My sources are giving me the following general timelines of codex releases

2012
Q1/2 - tau (or flipped w BT)
Q2/3 - BT ( possible WD codex)
Q3 - 6 Ed
Q3/4 - eldar

2013 getting fuzzy
Q1 - SM
Q2/3 - chaos legions (new)
Q4 - ig or orks!

2014. So much could change...no order given
Daemons
Nids
DA?

This is a long way out, and a lot could change, but we know the studio has long lead times.

I'm rather surprised about the SMs... most sources seem to claim they have recieved little to no work... I'd've also expected the legions to come earlier...

Hm, that's new info on the post-6th codex releases. We heard a whole ago that 6th would have a refocus on Chaos - does that still hold with a year's wait on Legions? Still, I can't complain about getting new Eldar!

It would be nice if they could fit both Tau and BT in this year. I'd been writing off the possibility out of lowering my expectations, but I'd like to be proved wrong!

A WD codex for BT would be horrifying. And frustratingly not unprecedented.
Though it seems unlike GW to let a year go by without a 'real' marine release of some kind.

Orks seem more likely than IG at the end of 2013, though a wave release wouldn't be out of the question (to finish things off).

I'd love for Eldar to be released just after 6th ed. But I just can't help thinking that marines, or chaos marines will come first. Fingers crossed it isn't so.

Can I ask, how does this correlate with your earlier rumours for an ig 'mini wave' with plastic stormtroopers, griffon and hydra in march? Does that earlier rumour still stand in this new schedule? I've not heard anything much since the original rumour dropped.

To be honest, thinking about it, what could added to Codex Space Marines in terms of new units and models? I know a lot of people complain about them 'vanilla' aspect of them, but i feel there isn't much more than can be added without taking away from BA (Storm Ravens), wheras Eldar and CSM (Legions or not) Need a vast update in both models Eldar: (Wraithguard, Bikes, SC, expansion of Autachs (maybe even a plastic kit), and addition of new units (Bonesingers, addition of the Nightspinner into the Codex proper, a Flyer or two (Nightwing and Phoenix) and CSM: Plastic Raptors, Havocs, Dreadnought, Revamped SC, all cult troops in plastic and the addition of more Cult like units plus the Hellblade and Hell Talon, and at least 1 type of Daemon Engine of the each of the Cults.

I'm gutted if games workshop give blacktemplars a wd codex hopfully they will get a real codex since the sisters of battle's mini were direct order only and the templars are still in store

Well, off the top of my head:

-Plastic Sternguard
-Plastic Vanguard
-Plastic Thunderfire (not sure how popular that would be though)

Really, I just wish they'd up and re-do the tacticle marine box. Call me what you will, but that set is starting to show its age, I think. Would be the perfect opportunity to make them a little bigger too.

Marines have the status, however. They could move the sternguard and vanguard to plastic (combined kit?), plastic or finecast thunderfire, and a 'not a Storm Raven' flyer. Or another Land Raider variant to package with the basic version, and redo that kit slightly.

Yes, other armies need the attention more, but its hard to be surprised by attention to marines.

Hmmm, well I have the Legions Dex down as a lot earlier than 2013 (earlier than many may think) but of course nobody really knows so 2013 is as good a guess as 2012, and I get the impression they do really want to make a big deal out of them which would explain the delay.

Tau in Q1 is a very big possibility. I had been told that Tau have had new models ready since June 2011 by somebody who has (allegedly) seen them. I was under the impression they would get a wave release with a WD update but this seems to have been canned in favour of a Codex. From June to Q1 is enough time to develop a Dex so that's certainly possible.

In terms of Marines, all the new Codexes (with the exception of Space Wolves) have had models which use the new flying stand ('Nids will get the Harpy at some point).

There is definitely a push towards large models and when asked why only Grey Knights and Blood Angels get Storm Ravens at Games Day it was inferred that they are the only Chapter that use them, but that other Chapters use their own variation of flyer.

So it's possible there will be a new model which will feature in both Black Templars and Vanilla akin to a Storm Raven and will appear in both Dexes.

This means that the Vanilla Dex and BTs could be released close together, in a similar way that Blood Angels and Grey Knights were.

And GW almost always releases a new Marine Dex with a new edition, so with Edition 6 arriving in Q2/Q3 next year it is more than likely.

Yeah, whilst I'm confused at Legions being so far out considering the info that's leaking, I also have heard about models for both Templars and Tau being in-progress/done for some time now.

Unfortunate if we only get 4 releases a year, but then again, 2012/13 will be Hobbit years.
