    Modern NATO ISAF etc

Not painted any minis other than 40k before, but came across Empress miniatures at Salute several months back and picked up a couple of packs of their modern British Infantry. Finally dug them out of my bits box a couple of days ago, the level of detail is packed into such small minis is insane, you can even see the shape of the Nexus clips on individual pouches. I had a go at painting them up in MTP, needs a bit of a tweek . . .
    Think I'm hooked

Lovely models. I've got the SAS, Delta and Taliban figures but they're not painted as nicely as this - excellent job.

I love the look of your DPM. When I paint cammo it just looks like a badly painted model. Your's looks like cammo. Great job Ash.

Cheers chaps, glad you like them.
The camo pattern isn't quite what I intended, for starters it's a bit dark, but I think FGM has hit the nail on the head it looks too much like DPM. The dark green areas have totally obscured the pale green, which should be dominating. The brown areas should be smaller and more spread out. The dark squiggly bits are OK, the light squiggles need some extra smaller blobs. It's amazing how seeing something blown up on screen changes your perception. I just got a pair of MTP trousers via eBay and they are so much lighter than I thought . . . Will re-attack minis apres Chrimbo.

    Nice work Ash.

Multi-Cam is a little lighter, and you could just add some white or cream 'spots'...

That said, lovely paint jobs regardless. I really like them as they are, the lenses on the glasses are outstanding.

Here's the Mk2 paintjob, more green, more squiggles. I think I went off a bit half cocked the first time as I've got used to trying Multicam and MTP is a lot greener, less sand tones. Next squad I'm going to try starting with a light green base instead.

I recon these guys would be fairly easy to do leg swap conversions on . . .

Wonderful work! I can't help but ask how you painted the lenses on the glasses. Some yellow lenses would look great on my Empress Americans!

Was a bit of a fluke.
There was a bit of 'over brushing' from the skin tones on the glasses and rather than tidying it up, whilst pondering how to paint them I chucked a layer of yellow ink over it to see what it would look like . . . three coats of ink and a coat of gloss varnish later they look like what you see below.

I was going to comment on it also but hot damn those look like the tinted yellow ones we have to wear at work.

    Excellent paint-job throughout!!!
I was wondering, what scale are these miniatures? Can you photograph one with an imperial guard soldier for comparison?

    Here you go:

Height wise they are bang on, not as cartoonishly steroid enhanced looking as IG.
The heads come on a separate sprue and would probably make good head swaps.

Most excellent, and thanks for the quick response. Yes, they don't look out of place. They are some very good sculpts, btw.
