Thread: Grot tank company

    Grot tank company

Going to build 9 grot tanks and 1 grot mega tank for starters. I really loved the concept of grot tanks, cause they are funky, yet capable to do some damage.

    Grot tanks 3/8
    Mobs completed 0/2
    Painted 3/8
    Built 3/8
    Grot mega tank 0/1

    Grot looted wagons 3/3 completed

So, here is my first built tank, haven't given him name yet:

Well done. It looks slap-dash while being functional at the same time. Nice to see an Ork tank that isn't red or rusty metal.

With the blue and white checkers, it looks kinda Greek.

No pictures, but I added crude rivets all over the tank and managed to prime it. Gotta slap some blue now.

These are really cool. Looking forward to seeing more.

Will you be building this up to a full army later?

    Lowmans, thanks.

Yes, I plan to build a dread mob army with deff dreads and stuff using IA8: Kastorel-novem, or play regular games using codex: orks and grot tanks counts as warbuggies or maybe killa kans.

    On progress:

Yesterday I painted base colours, and started painting freehands. Chipped paint and other weathering to go. No photos, was to sleepy to make some.

Please forgive my ignorance but are grot tanks in the Ork codex? I have personally never seen a grot tank company. I have seen a few threads on them though and to be honest, I want to build some mini tanks!...but only if I can actually play them in a game/tournament.

    Thanks

I like the weathering you've done on your first set. I'm about to try it on my Ultramarine Dreadnought, do you have any tips please?

The Kastorel Novem book was really good, I thought. Nice to see some models from there.

CutThroatRazor, they do have rules to play with, it's even now have a stamp "Warhammer 40k" in latest Apocalypse 2nd ed. As for tournaments... you probably won't be able to field them as grot tanks, but we all know a wonderful "counts as" rule.

I like the weathering you've done on your first set. I'm about to try it on my Ultramarine Dreadnought, do you have any tips please?
Lowmans, sure. I use a spongy thing that comes metal blisters to apply a black paint, sponge reaaally gives a nice random effect. Then you just paint inside of a black area with metallic.
As for mud, It was painted in consecutive dabbing of scorched brown, bestial brown and snakebite leather.

Lovely cute tank. A great idea for a force, how many points will it be?
Hairy Norseman, I'm planning to bring the whole force to about 2k with roughly 500 points of 3 grot tank mobs with grot mega tank.

Magot, thank for the kind words

    Updates to come!
