker, the Iron Warrior who will be carry my 5th Grand Company Banner. I've also mange to get some time to start painting the object marker (not the banner)

I'm going to get the banner converted up later today or tomorrow afternoon with time permitting.

I also recently replace one of my Chaos Marine as I was not to keen on the way they'd look. Also because I had this better conversion idea

I saw a Space Marine helmet from the Land Raider Crusader set on my painting stastion & though the Bionics would look cool. So few moments later those bionics where place onto a T face Bezerker helmet.

I also got some time on Wed to paint the last two Rhinos, I still got a bit more to paint before these are fully finish

I'm going to spend tomorrow moring trying to finish painting both the Rhino's. I've also to finish my first Rhino, the one with the crusifed Ultramarine as tomorrow the deadline for my local GW store painting pledge (sp?).

Going to try get a photo of the whole 1500pts force again to show how it looking, ether get that done tomorrow or next week. After the two Rhinos are painted, it just the Object Marker & my 4x Terminators, along with the 1x Chaos Marine.
I've also started to gather the bits so I can start working on my extra 250pts to bring the 5th Grand Company to 1750pts for a few of the local tournaments & local games.

Also my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company saw there third game since the Mk6 was made during the Christmas Holidays. Fought against Space Wolves in Caputre & Control with Dawn of War set up (really happy to get this, I think since 2010 I been getting 85% spearhead set up which has became bane of my life). The game ended in a blood draw by turn 5. Both me & my oppent learnt a lot from the game.
Going to try get more games during the week on the led up to Throne of Skulls April, just right now alot of my hobby time getting the army fully painted & to look cool, also because I really do not like useing unpainted models during the games.

As said there, the parts came from the Ork range. Really nice & just seem to fit the Iron Warriors look.

    Update

In the last update I shown a WIP Iron Warrior with bionic eyes, I mange to get him fully painted last week?

Also I've spent some time re-working the banners once more, change the yellow & black strip to the back of the banner instead of the front. Spent a bit of time yesterday night painting these.

Photos from the back of the banner

I'll get another post on the Caputre & control object marker, as I am unsure if warseer still have the four photos limit?

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

Here my Capture & control object marker

Still a lot of work to get done, which I will get done during the weekend.

Also during today I mange to start painting my second unit of Terminators. That mean my 1500pts force is near done. On that note, I think I said I had a Rhino to finish for my local GW store painting pledge, where you have a whole month (basicly last Sat of each month) to get your pledge fully painted. For this month painting pledge I though I would up the challenge & aim for the 25th Feb. To get what ever left in my 1500pts Iron Warriors force, to get this fully painted. Be a good way to mark 25 year of Warhammer 40k as well.

Look like my Iron Warriors will have a game this Fri & possible Sat this week. I'm going to aim to bring my camera on Fri to try get some photos from the game, as well as take photos of my army as a whole & of each unit to show people how far this force has gotten on since the last time I took a army photo.

I'm also going to look into name my Champions of each unit. As said my Iron Warriors have been battle it out for 10 years, while each unit has there name. I feel the Champions also need a name. Can not have a faceless army.
Once I get my hands on the Iron Warriors Omnibus, I'll be useing this for idea for my Champions name
    http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhamme...s-omnibus.html

So that it for now, I'll be aim for a update on Fri after my game. Not sure what I will be battle, but it will ether be Necrons or Chaos Marines. Most like Necrons as I know my friend been happy with the release of the new codex & had started his second Necron force. But I'll be battle his Mk1 Necron force if it is them.

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update

First up, once more it seem my orignaly photobucket account has hit it bandwigth once more. Which is wired as the current account use for the recent updates has been use more.

Anyway I said I had a few games arrange during the weeke there & I was going to try get some photos. Mange to get a game vs the Necrons, it ended up a loss for the Iron Warriors slaughter to the last model. But was a really good game & learnt a lot. Then Sat saw a re-match against the Blood Angels I fought on the 31st Dec in spearhead, capture & control.

