The gems are too bright for my taste, could be darker on top spots. Pretty nice red though and the overall impression is positive![]()

agreed, hendarion. i can't put my finger on it, but the gems don't quite work so well with the rest of the scheme for me. perhaps a green that's more blue than yellow?

Personally I'm not a fan of red-green combo in general. Actually I have no idea what colour I'd use to paint gems on a red armour though.
But that's not what I meant, I guess the upper area made darker would make them pop and "work" better. Minor change with big effect I think.

I actually quite like the vibrancy of them. It makes it look like they have an internal glow.

I really like the gems to be honest. I think they suit the Eldar being very bright and clean.
I agree, I like the brightness of them, makes them appear to pop.
I see no larger problems with the gems, as Hendarion pointed out, there could be some darker colour around the top. But also perhaps there is a little too much yellow at the bottoms.
Great plot otherwise! Love your Shadow Spectres!
I had this problem re: not sure what colour gems to do on a red background, found that milky grey gems seemed to work though (depending on what colour the rest of the model is). Mid grey slowly layered up to white over about 6-12 steps depending how important the model is or how big the gems are. Closest thing I have to show would be the purple-grey wraithlord gems on the signature link. Imagine that, on darker red base minus the purple tint and a little lighter.
These guys have a lot of grey already though, plus a very grey base, so in this case I'd stick with green for the contrast. Looks good, imho![]()
