Latest update on their site is now March 5th - at the earliest (nearly another 2 1/2 weeks).

Can't help but think that the "message from the toolmaker to the community" is in fact a letter from the toolmaker to defiance. Way too descriptive to be a letter to defiances customer base! :/ If they can start producing plastic on March 5th, how long do people reckon it will take from then to receiving the product in the post?
What I don't get is where they said that they'd cut the injection ports after the first photo was taken, and yet theres non on this one.

Actually, Tony Reidy asked the toolmaker to write that letter specifically to explain to the customers what was going on.
Alex, believe it or not, Defiance actually did believe the runners would get cut last Thursday.
I wasn't talking about the runners, I was talking about the mould base. The toolmakers say they order the mould base in a week before it's needed. Since they said they'd be casting by last Thursday (the 16th), this means they tried to order the mould base the previous week (around the 9th), but could only back-order it for a March 5 release date. Since DFG was promising a test cast on that Thursday, with the promise that they'd be going straight to full production if successful, the toolmakers should have immediately told DFG about the three week delay, and DFG should have told the customers the same.
TLDR: Don't wait until after you've missed the deadline to explain your failure.

I'm pretty much 95% certain that Tony et al didn't actually know that the mold base hadn't been ordered. As far as they knew, they were going to see plastic flow on Thursday and so made that post in good faith.
That good faith seems to be what's getting them in trouble the most.
Having been away for 2 1/2 weeks, I was sorta hoping when I returned that there'd be more progress on the Marines than simply more vague/iffy dates being bantered about.
The new stuff on the bugs looks interesting though.
I hope they get made.

In brief: runners are being cut for the plastic to flow on the USMC set, and meanwhile the Germans are being modified to be closer to the concept art, including a new gun on the sprue. Additionally, the Bugs are in the works and, ideally all three sets will be released in March.
Also, there's a poll up on the Defiance Games site gauging interest in what the next set should be. Go and vote for the USMC Hardsuits, dammit!

Weren't the runners being cut last week? Or the week before that? Or when they originally previewed the leg molds?
What surprises me is that there aren't more pre-order people complaining and shouting about all this - you can't keep selling more products when your still waiting on the first. Its all a bit bizarre :S

Maybe no one preordered? I was gonna buy these guys but I'm gonna do Napoleonics with head or weapon swaps instead.
Its all more of the smoke and mirrors game. Once again they're throwing every bit of eye candy they can at us so we'll think there are great things on the horizon. The question is how far away is that horizon is and will we ever reach it? How many projects will they have "in progress" before anything actually hits the stores? When are people going to start asking for their money back?

The complete lack of any professionalism is bewildering. Moreover after they tried to ill-talk another company who now after the "incident" miraculously knows how to deliver the products on time. Before the incident we waited ages for the great coats. After all the ill talking (only from one side mind you) we should have known.

I was whise enough not to preorder. I froze my gaming budget after the "incident" not knowing who to trust now, because back then I had to fight to get my money back. It was directly from Wargames Factory. I have now received orders from them, (perfectly handled all of a sudden)
Oh I assumed from you're post you had asked for you're money back.