So here how the army looking just before the game vs the Necrons

    - This is my 1500pts Iron Warriors force which is

    Warsmith Abhorred Riddick
    Daemon Prince w/Wings

    Terminator Squad 7: Tormentia
    4x Terminators w/Combi Plasma

    Terminator Squad 8: Proeliator
    4x Terminators w/Combi Plasma

    Chaos Squad 1: Iupatus Proeliator
9x Chaos Marines, Melta, Icon, Autocannon
    Champion w/Power Fist
    Rhino w/Armour

    Chaos Squad 2: Be Graphicus
9x Chaos Marines, Melta, Icon, Autocannon
    Champion w/Power Fist
    Rhino w/Armour

    Chaos Squad 3: Apocalypse
9x Chaos Marines, Melta, Icon, Autocannon
    Champion w/Power Fist
    Rhino w/Armour

    Obliterator Squad 5: Excessus Fillius
    2x Obliterator

    Obliterator Squad 4: Oburo
    1x Obliterator

    Obliterator Squad 6: Hydra Infensus
    1x Obliterator

The army is near done. I've been painting the second unit of Terminators this week & I've just got my object marker. I might replace a model here & there due to new conversion idea. But right now just wanting to get the force fully painted. Add onto that, my GW store running a painting pledge, which I think I commented about with my first Rhino for last month? I though I would up the challenge & get what ever left in this 1500pts force fully painted for the end of this month, the 25th Feb, great way along with this being the day that is mark 25 year of Warhammer 40k

Here my second unit of Terminators which I been painting this week, but due to recently having yet another virus/being ill it slow down a little on the painting side

Here my third unit of Iron Warriors

    My Warsmith

    My first unit

The second unit of Iron Warriors

My Iron Warriors battle the Necrons in Pitch Battle, Kill points

With the 1500pts list nearly fully painted. I will be move onto the 250pts to bring this force to 1750pts. I am also looking to add a few extra units more for model reason than anything else. One of these will be a Chaos Dreadnought base on the current codex Chaos art work

I'm also looking that the Forge World Chaos Guards, after order the Icon set a while back. The models look cool & though it would be nice to have a few these models in my army, have these as "count as" Daemons. Possible led to a future Chaos Guard force.

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update

Yesterday my Iron Warriors fought there 6th game of 40k since this new version of the army. They where against Sholto (David) Deathwing army last night that my local wargaming club - Stirling wargamers. It was a really great game & very close, belive in the end it was 9 v 7 Kill points for myself. But before that just count the Kill points mental it was hard call with the gaming going back & forward, it was really down to the finial turns. It games like these I really enjoy & why I really like 5th ed. No one hide, everone committed there army to a "do or die" as one of my friends put it when ever we fought during a tournament back in 2008.
Also it was really great as everthing was battle it out until the bitter end. Nothing held back, nothing hide whole game.

Sholto will be write a battle report when time permits. But for now he took a few photos of my Iron Warrior army after our game

    http://incunabulum.co.uk/blog/2012/0...iron-warriors/

I've still got a fair bit to finish.

Just my Unit of Terminators need the base done, I'll be spend tomorrow that my local Gw store painting Object marker. Then there thing like the Black Templar on my Warsmith base I'll need to finish off in the future. But right now I got a lot of thing on the go. Also I got two week until the 25th the dead line of my local GW store painting pledge, so there no worries. Also got a Space Marine Captain to paint up for the 25th as well as part of the store painting comp.

Also one week from tomorrow & hopeful the Iron Warriors Omnibus will be release. Even though I got Storm of Iron & the limited ed IW novel. There a lot of short stories I look forward & find out Honsou future.

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update

Recently I've made one new Iron Warrior Marine who will be replace a model in Squad 1 - Iupatus Proeliator. This happen from time to time with a army I take to tournament, update the odd model here & there. Just new idea to try out, maybe why I like to convert my armies & never been a fan of building models from the kit alone.

Basicly I'm trying out the Citadel Liquid Green Stuff on the T face bezerker helmet. My sculpting abiltiy is not the greatess, basicly I can not sculpt that all. As much as I would like to learn how to sculpt, there no one around here who can teach me.
So when it come to conversion, I tend to alway try make useing green stuff limited or not use it that all prefferible. However it dose limit some idea I have, that I would like to try out.
Just I alway been a fan of armour, from the diffrent desgin like Lord of the Ring, anyone with the exstended DVD can see all the work behind the idea of Sauron armour for exsample. Or the Space Marine for the computer, the multi player allowing you to use diffrent armour for your Marine for on-line gaming.

