The bearded one's dwarfs (lord of the rings)

I'm just nuts. This is my 6th painting log

A group of us at the local GW decided to dig out some of our old LotR mini's to do a little war of the ring army on the side as a little distraction. Also we heard war of the ring might be GWs best gamesystem so we have to see what all the fuss it about, don't we?

I dug up my dwarfs and managed to find about 15 metal dwarf warriors, a captain and banner, 8 khazad guard (well, 6 to which I added 2 suitable plastics), 4 iron guard and a lot of plastic dwarfs. A lot of the metals need touching up or a repaint.

Here is the first plastic warrior finished:

And a W.I.P. on the iron guard.

Fairly easily. They're a lot smaller than warhammer models, and of more realistic proportions, so weapons and such aren't gigantic. The models are pretty simple in comparison to gws other games, but that has it's charm, and is reflected in the price card

And you still haven't dropped the ball - great stuff as usual TBO. LotR is fast becoming the one (current) GW system I really want to play, and your painting is feeding that urge.
Trying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.

Now we're talking beards! I like your paint scheme, it's tasteful and well executed.

    d'aaaawwww, thanks mate

Thanks for the comments gents. The great thing with LotR is that it's a relatively economic option in comparison to fantasy and 40k. A box will give you 24 models, which makes 3 companies. Later this week I'm going to pick up a pack of trays for them.

Looks good. The plastic minis are kind of limited with what you can do, but the metal guy should be awesome. Great work already on the blue/grey stripe on him.

Looking good. I do love the LoTR dwarves and your paint scheme is great, simple yet effective. Hope you enjoy WoTR, it is my personal favorite game from GW

Re: The bearded one's dwarfs (lord of the rings)

I bought some WotR movement trays, and I nearly finished touching up the first company worth of my old metals (including a banner and captain, and one of the new plastics)

The first company is nearly finished. Lot of touching up of old models. The banner bearers cloak and his banner are not done yet.
