Cant wait to see the completed doomsday ark!
I thought building the Dommsday Ark took ages, painting it is going to take sooooo much longer. I've been working on it literally all day and this how far I've got.
I've left the back engine thing because I want to paint it with a red glowing effect but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Can anybody help?
Looking good! I am working on a ghost arc myself and it takes a horrible amount of time to assamble and paint. I am doing a similar edge highlight but with green. The ribs are making me crazy. Got four of them done today but the thought of two more makes me wanna throw them across the room.Looking forward to see more Necrons

maybe try referencing the the aftermarket tail light covers for like dodge? u know the ones where when u hit the brakes and u see the ram symbol, look at it as if its dark the brakes are hit and might give u a idea how to do the lighting?
shouldnt be too hard to search taillight cover images "after dark"

@ Pedax: I'm afraid you might be waiting a while to see the finished Doomsday Ark, being in full time education and having a job doesn't leave very much time for painting![]()
@ Orcdom: Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try![]()
Righty, I'm needing some feedback on this, I've tried to get the glowing affect but I'm not too happy with it. What do you think?
I'm planning to have this finished by friday but I've got a lot of revision to do so I can't promse anything.
Its looking great so far! The red looks great
Everything is looking great, especially the blue edge highlights! (which incidentally the same as my necrons :P) the red I think needs to be brighter in the middle of the energy part, so go up to orange there, and of you look at the glow around a candle, the closest part to the flame is really quite bright, and again, orange... So I would say for the lighting around the red the closest part to the actual glow needs to be bright orange too, spreading out to red at the edges.
Hope this helps Syn!
Cheers
Matt

you're on the right track. one thing that i would suggest you pay close attention to is your brush control and keeping your lines consistent while you're painting them. it's something i still struggle with myself, but when i get it right, my minis look that much better.

your trying for source lighting right? what about to the inside curve area directly to the pictures right of the ball that is creating the light, reflecting off the hull of the craft or rather the back of the shielding protecting the lord. wouldnt suspect it would hit more of that inside curve but may try it there?
maybe even a hair bit of red on the top of the 3rd engine too?
Steve
I like the red glow - put some gloss varnish on it and it should be good to go.
Work continues on the Doomsday Ark, and yet again I could do with some advice. What should I put on the spherical computer screen thing?
(FYI, the highlights are still needing tidied up but I'm going to do that once the whole things painted)
All C&C welcome.

I think the red glow is impressive and you could leave it as it is. For the computuer screen if you mean as in read outs, maybe (if you fancy some fiddly work) a triangle in the botom middle with a square middle left with some tet lines top right all in bright green. This could look like a visual representation\analysis of the battlefield near the arc.
yah the instrument panel looks good as it is, i wouldnt touch anything
Sorry for taking so long but I've been really busy with non warhammer related things, but I've been painting all day and here's how the Doomsday Ark is looking.
All C&C welcome.
Wow it end up looking really good and I know this model is a pain in the ass to get painted up (I'm actually working on mine).
Keep going on the good work!

Your Ark is looking fantastic. The red glow at the rear power source is still my fav part but the whole thing is done very well.
Looking very good so far! May I recommend using some of your wonderful red on the cannon?