But thanks to GW release Citadel Liquid Green Stuff, I am able to get a small % of these idea done. Hopeful the photos show it. I've try to add a Chaos Star around the T face plate area of the helmet. Just plasticard to thick, while the Citadel Liquid Green Stuff give it the right depth & you can just paint on more with out it looking to cartoony/to over the top

Note - Right now the sitting room/space I take my normal photos is current being painted up. So photos space has been my painting stastion. So if photos are funny it'll just be due to the way the light are
I'll try get some better photos once the sitting room free.

I've alway had the idea to try this out. Orignaly done some art work base on my Warsmith before he became a Daemon Prince. Part of that was back in my NQ leval (first year) of college where on of our project was to make a 1:1 scale head gear, this was back in 2005.
I went ahead to make a Iron Warrior helmet useing a Biker helmet

This was the helmet made back in college in my first year & first project I got to bring my hobby into the college course. I took part in a NQ to HND model making course so I could use skills from the college with my hobby, hopeful join the hobby team down in Warhammer World in the future.
It because of my Iron Warriors army I got into the college course & Graham McNeill suggesting the course as he use to go to the college building where the course was held.

So I try to use the above model to test out some idea. I really like useing the Citadel Liquid Green Stuff & I will be useing this in the future to try out other idea on my Iron Warriors force.
It not just for fill in gaps, Citadel Liquid Green Stuff great for trying stuff like this out. I am going to try finish my Ultramarine army, use this on the shoulder pads for the Ultra icon.
For me it just help out a lot, as said my skill to sculpt is very limited.

Also on the new Iron Warrior. After the game against Sholto (David) on Thur, I though be cool to add a Raven Wing helmet. As said all trophies tend to be base on armies I fought over the past ten years or those in my local GW store/club.
I think Sholto Raven Wing are the first RW force my Iron Warriors have ever fought as well.

Also if you notice the clear plastic rod on the Iron Warrior base & a skull on the base next to the Iron Warrior. This will be a servo skull that I'll be adding onto this model. I still want to get around to convert up some servo skulls & adding some though out the army. Just think there cool & just for fighting in a trench, it a good way to keep a eye out, know what around the next bit/when to get ready to fire.

That it for now. I am current re-base two Terminators from my second unit. Was not happy with how the dead Templars where looking. So the base have been re-done & looking a lot cooler, also make use of the Vampire Counts Skeleton Warriors I've been buying over the past few months for this Iron Warriors army.

Game wise - Look like my Iron Warriors have a re-match against Orks Mech force.

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

That Sholto battle report now up on his blog

    http://incunabulum.co.uk/blog/2012/02/14/4...rriors-1500pts/

Edit - Note there a little mistake on the army list. The unit in this list do add to my 1500pts. Just forgotten to edit the Obliterators point cost, pretty much my 1750pts list was the only one I found, edit to my 1500pts (less Obliterators) & forgotten to change points. THe point cost should be 150pts for the unit of 2x Obliterators not 220, while the single Obliterators are 75pts, not 150pts.
So again it is my proper 1500pts list, just forgetten to edit the list from 1750pts down to 1500pts

IW front - Just tidy up some models right now. Adding Chaos Rune to my power weapons, getting everthing ready for the 25th Feb deadline for my local GW store painting pledge.

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Update time

Time running short. As said I'm aim to paint what ever left in my Iron Warriors 1500pts force for the 25th Feb as part of my local GW store painting pledge. As said in past update, from time to time I replace a few models due to new idea, trying to make the army that bit cooler & that what happen since the last update.......
How else will I know if a idea will work or not

First up, I mange to get the Iron Warrior from the last update with the Raven Wing trophie. He now fully painted

I went for gold on the Chaos star on the face plate. Just the other T face bezerker helmet I have, before trying out this idea. They all have silvier to show battle damnge & just to help with the yellow/black/to show the T face area of the helmet. So went for Gold on this model so he would stand out from those who have battle damnge. Other wise they will clash & when people are check out the army, they will not notice/think all T face helmet in the army are the same if this make sence.

One of the new replcment, I mange to get a few more Forge World Red Scorpain (sp?) Honour Guard helmets, they fit in really well with the Iron Warriors look

Then another who make use of the FW helmets

I also found a Iron Hands bionic leg left over from a past conversion. Though it would be good to try convert the Chaos leg with some of the bionics bits

Then another Iron Warrior who useing the liquied green stuff on the T face plate on the helmet. Also a friend was recently asking me about 40k tournament & he remind me that I needed to add few White Scar helmets base on his army from back when we use to battle in 2005.

