I had a thought earlier on. We're all talking about Karl Franz being the first plastic special character (providing the Swarmlord doesn't supposedly pop up first), but didn't LotR beat Warhammer to the punch with the Witch King of Angmar riding a Fell Beast as the first plastic or named character?

Yeah, but LOTR doesn't count![]()

So, I noticed this article on BoLS : http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2012/...-we-weave.html
Given that almost all of these rumors are tagged as from that person, it really throws into question whether or not anything at all here is true.

I hope the Empire gets some new minis for their mounted Lords and Heros. They are either very old or don't exist.
I have very fond memories of the empire as having dwarfs, halflings etc in it. I was getting into warhammer proper the time of the first empire book so to me having those races in there is ok. It fits with the fluff as well.

Can you guys recognize/remember these models from last and previos Games Day?

These models looks good and I hope to see them soon (;
I just want a new book, I don't plan on using GW models for anything... given the huge market for 15th, 16th, and 17th Century historicals, why should I limit myself?
They are test models done by new sculptors in the Citadel Design Team. And like pretty much all of the test models shown in the past - virtually all absolutely gorgeous - they will never be released. Dem's da breaks.
As Halflings seem pretty certain to be added back into the Empire army list do we know if that will be just the regular unit, or if the beloved Hot-Pot will be returning?
Model-wise the most recent Halflings were the Dogs of War Lumpin Croop's Fighting Cocks (*ahem*), so if they weren't going to make new models they could just finecast those, but Empire is privy to a LOT of plastic kits (in fact there are no actual units that aren't plastic, only upgrades and characters), so would it be unreasonable to hope for a plastic box of Halflings?
Current rumours are for 4 or 5 plastic kits, and so far we know of the War Altar / Wizard's Altar, the Demigryph Knights, and the Hero / Karl Franz on Griffon. The various plastic characters that have been rumoured - the Warrior Priests and Female Wizard - would, I guess, be the new single pose type, unless there's a Battle Wizard style kit for the Priests to build ones devoted to different gods (Morr, Ulric, etc.). So it looks like there could still be at least one plastic kit we don't know about - which could potentially be the Halflings if they want to represent all the new options in the first release wave.
What say you? WHAT SAY YOU?!!
I say wait before taking for granted that halflings are going to be in, or you might end up disapointed.

Fair point, but the first post does have this which adds a fair bit of credence:
"There are rumours of a return of halflings. (eldargal, Harry, heihei)"
Dwarfs and Mercenary Ogres, whilst lovely and flavourful, just don't seem likely as they would be watered-down crossover units from other army books, whereas Halflings don't exist at all ruleswise.
Anyway, as Empire look likely to drop in April or May we'll hopefully see these rumours crystalise in the not-too-distant future.
Judging from the VC and book GW only makes new models if they can make a dual-kit of it.
This is why Im skeptical on halflings....unless imperial dwarves make it in.
Halflings and dwarves can easily use the same fat body (imperial dwarves being more comfortable than other dwarves) with just different weapon options and a bearded head for the dwarves.
I hope this would happen. Not that I'd like dwarves in my empire force, but the grumbles of our resident "Beard-boy" would be priceless
Id love the return of both units into empire. Only 2 months for release right? incredible how GW has managed to shut down rumours![]()

If it comes to that LotR have had the entire Fellowship of the Ring available as plastic models for ages in the Mines of Moria set, but LotR is a slightly different kettle of fish because the game is designed around special characters, the generic lotr characters are terrible value compared to their named counterparts.
I thought they made the IoB griffon prince an SC as well, they even released an on-foot model to complement didn't they?
Yeah, but he isn't a real SC. He's just a generic Prince with a name.
is there actually a month ? April will be very fine. in May i´m in the usa. and i need the book in german
Demi-Griffon would be very nice. But i hope, they will rescupl them.
The FW one was not so good. Its looks a little bit funny.
Halflings for 2 oder 3 Points, that would be good. To save the canons.
