Yeah, you're right. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't intended as criticism - it's just that I like the red glow so muchTo be honest, there's not really a lot of places I could put the red.![]()

How did you paint the blue?
Don't plan with just one vehicle - plan with three: Doomsday Ark, Ghost Ark and Annihilator Barque or CCB.I'm thinking a doomsday ark is a pretty good choice. What does everybody else think?
I've learned the hard way, that one vehicle isn't enough with the new codex. I was just to pülaying with just a Monolith, which was nigh unkillable, so it was quite a surprise that it died in my first few games a lot faster than I thought. I'm currently playing with a CCB, a Ghost Ark, a Mono, an Annihilator Barque and a Doomsday Ark - most opponents don't have enough firepower to deal with all of them.
My favourite vehicle is actually the Doomsday Ark. I was a bit scptical at first because of its price tag, but the long range and the S/AP of its gun made it worth the price in all the games I've used it in. The ability to fire all of its guns at different targets makes it a valuable backfield-defense-unit, too.
@ colonel kane trine: The blue's done with a base coat of chaos black, the first highlight is done with a 70/30 mix of regal blue and chaos black, followed by a highlight of regal blue and a final highlight on the very edge's with hawk turquoise.
@ Dezmord: Thanks for the advice, I think I'll have a go at a monolith after the doomsday ark. I was thinking of doing an Annihilation Barge but I was put off it by it's relativley short range and it's risk of damaging my own units. I really can't wait for the next wave of necrons (which I hear is due about Febuary/March time). Hopefully we'll get a Doom Scythe/Night Scythe model.
Anyway, here's my next few models. only the Luchguard with warscythe's left.
Sorry for the bad pictures, it's too dark to get good ones tonight but I'll get a decent photo of the completed Lychguard unit tomorrow.
All C&C welcome.
Nice to see taht you've found some red rods for your warriors. Looks great!
It's actually the standard range of most Necron-weapons. In about a dozen games the only casuality it caused on my units was a single Immortal...I was put off it by it's relativley short range and it's risk of damaging my own units.
Annihilation barges are cool. I plan on fielding 2 with a monolith as a heavy shooty trio that work together.
I think itd work well
@ Dezmord and colonel kane trine: One day I might have a bash at doing an Annihilation barge but it'll have to wait, I'm pretty sure the next few additions to the army will be a doomsday ark, a monolith and more immortals. Now that the army is getting big I think it would be a good idea to get more troops. In bigger games I can't rely on troop units of 5 or 6 models to survive a whole game.
Here's my first unit of Lychguard.
I think I've really manged to tidy up the way I paint my blue with these models, What does everybody else think?
All C&C welcome.

i keep scrolling up and down to compare and these new guys seem to really pop now
As it turns out any 8th ed army book cover can be improved by googlie eyes
Red and blue is a classic combo - looking really good!
Didn't know if you were maybe going to put some Devlan Mud over the steel bits (only) to give them a bit of age and a bit more definition?
The more I see of great Necron logs such as yours, the more they make want to branch out and make an army of these soulless killers.
I am urgently trying to contact any living relatives of Sam 'Jock' Wilson, KIA 10.06.44, UK army service id 2764432, from Morley, West Yorkshire, England. Served with Black Watch Regiment & No.6 Commando.

Mockles! Pent on silpen tree, blockards three-a-feening. Mockles! What silps came to thee, in thy pantry dreaming?
I don't really want them to look old. I like them looking newer, as if they're from a much younger dynasty. But I have started to give the metal more depth by washing it with babad black.
unfortunately I haven't been able to do much painting over the past couple of day's as I've been building something. It's big and was very time consuming to put together. Any guesses?
That would work if Necrons show age - I was always of the opinion that Necrons should be able to produce rust-free-metalDidn't know if you were maybe going to put some Devlan Mud over the steel bits (only) to give them a bit of age and a bit more definition?
A Doomsday-Ark. the only Necron-thing that's more timeconsuming is IMHO the Ghost Ark.It's big and was very time consuming to put together. Any guesses?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disapoint you, here's the big, time consuming thing I built.
One of my 10 reptiles needed a bigger tank and I had to build a hood for it (well, me and my girlfriend's dad). But I am planning to pick up a doomsday ark tomorrow.
And the Doomsday Ark starts to take shape!
This thing is huge, it's all over my desk and there's still bits of it left on the sprue. Dezmord, you were right, this thing is taking ages to make.
Does anybody have any tip on building this thing in relation to painting it? Is there anything I should leave unattached to help make painting it easier?
Also, I've done a bit on the lychguard, so far they've got all their base colours on and their first blue highlight. Once the blue is tidied up I'm going to paint each one individually.
All C&C welcome.
Im dreading gluing my arks/doomsdays together they look like beasts to do!
Loving how the lychguard are coming along! They look great.
Your 'Crons continue to shape up nicely. Still love that paint-scheme. So good!
And can we get a close up of 'big time consuming thingy'? It looks sweet.
- You can glue the entire rear-section, apart from the driver.Does anybody have any tip on building this thing in relation to painting it? Is there anything I should leave unattached to help make painting it easier?
- glue the front-parts (including one rib)
- glue the "things" were you attach the gauss-flayers on the ribs (you should have now several ribs, each with two "things" attached)
By now you should have the following separate parts, which are best painted separately:
- front section (including one rib)
- 5 rips (with attached things)
- rear section
- driver
- gauss-flayers
- cannon (including tubes)
Be careful when assembling after painting: you mjay have to scrub offf some paint on the places were the ribs connect.
Thanks for the advice Dezmord, the only thing I've done differently was putting the rib pieces together, hopfully I won't regret that. Here it is.

No big update today, just this guy.
But tomorrow is my first day off in ages so the Doomsday Ark will be getting some attention.
All C&C welcome.