    Terminators

The base are brand new. Just the orignaly once, the dead Black Templars did not look right in my view. So re-base the two Terminators & preffer how these base have turn out.

Also I mange to finish the Terminator unir a few days ago while in my local GW store

I really like useing the GW turft grass. It best to use super glue on these & then varnish the model. Just it help the turft, just from the glue & then the varnish drying. Also like useing the GW water effect on the base, just shame they are no longer sold in store?

Re: Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company - to mark 10 year collecting

    Here my Object marker

Happy how they turn out. I'll need to tidy up the Templar icon on the shoulder pads in the future, also would not mind adding a bit more to them, useing codex Armageddon for idea's.

I've also recently replace one of the Rhino hatch (squad 2) due to feeling the icon was a bit off & because I found a really cool Chaos Icon I wanted to use

To save time, I save the image & then scale it down to the right size to fit onto the Rhino hatch. When it come to make icon. Some are drawn from scratch, all the size mark out, etc... But some time if there a temp, it worth useing this. As said there I use a Chaos star icon I found & this help save time scale it down to the right size for the hatch. Just use double side tape to tack the paper onto the plasticard

Happy how this turn out & that I never use a ruler once, all cutting was done by eye follow the image on the paper. Though when cutting with plasticard, more so someone useing plasticard for the first time. I highly suggest useing a flat metal ruler when cutting.

Space Wolves - I'm adding a few models to my Space Wolves. The undercaoted model is going to be a new Wolf Guard Battle leader. The Wolf Priest is there purely to try copy the image on his shoulder pad onto the Wolf Guard. Belive I have over 3000pts fully painted of Space Wolves, only this Wolf Guard Battle Leader is not painted up.

Iron Warriors - So over the next few days during my own hobby time I will be busy getting these Iron Warrior finish for this weekend. I'll be aim to get another army photo on the Sat 3rd of March, with units by unit photo.

As for the 250pts, that slow getting done. Just gather some bits. I should hopeful have a update showing the 5x Chaos Marine unit. While the Obliterators I'll need to wait & try get a mail order place to get Bile backpack.
I've also bought a box of Dark Angels a few days ago which I'm aim to make into Fallen Angels. After all the Bile backpack also come with 4x Cypher backpack, be a shame not to use them & just somthing to paint more than anything else & to plan out my future Fallen Angels force (new "rumour" codex chaos permitting?)

Also the Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company saw battle against Orks on Thur. Ended in a draw as the game went onto turn 7, 5 object. Belive there was only 4 Orks left alive out of 60, while I only had a 10 man Chaos unit hold a object. Had a Rhino contesting the Ork object unit it went onto turn 7 doh!
Should be battle Daemons soon, been a while (ToS July 2011) since I fought Daemons.

DUDE! These are amazing and so inspiring. I love how the regular guys look dynamic and alive rather than a mish-mash of silver and bronze. Also your banners/freehand and stuff is awesome and complements the rest of it while avoiding the cliché 'hazard stripes everwhar!'

Thanks. Yes one of the main thing with any army is balance & not to go to over the top. Also for me personial I am not to keen on going over the top. Hazer Strip will only go onto armour plate (Ork set), some face plate on helmets, Chainswords & the back of my Icons. Just to act as a spot colour to draw people attesion toward my army.

Just got given some important parts toward my IW force today. So thise has please me & has please the Chaos gods!! just it been a good day after getting those bits. So Sunday I'm going to spend some time building what I can of the 5 Chaos Marine unit for my 1750pts list. I'll also be looking toward mail order some bits for my Obliterators soon.

On a side note, anyone that has any 3rd ed ruin (on the base) & wish to trade. Feel free to let me know.

Finial - Iron Warriors will be battle it out against Necrons tomorrow that my local gaming club

Going to try get some better photos next week hopeful as I'd like to send some copy to What new today on the GW web site.

Then some photos of each unit by them selfs

    Chaos Squad 2: Be Graphicus

    Chaos Squad 1: Iupatus Proeliator

    Chaos Squad 3: Apocalypse
A unit that is slow going down the path of Khorne. I mange to add some blood splatter onto area of the armour, like the Space Marine computer game.
