Cheers guys, i have also bought 2 new Battlesuits to use as Bodyguards they are armed with Plasma and Fusion gun for MEQ and tank hunting! however in their first game they managed to deep strike and then scatter off the board (TWICE) and then i rolled a 2 on the mishap chart and they all died straight away without even firing

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

OK soooo i have been a busy lad lately and have been working on my Vostroyans in preparation for a 500pt tournie coming up soon! however truth be told my heart really isnt in it and i have been itching to get back to painting my Tau who are by far and away my fave army now.

First things first my original firewarrior team, ive not been happy with them for a while and the highlighting on the weapons plus the shoulder pads looked poor in my opinion so i have gone back and re done them.

As you can see ive re done their rifles and added sept markings to the rifle stock and a squad marking to their helmets.

Another thing i have done is personalised the squads shoulder markings to make them stand out from other units, ive sort of tried to do a Yin-Yang sorta thing on the Tau Symbol to differentiate them from the other squad. Also one final change is that the Shas`Ui is now actual distinguishable with a grey shoulder pad marking.

Finally on the Firewarrior front heres a picture of one of my guys defending an easter chick V Tyranids on easter Friday in a 4000pt a side game...

Ok next up i have done another Devilfish! Thats takes the army up to 4 tanks fully painted with one Hammerhead still sitting in the box waiting to be painted.

Here she is Devilfish Number 2.

Which calls for a group shot of all my tanks so far.

Also i decided that the progress id made on the army needed to be put into perspective so i took a few army shots.

4 tanks 21 Firewarriors 4 Pathfinders 15 kroot 7 Suits and 2 Broadsides! Enjoy guys thoughts much appreciated.

Looking good, Rog! I'd best catch up with my Salamanders! We might have two fully painted armies on table by 2014 at the rate I paint...

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

Ok so ive done some more painting, this time one of my 2 Piranhas got a brought over from the dark side (or the grey side) and into the light.

I used it for a small 500 point combat patrol tournament that i had last weekend, short on anti tank options that i could rely on i decided sticking in a nippy little Piranha with fusion would be a good option in case i was stuck with a Chimera on my door step (most heavily armoured thing i could expect at a combat patrol tournie) it performed relatively well and managed to bag itself a Warwalker and a Killakan plus it escaped the battle in a strange sort of "both sides get off the other side of the table" type scenario so did well at that level.

Also i have been buying new stuff and i bagged myself a load of new battlesuits and also got farsight for 6 quid from ebay brand new in the box with all the bits!! but the thing i have been most excited about receiving were these little beauts who arrived today.

Oh yes the humble 55 point Tetra, the biggest force multiplier in the entire Tau army perhaps, stick a Targeting array on and its 4 shots while moving 12 at BS4 with a disruption pod all for 55 points....amazing!

My fave little trick is to roll it out and mark an infantry squad then have a squad of fire warriors in a Devilfish geto out and plough them into the ground with 20 ST5 AP5 BS5 shots accompanied by whatever else is close by to cause some serious damage too!!

Oh and one final thing, my new Warseer avatar! a Tros`san sept Fire warrior

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

Thanks guys! yeah ive been plugging away for almost a year at these guys now and have made some real inroads on them. I now know 100% the theme of the army and what i like in it.

CB yeah ive seen how busy you are on your guard they look great!

Razor thanks for the comments man, yeah the group shot has given me shot in the arm and im happy with the army so far.

I have a small update to share, my Cadre has got some reinforcements in the form of 2 Tetras which have been fantastic for me on the tabletop and really have turned the tide for me gaming wise helping me notch up 4 wins and 1 draw out the past 5 games! they really are that good.

So anyways i thought the stealth contingent of my cadre which at the moment only contains 4 Pathfinders, deserved to have a bit of work done on them, and after having the success on the field with the Tetras (I was using my Piranahs as stand ins! ) ive done a Tetra!

The scout group move forward to recon my desk....

The other Tetra lays on my tray ready to be painted.

At first i wasnt sure at keeping the Dark grey/ Bluey black sort of scheme for my Scouts but thought that as they are all pathfinders and are often called up to do night ops and recon then they should be slightly more subtle than bring red!

Anyways hope you like them, more to come soon.

Interesting that one unit can make such a huge impact in how the army operates.

Everything look really nice mate, a very clean and coherent army, with some nice edge highlighting going on.

    Keep it up.

Thanks! Yeah honestly they make an enormous difference to the army. It makes Firewarriors fantastic at close range.

My little trick is to advance a Devilfish with some suits behind it obscured by it totally, then mark up an enemy squad and disembark the FWs. Bump them up to BS5 and try to bump up the suits as well if theres enough hits, then just unload with everything you have. Reaaaally messes up the targets day having 20 BS5 ST5 shots at them from close range followed by a barrage or missile and plasma from the Fish and the suits.

    How dare you!

I have started work on 2 Helios body guard suits recently, they have all the base colours on and have been inked now its time for the long process of edge highlighting the pair of them in orange which takes quite a wee while.

On a gaming note i have a few spare suits lying around and have decided to do something a bit diffrent with them in terms of weapons, my suits all either have Plasma and missile/fusion or flamer. So i have gone for a burst cannon unit for lower points! also im finding i am very rarely ever playing against Space Marines these days and am usually against Eldar/Dark Eldar/Orks/Guard and occasionally Tyranids! so the extra shots should come in handy.

On my list to paint before my 2000point list is fully painted

    2 bodyguard suits (Halfwat done)
    1 Plasma/MP Suit (Undercoated)
13 Kroot and 3 Kroot hounds (Basecoat)
    1 Tetra (Basecoat)

So every thing has been started pretty much and i am very close to having my whole force painted up! Ive got spare bits and bobs lying around like a Skyray and a bunch of other Kroot, Some Firewarriors with Carbines, Pathfinders and a single Piranha to do but they can all wait as they dont get into my usual force anyways...

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

Hello again, the Cadre has seen plenty of action recently and more importantly it has seem some action with a paintbrush from myself! I have almost done my 2000pts and the latest unit to reinforce us from the Sept comes in the form of 2 Bodyguard battlesuits toting Fusion and Plasma to bring fiery death to enemies of the empire!

    Here they are.

So thats those chaps ready for battle then.

Also during the bank holiday weekend i was involved in a large scale battle and had to bring 2500 points worth of stuff! almost my entire force. It was an interesting day which pitted 2 Guard armies (one of which was an armoured company!) and my very own Tau against an enemy force of 2 Dark Eldar players a Chaos and an Ork army! Anyways heres some pics.

To my shame some of my stuff is unpainted! but 2500 points is alot of stuff...

    The cadre deploys for battle...

The bodyguards use the noble devilfish as a shield...

    But it dosent last long!!

Tau reinforcements arrive as the forces of good push on towards the objectives.

Another devilfish ploughs on into some Chaos space marines.

a Tetra gets a little too close to an ork nob!

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

Ok so i have not done much work on my Tau recently and have been working on my guard (which i have now sold) but have been looking into expanding the army slightly and changing it.

First option i was looking at was to buy a Barracuda for FW, 70 quid but a nice model and would be good for anti flyer defence.

Second option, some more broadsides as they are brilliant! knock out tanks left right and center and the FW ones look so good and around the same price for 2 as it is for a Barracuda.

Third, more infantry. In terms of infantry i mean fire warriors, i have a 3rd squad built with pulse carbines but i think they are a bit naff, pulse rifles in conjunction with markerlights are amazing in this edition with BS5 with 2 markers and a 15 inch rapid fire range i think they could be used more agressively.

Not sure which way to go at the moment, i do however need to paint my second kroot unit, one suit and a Tetra to almost make all of the Tau models i own 100% painted!!!!

Re: Rogerios Tros`san sept Tau !

Right then i am playing in a 2300 point tournie next month called Vonpocalypse and so have been back at my paint station trying to get everything together and i am a few models short at the moment.

On the list to be done -

    1 Tetra
    1 Battlesuit
1 Dark Angel Dev squad (anti air craft allies!)
1 Ethereal to act as my ambassador model, no idea why they need that though!

One thing that has annoyed me for quite a while about my army is the fact that i only completed half of my Kroot and it made the presentation of the force look sloppy. However i have now amended that!

Voila 32 Kroot ready for action.

I am a big fan of the Kroot both models wise and game wise they are a great unit to have. Next up will be either my Tetra or battlesuit.

This thread will be getting a whole lot busier in the coming weeks and months especially with the new codex just being released finally, i plan on added a riptide, Pathfinders and possibly some more broadsides soon!

Your red armour makes me think Akira, and the black Pathfinders and Tetra are very nice.

Thanks for the comments guys, i do like to keep things realistic with the painting and try to get a nice simple scheme but do it well so that i can actually have a chance to get the whole army painted!

Need to get my second tetra done by the end of the week so hopefully should get some pics of that soon. My next purchase for my Tau will most certainly be a riptide, they are such lovely models.
